It's not over until we get Arlo's 96 track official tier list!!
We the people need it!
We need it
Now that is what I and the people need
Arlo: finally, it's over.
Viewers: No, you will make a tier list, whether you want to or not.🤣
Please yes!
Hearing someone say they think the first two waves were better than the last two is very strange to me
Agreed! Wave 2 was really weak, IMO.
Yeah that threw me off too. As far as I've gathered from the groups I'm in on discord/reddit, seems to be consensus that (while all of the dlc was good) wave 4-6 were more beloved. As long as arlo is enjoying himself, then guess it doesn't really matter though.
Yeah. Wave 2 especially didn't seem that great to me. I do agree with Arlo though that Wave 3 was probably the best (and yes this is in large part because of the Christmas track, sue me).
Yeah, I thought the first couple Waves were pretty weak compared to the later Waves. The first Wave was almost completely underwhelming with the awful textures and track details.
I loved Wave 2, probably my fave@@sebbie_gonzo
The Burning up in the atmosphere on Wii Rainbow Road is actually a callback to MKWii, as that would happen when you fell off. When you off the map in MKWii, the screen would fade to black and then back when you respawned, Lakitu didn't just materialize in front of you, like he does here.
I realize most people already know this, this is just for Arlo's information
Kand of brutal, you fall further before the fade out, and you're just smoking under lakitu when it fades back in.
It’s been 9 YEARS (almost 10) since Mario kart 8 initially released and it’s finally wrapping up.

@@lemonquacklol Then again Nintendo DID shadow drop BOTW Link into the game awhile after MKDX released

Wow I have very different DLC opinions than you!! I would say Waves 1-3 were indeed ramping up in quality, but especially Waves 4 and 6 were genuinely fantastic and easily cleared the first 3.
The first 3 waves being the best bit is...surely a take. 4 was the peak of the pass for me, so I couldn't disagree more lol. This one came close to beating it though.
I agree lol. My peak was definitely 3, but the order for me is 3,6,4.
I am indecisive between 4 and 6 too, both have very pay and flowy tracks.
Wave 1 - C minus
Wave 2 - B
Wave 3 - A minus
Wave 4 - A
Wave 5 - B
Wave 6 - A
While wave 1 had a couple of good tracks but I found most pretty boring and the graphics definitely don't hold up.
Wave 2 was a great improvement, but a couple of meh additions like sky high and New York but the rest were pretty good overall. Underrated wave.
Wave 3 was fantastic though admittedly I am biased towards maple treeway and rainbow road which are both in my top 5. The rest of the wave is mostly B-tier but generally a great wave and visually, aside from rock rock mountain was a step up. Item customisation was also a neat bonus.
Wave 4 was arguably the peak for a while. Almost every track was great, even the city tracks were pretty consistent. Admittedly Amsterdam is a bit slow for my liking though. DS Mario circuit was actually fun and I ADORE Yoshi's Island one of the top 5 of this game. The addition of birdo made me more excited about the prospect of returning characters.
Wave 5 disappointed me somewhat. To me there weren't as many standouts even though I enjoy daisy cruiser and Moonview highway they don't hold a candle to the fan favorite offerings of previous waves. I also am not a fan of how they redid Koopa Cape and sunset wilds, both feel like shells of their former selves. Squeaky clean Sprint was amazing though and I love all 3 new characters. Overall a mostly positive but had some mixed feelings.
Wave 6 feels like a perfect ending, every track was pretty solid and SNES bc3, DK mountain and rainbow road were all S-tier for me. Also glad it's only 2 city tracks now, admittedly previous waves had 1 too many cities imo.
As a Silok Hawk fan, I couldn't agree more, although gameplay wise the whole thing is quite fun, but the polish was lacking for the first 3 waves.

It's been quite a journey. Definitely one of my favorite series from Arlo, but I suppose all good things must come to an end. I'd say these DLCs went put with a bang. Thank you so much for the ride.
Agreed
My goodness. Here you are again.
I’m sad that it’s ending
I’m sad, but let’s be honest. Mariokart nine has been a long time coming.
At least now we can have something new now
Looking at the Wave 1 tracks compared to the Wave 6 ones is night and day.
