Gotta love the girl at 5:23 enjoying the jazz at Newport in between reading passages of Alexandre Dumas' 'Camille' (1848). Nothing against Rock and Roll (love it), but Five will get you Ten you can't find a similar scene in any "Beatles" concert footage.
@WaldoLydecker Jazz on a Summer's Day encapsulates a great time in Jazz music! Miss Anita OWNED that stage and I heard she was a fantastic woman who could hold her own against ALL of the boys! O’Day was a SHE-RO!!!
@@edwardevans652 - If you are a fan of Anita O'Day, then if you haven't already, recommend you review her recordings with the Gene Krupa Orchestra, circa 1941-43. This is the material that first made her a star. She sang multiple duets with trumpeter Roy Eldridge that arguably were the first of their kind in America. The 2007 documentary film, "Anita O'Day: The Life of a Jazz Singer" chronicled her life story and is worth viewing.
Love Anita! One of the greatest singers of all time.
She was indeed the cat's pajamas!
She is my favorite jazz singer ever!
