Any form of assumption when trying to draw accurate portraits is the best way to get it wrong. Capturing a likeness is all about measurements and distances between points. If one point is wrong the whole portrait can be skewed. The angles are everything! It's lovely to watch you work. :)

You are amazing. I have tried drawing using the shapes but I don't need to because I can draw without the extra stuff. I have been drawing since I was six years old. I started out drawing roses that were growing outside the window at my childhood home. My mom found out that I have a natural ability to draw and bought me supplies because I kept taking her office supplies. I love drawing. I can even draw with Carola Caron's. I won awards in college and my artwork was displayed in their gallery. It was awesome to have the opportunity to have my work displayed. I got to choose a special frame and plague. I was diagnosed with savant syndrome in my early 30's. Also, I don't use traditional methods for drawing. I am handicapped so I have to adapt. I was told that savant people usually have handicaps like I do. 🤷 I can't walk very far but I can draw realistically. ☺️
I appreciate your tips they have helped me a great deai. It was wonderful watching you develop your sketch couldn't stop watching. Love the end result.!

Very nice illustrations overall. When I sketch a portrait from a color photo, I will first convert the reference photo to a black and white image before I begin. It helps me see the values much better.

I really want this type of pencil drawing. One pencil but can create nice strokes and different thickness. I'm really new to art materials, but does graphite works the same as your pencil if I sharpen it like yours?

Any pencil is fine. H pencils, 2H, 4H etc., are harder and make it easier to make light lines. B pencils 2B, 4B, etc., are softer and work better for making dark lines. A 2H, an HB and a 4B is a good simple set to start with.

I just watched almost 3 hours of absolutely great drawing, was motivated, set one line and gave the fuck up, HOW am i working as an artist at the age of 17 when I'm not even able to draw a proper face, wtf I'm so tilted because of that