Toad Circuit grass still gives me nightmares lol
@@brijor6ff7Toad Circuits sand in the trailer was even worse
Haha get it because a bunch of wave 6 is at night but wave 1 is in broad daylight
I still have a pipe dream that they'll go back and fix the textrues of the first waves.
As someone who had the original Mario kart 8 for Wii U without any of the bells and whistles……WOW. I cant believe this game is finally complete. It’s infinitely replayable.
It's not weird at all that this game got so much DLC. Its past, present, and lifetime sales absolutely warrant it.
Yeah but at the same time, that never ever happens with Nintendo games that have been out for so gosh darn long with such little DLC lol
So do the lifetime sales of lots of Nintendo games that never get any DLC. And the DLC came later than maybe any game in gaming history after its initial release with nothing in between until now. So yes, it's a little weird.
Yeah, but it IS weird that Mario Party Superstars never got the same treatment. Maybe with the next game.
@@Logos729 Now I understand the Real meaning of Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the KingDLCdom. 🥲😤
😄
I would say it's weird that it got it so long after its release, rather than getting it at all

This was it. Wii Rainbow Road was the final missing piece for me. I had like ten tracks on my wish list and I got literally every single one of them.
I love how the Spiny Cup has a Bowser Castle and a Rainbow Road back to back. Just like old times in the Special Cup. Great choices IMO for the Bowser Castle and Rainbow Road, I was pleasantly surprised by how they remixed SNES Bowser Castle 3. And Wii Rainbow Road has a special place in my heart since the Wii
0:53 I’m Roman and I recognised most of the areas in the track like piazza venezia, piazza navona, etc… I just don’t know why it’s called Ancient Rome since most of the places displayed I wouldn’t say are as ancient as the colosseum but whatever.
Also AHHHH wii rainbow road is my childhood😍😍
Wow, they really went all out for this DLC. Seeing how many tracks they included, ending with Rainbow Road from my personal favorite Mario Kart game, made it feel more climactic than I ever expected 8 Deluxe to be back when the game first released.
I think this wave was actually really well done! Especially the soundtrack, its easily one of the best ost drops out of the dlc, Rosalina's Ice World, and Wii Rainbow Road especially
Waves 4 and 6 were my favorites tbh. MK8 has been a journey man
It would have been nice if they added a couple battle mode tracks too
I was so excited for DK Mountain and Wii Rainbow Road. Those were my all time favorites as a kid. Kinda sad we didn’t get Dino Dino Park in the DLC though 😔
I think part of the point for this game is that every course has their own music track and that since DK Mountain and Dino Dino Jungle have the same track, they had to pick one or the other. Unsurprisingly, the vastly more popular DK Mountain was chosen.
What I am disappointed about, however, is that we didn’t get Wuhu Island in any capacity from the DLC.
@@Mojo1356 i definitely agree. If I had to pick between Dino Dino and DK Mountain, I would choose DK Mountain every time 🤷🏻♀️
@@Mojo1356I disagree about the music theory because waluigi’s pinball music is the same as one of the wario stages
@@captainpep3 oh yeah- I forgot about that.
Same bro, I wanted Dino Dino Jungle the most, need to see those dinos in hd
I’ll be honest, during the last lap of wii rainbow road, I felt myself getting a little emotional. This game came out when I was a sophomore in high school, and I feel nostalgic for it even though new content has been continuously added to it until now. One of the greatest of all time
Imho, Wave 6 is THE BEST! I felt like the 2023 waves were MUCH better than last year’s waves since they improved the game overall and enhanced the courses to be better than what we had last year, while last year had some neat tracks like Kalimari Desert, Peach Gardens, and Merry Mountain. This year was an amazing treat for Mario Kart after the disaster from Wave 3 where it felt so unbalanced and unenjoyable than how I remembered back in 2017, but they did their best to enhance the overall core experience and it felt almost as natural as it was.
I'm really hoping Mario Wonder does something like this. Classic 2D levels with new quirky wonder effects would be rad
Mario Wonder DLC will come in 5 years, right after Animal Crossing DLC and ARMS DLC.
