This one- '"janani mAmavamEye bhArati jaya sarasijAsana jAyE"/ Bhairavi ragam, should not be confused with "mamava sada janani mahisasura sutani (amba)/ Kanada ragam as both are krities of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal. Bhairavi is a janya ragam despite being a sampoorna ragam as it has two different dhaivathams in its scale making it a Bhashanga Ragam, and thus not classified as a melakarta ragam. It is one of the ancient ragams, has been prevalent about 1500 years ago. The raga in this name under Hindusthani music is very different from this version. Hindustani's Bhairavi, in terms of its aroha and avaroha alone, corresponds to Todi of Carnatic music .
Bhairavi is considered a janya of the 20th melakarta Natabhairavi. Its popu;ar Arohaṇa-Avarohaṇa structure is... S R₂ G₂ M₁ P D₂ N₂ Ṡ / S‘ N₂ D₁ P M₁ G₂ R₂ S ( Another set is with a slight difference...ie. an additional G2 in Aohanam... S G₂ R₂ G₂ M₁ P D₂ N₂ Ṡ !!!) " Here Dr K N Renganatha Sharma presented an excellent ritually perfect rendition wtih wonderful tone n diction....... sang the with the bairavi's thrill in modulations....flash brigas that linked the short words of the lyrics to proliferate a melodious eloquence . Charanam 2 n 3 skipped...good niraval with 'anupamita kamalA vAsE ..devi' ......magical swarakalpana with raga phrases...... First Class recital...best wishes
