This is the best presentation of the Maroczy bind I've seen...and the game , what a classic ! The analysis is done with such articulate grace and style. Please keep showcasing the dead legends as you bring them back to life with such pulsating vibrancy.
It is written in Fischar's "My 60 memorable games", "Geza Maroczy left a strange legacy: the discovery that a certain type of Pawn formation imposes a near-decisive cramp on the opponent." This was essentially the positioning of a pawn on c4 by white in response to several varieties of the Sicilian Defence. This pawn was, it seemed, instrumental in imposing this cramp.
Wow, Maroczy's attacking style takes balls. I think his opponent could have done something to blunt the attack, but he didnt. I doubt Maroczy would have succeeded in such an attack vs todays GMs.
5:17 Here if Qb6 one of bishops is goona drop no matter what white does. If C4 to protect the light square bishop then Bishop on D6 drops. white needs to play BxN+ then move the other bishop. Interesting game anyhow.
Brilliant. The game reminded me of another, lesser shown master, Rudolf Rezso Charousek, in whom Lasker saw WCS potential. Sadly Charousek died young from TB. But if memory serves he counted victories over all the GMs of his time: #suggestion ...
At 6:44, what about black qe1 capturing the rook and checking. After white qe1, knight d7 to make room for the king? Just an idea I haven’t thought it out completely and I’m no chess expert obviously
Well, then also it's losing completely, I guess. If Black plays QxR on e1, followed by white queen capturing on e1 , black knight has no safe square to go. d7 and e6 are both covered by the bishop and pawn respectively. As per your move order, black would be down a queen and a knight and that would be an easy win too. No point prolonging the game when you know you've already lost. I guess that explains. Let me know if I missed something :)
It seems maroczy has written a book on Morphy games. Annotated almost all his known games. Still considered the authoritative account on Morphy and referred by many. Someone pls check it out and correct me if I'm wrong. So he was a fan of morphy after all.
The accent on the first syllable is always stressed in Hungarian: mArotsee. The garbage on top of the vowels are not accents but pronunciation indicators. But who knows, the name might be from another language, very common in Hungary.
At 5'59why black don't captured the white bishop with the queen,of course the king have to rest in his place,a queen for a bishop and a rook is completely winning...two rooks, bishop and knight against queen and bishop
"You all remember the strong Hasting's tournament of 1895..." Well of course, that goes without saying, do go on...
+passengerplanetearth :D
My great-great-uncle killed one of the organisers of that tournament!

Lmaooooo
Ha ha I had the same thought
For someone who recently started playing chess I have to say I love this community
Active Sorter i dont even play chess but im watching these videos all day long 😂
Probably my favourite game so far. His early sacrifices make it look like he predicted the game before the first move was played.

One of the best games I have ever seen.

I love the fact that you know so much chess history. It really gives great substance to the games you highlight.
Something relentless about this attack. Yes, certainly a real beauty. Many thanks for presenting it.
Am I the only one spending the whole day on internet watching chess videos and playing games lol?
Me toooooo
Currently writing my master's thesis, but I can't help but watch these videos :D
You are not alone, my friend.
Not me. I also view a lot of NASA/ESA/ISS pace videos.
"Not me" ... "Also" 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Thanks, Antonio! Excellent example of romantic chess ownage :-)
Greetings from Serbia , good job bro :)
I'm a fan of the famous medo-bind - where I get a leash put on and get to go for a walk.
Beautiful. Ineffable is the word actually. What a beautiful game. Thanks
I love time traveling. Your rookie years AGADMATOR.👏👏
Your didn't say "And in this position.. Chigorin.. resigned.. the game" 😔
I've given up and just started 'liking' agadmator's videos as soon as I open them.

✌👍Thanks for the game.
This channel definitely has been getting more viewers as evident by the quality comments its been getting lol

Love your channel. How about a Max Euwe game? (I have no suggestions I'm afraid)
Yes I second a Euwe game! Max Euwe, the modest gentleman of chess!
More like symphony. He directed this game beatifully
#suggestion plz show nakamura vs anand of London chess classics 2017
wow, music is flowing!

Maroczy actually defeated Charousek in a match :)
agadmator's Chess Channel Yes, and visa versa...
+Hallands Menved Oh? Didn't know that. Thanks :)
Yes, I haven't checked their mutual standings, but I think they met three times in Budapest, where Charousek won 2 and Maroczy 1...

Makes sense. Maybe making a miracle happen with the 2 rooks and the bishop. Highly unlikely though lol. Thanks for the reply
I'd read that Maroczy was good, but... damn... And against Chigorin no less!
#suggest : Maroczy playing (& winning! [lol]) the Maroczy Bind. [smile] Thanks.
#suggestion please do a Vienna Gambit game! :D

Who needs knights anyway
🔥🔥🔥
This makes me a proud Hungarian :)
Interesting chess fact, but what if maróczy haf 170 draws?
+ agadmator .. pls show Nakamura vs Anand London Chess Classis 2017.
Why did maroczy not just capture the pawn on f6 instead of moving to e7 at the end? Is there a reason I'm not seeing?
Is it cause black could move to c7 to defend the g7 square?
I do enjoy ur video, and bye for now :D
Fajar Mulyawan
dude that was evil🤣🤣
+Fajar Mulyawan :P :)
A dubious opening
"A strong attacking game against Mikhai-"
This looks like a Tal game.
Any live stream today agadmator?
Why you are not covering tal memorial?
Re-do This Game At 60fps 😁
Actual video starts after 3 mints
My love Antonio, if it's not a quote, no quotation marks
Vienna 1882 coverage soon
cool game gg
Dubious defense... oh, wrong channel.
BraiNDEAD I know that dubious guy suren

Who's coming from the last video out
I thought the title said mikail tal
Did you know Chuck Norris checkmated me with only his King?
For those of you who want an easier line for black, try 4.........Bg7
Maróczy played 189 games in 8 years. I played 450 in a month and I can't pass 700 barrier. :'(
Result would have been different if it was Mikhail Tal instead of Mikhail Chigorin😉

Would you analize some game played by Lithuanian chess GM and also would be nice to see more games played by women.
:)
First!
First like!