I’m surprised by your opinion that the first half of the BCP was better than the second. Pretty much everyone I know, myself included, preferred the latter half because of the increase in quality of the tracks themselves. Also Wave 6 is my favorite bc I love Wii Rainbow Road
So hard to believe Mario Kart 8 is nearly a decade old and Nintendo just recently put out its final DLC! 🤯
Arlo: I don't really want to *rank* the DLC waves...
*proceeds to immediately rank all the DLC waves*
I laughed. I cried. This series has made me feel things I've never felt before. Thank you for this artistic triumph of a series. I'm forever changed.
I like the fact they reserved the Wii Rainbow Road to end the DLC for Mario Kart 8, because there's literally an "8" in the middle of the track. It's almost like a good bye.
This wave was AMAZING

The meteorite part where you fall off in Wii Rainbow Road is from when it was in the Wii, because the same thing happens, except you don’t get recused right away.
Wii Rainbow Road was the perfect way to close out the Booster Pass. I was hoping they'd bring that one back.
I think it was a good note to end the DLC on. The jukebox, characters, and costumes were welcome additions.
My track ranking:
8. Daisy Circuit: This is probably the weakest track of the wave. I love the sunset and the dash panels around the lighthouse, but it's pretty forgettable.
7. Madrid Drive: This is definitely one of the weaker city tracks. The wigglers in the city square and the goomba shoes in the soccer arena are the only highlights for me.
6. Rome Avanti: I really like the unique enemies in this one. It's cool seeing rocky wrenches and fuzzies in a Mario Kart track. Plus, I tend to prefer city tracks set at night. Other than that, it's an above average city track.
5. Rosalina's Ice World: This track looks and sounds better than ever. I've always loved the icicle cave section, and the added ramp at the end offers more shortcut potential.
4. Piranha Plant Cove: I love the Atlantis vibes, and this one has a lot of enemy variety with thwomps, morays, clams, and piranhas. Each lap feels distinct. My only complaint is the music is subpar.
3. Bowser Castle 3: My goodness, this track got quite the glow-up. This is the best looking SNES remake ever. I really like the metallic ramps and the dry piranhas, and the upward path on the walls is a tricky way to snag some extra items.
2. Wii Rainbow Road: I love all of the boost panels and the cannon plus the two circles, but this track feels more repetitive than the N64 and 3DS versions.
1. DK Mountain: This track has always been one of my favorites, and this new incarnation doesn't disappoint. It looks stunning, and the bridge continues to give me PTSD.
Aww no “hopped up on painkillers” Arlo for this Mario Kart video
Woohoo! Thanks for getting this out so quickly - loved this series. Keep up the great work, Arlo!
It seems like wave 6 they finally figured out how to make these courses approach the base game visually (Piranha Plant Cove is a standout) it makes you wish they re upgraded the previous waves as an unspoken bonus
I saw one piranha plant in my race in Piranha Plant cove. I dunno, it was alright, but that’s like naming Twisted Mansion “Haunted Armor Yard”
The saying “all good things must come to an end” represents this wave and everything surrounding it
Love how at 5:20 Funky Kong starts his victory dance and then gets inked... and he keeps dancing anyway!
1:28 It's that cannon, I remember being really impressed by the cannon back when I first played Double Dash in 2003.
Forgot to mention they added a whole fricken music player into the game!
The museum in Madrid Drive is the Prado, and the stadium is the Santiago Bernabeu (home of Real Madrid). 😊
Having yet to play Mario Kart 8, my favorite part of this series has been seeing tracks from Mario Kart 7 in glorious HD.
Very cool of Nintendo to do this. Loved these videos as well. Only map missing was Wuhu Island.
SNES Bowser Castle 3 was previously remade in Tour, Arlo.
Missed opportunity to make a rainbow cup with the last 4 rainbow road tracks, and fill the spiny cup gap with that resurrected DS track that is the only tour track not in this game, and have an even 100 tracks
This wave was, like all of them, pretty good. Nothing blew me away, but the Tour tracks are new to me, so I appreciate them for the novelty of changing each lap if nothing else. And they picked tracks I know and have nostalgia for of the retro ones, so that’s cool. And as a whole, I really liked the entire Booster Course Pass. Plenty of fan favorites, plenty of more under appreciated and just… kinda cozy nostalgia trips, and a number of tracks I never played before. Excellent DLC for the variety and value of what they gave us.
See you back here for Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC videos!
I think the biggest issue I have is they didn't remaster original DS rainbow road. That track has two loops that would've been great to have anti gravity on. Almost every anti gravity section we got in the dlc kinda didn't need to be and only exists for the bumping mechanic and turn differences. So to see a track that practically has anti grav built into it not included I think is a missed opportunity.
True. I agree.
Unfortunately tour didn’t remake that rainbow road so it wouldn’t have made it, but tbh I feel like it still was much better to bring back Wii’s over DS’s
DK Mountain is one of my all-time favorite tracks so this last set was one of the best to me. I also think Madrid was the best of the real world tracks.
I don't really play Mario Kart 8 anymore and I don't have the DLC but DK mountain might push me over the edge. I got good memories from that one
It’s amazing that all my favorite tracks are in one Mario Kart game now. I’d honestly say the DLC got better each wave for the most part. I’m biased because Rosalina’s Ice World, Wii’s and 7’s Rainbow Roads, and Maple Treeway are my favorite courses in the series. The Tour tracks are really good as well and I’d say my favorites among those are the more recent ones in Waves 5 and 6.
No way Arlo just said the first 3 waves were the best, I definitely cared the most about those waves but in terms of quality, 4, 5 and 6 are much better then the first 3
Arlo is ACSENDING in that thumbnail, lol
I love how these new tracks are just in the game now. Forever. I can play Rome Avanti, Piranha Plant Cove, and Rosalina's Ice World any time I want!
Mario kart wii was the one i grew up with and played the most as a kid so i was super happy they added wii rainbow road
All courses tier list would be amazing!!
The last 3 Waves _really_ blew me away. I wish I could spend time exploring all those Beautiful courses on foot lol - but even if racing is not my preferred genre I still bought all these because they're so Inspired. 💫
The City tracks are simply little Masterpieces in themselves. And SNES Bowser Castle: oh my _Word._ Only Mario (Kart) could do this.
This dropping on the same day that GTA 6 was being announced is quite poetic.
Arlo saying that the first two are the best is the wildest thing I’ve ever heard. Most if not all say the first two are the worst ones and they only kept improving lol
I got one of the two tracks I wanted the most. Bowsers castle for Super Nes was ny fav, the other one I wanted was the Donkey Kong track in N64 with the boat in the middle and Peachs castle.
Fans: we want MK9!?!?
Nintendo in 2028: Heres Wave 30 DLC for MK8D
MarioKart 8 is the best live-service game I know of.
Nice to see SNES Bowser's castle finally come to a newer mario kart again. took 22 years to appear since super circuit. the gba ones replaced it in DS, Wii, and 7
I think my favourite DLC track was the one where you make a turn and the big tellietubbies baby face comes out and talks to your in arlos dad's voice and tells you to clean the garage
To me it’s really made the game into Mario Kart 9 and it’s own game. Whereas before Deluxe was 8 with a better battle mode, now it’s 8 with:
8 more characters, 48 more tracks, the new battle mode, rebalanced and with new modes via custom item rules.
It feels surreal that there's no more DLC coming out. But all good things come to an end. I liked the newest wave a lot! Def think Pirahna Plant Cove was my fave of the new tracks!
Arlo if you had played Wii then you would've been more impressed with Daisy Circuit. There used to be no speed boosts or ramps. It really livened up the course! And that falling thing on Wii Rainbow Road was actually a nod to Mario Kart Wii where that happened as well! This wave was great to a gamer like me who started with MKWii. Just GOLDEN!
The real question is where could the series possibly go from here? I'm sure there's 0 chance of another Mario Kart this gen, but what about next? Will there just be Mario Kart 8 Super Deluxe or something? Will it just be 8:D again but with all the DLC and in 4K?
Gameplay wise all I could think would be to bring back Mission Mode from DS, unless they really did a radical change. If they made it like Forza Horizons, only in the Mushroom Kingdom that would be pretty epic, but I doubt they'd do that. Start out with a simple cart, with a small selection of races, but as you win races more areas open up, more cart customizations unlock, more characters, more modes, etc. Maybe even take hints from other racing series like Riptide where you can also unlock new mid-air tricks that give extra speed boosts. The key to the game, though would be that it's open world. No more choosing tracks from a menu. You have to physically drive there through the giant Mushroom Kingdom. They could also take inspiration from Diddy Kong Racing, where there are land, air and sea races with different physics and obstacles for each. Like some could be in planes through the air having to contend with wind and airborne enemies, others could be on the surface of the water in boats while contending with waves.
Maybe too much of a departure, but I think it could be cool. Certainly would get people's attention.
Awesome job with this comment! Really made me think!
There's also plenty of old ideas they could use as well:
Double dash as a concept is incredible, and would be cool to be used again as a mode or full game
Mission mode is an incredible concept, and would be very welcome as it's more in-depth single player content
(You could also push this concept further to make it an "adventure mode" of sorts)
They could even take cues from tour and add reverse versions of every track, kinda like mirror mode
Honestly, for a new mk entry there's almost an infinite amount of things they could do
How the first wave can be better than any of the latest
items are the key to winning online races, and when a big clump of racers go through one spot, only like 3 of them get items
With how CPUs are programmed to swerve in front of you to prevent you from getting an item box, the item box change is nice. It's less frustrating now.
Please make this series a playlist
Kinda disappointed that Arlo wasn't zonked out of his mind on painkillers this time
It’s incredibly considerate of Lakitu to improve his fishing pole technology in order to now prevent us from fully plummeting to earth, if not still left a bit singed.
For Yoshi's Island alone, wave 4 was my favorite
Should be a good check arlo. I couldn’t get to my phone while listening. Had to endure the full dream hero ad, brutal!
When my wife and I first got married we played MK8 on the Wii U. Then after our daughter was born, I got a Switch and MK8 Deluxe. Now we have a son as well, and all 4 of us play MK8 together. It's been quite a ride. Whatever comes next for the series, it'll be hard to top MK8 after all of this.
Correction: When you reentry Earth's atmosphere it is not so much that you "ignite", but, rather, you push the few gas molecules around so hard they become plasma.
Oh my god, they're finally done making this game.
Item boxes were changed so that grabbing one while breaking, at a stop, or going in reverse will now have a lower chance to drop good items. The toxic strategy of intentionally hanging in the back to get the best items present through the entire series is finally dead.
These were the only reason i watched this channel. End of an era. Oh well..bye forever.

NEW ARLO VID🔥🔥🔥
Arlo was so nice to Madrid Drive…and then he proceeds to slap it into F-Tier without a second thought in his tier list.
Arlo moment indeed
Loving the new Courses. I played them on my channel today.
The fact that they got rid of waluigi wiggler meta and sandbagging in the DLC is just so good, made the game better for years to come
I love the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game.
Thanks for confirming the following disappointing news: Wii Rainbow Road no longer lets you drive on the moon's surface. Sad.
Arlo's MK8D DLC coverage needs an anime ending like Evangaleon because it's the most epic anime of all time.
Will miss this fr
3ds MK7 rainbow road is still the best one of all RR tracks in the series. Nothing will ever beat it. Its also my alltime favorite MK track.
No mention of Olimar's SS Dolphin landed on the moon in the Wii Rainbow Road track?! What kind of Pikmin freak are you, Arlo?!
I'm not sure if anyone told you this yet, but Bowser's Castle 3 (like most of the BCP) was remade in Tour.
I cannot believe you haven’t played Mario Kart on the Wii; it’s a classic! Whatever you do next, make sure that game is a part of it.
But yeah Wii Rainbow Road is probably my favorite one. Got a lot of memories of playing as Bowser and smacking everyone off the road. Fun times
I think we will always remember where we were when the Wave 4 review dropped.
Can’t wait for the next DLC wave
about that
There is none.
Mario Kart Wii is such an important game to me. Seeing Wii Rainbow Road fully remastered was such a treat.
6:08 It might've been in Tour, SNES Bowser Castles have never been in 3D Mario Kart games on consoles before this DLC, only GBA Bowser Castles 1, 2, and 3 have.
It is. All of the DLC tracks are from Tour
I think this is one of the best waves. And I also think that the back 3 waves were far superior to the first 3 waves. Imo.
