    The connection between all four is amazing. Their timing is impeccable. Anita is such a strong leader. And they are so free, spontaneous and unselfish in their playing (including Anita). It doesn't get any better.

    Queen O'Day is swing/jazz master.
    Learn and respect her.
    She beyond deserves it.
    I'm a singer, and have no fuc*i&g clue as to how she does this.
    She is a one of a kind, amazing.
    Rest in peace Queen.

    Thrilled to have found this video. For years, this rendition of "On A Clear Day" has echoed in my mind, having had the LP in my college days. To actually SEE her do this performance, as well as listening to it again, is a rare treat. This video captures her at a peak in her career. I saw her in Boston in the early 80's, and she was still phenomenal. Truly a genius of a singer.

    • @LudvigC
      @LudvigC 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Ricardo da Mata "a better singer" - you make it sound like an objective truth? There are many aspects of jazz vocals: voice, timing, melodic interpretations, swing, diction, attitude, etc, etc. Personally I just can't stand big-vibrato singers like Vaughan, even though they have "great voices" in the traditional sense. But that's me!

    I was in Paris for the same concert some days before or after, and the public booed during all her set. I feel so sad of it though I was at the background trying to hear, and loving what she was singing. I still love it.

    • @waynej2608
      @waynej2608 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Why/how in the name of all things sacred, would she be booed? I'm having real difficulty trying to wrap my mind around that one. Is it a 'French thing'? I thought the French, certainly Parisians, dug jazz.

    the stabilizing effect that was done to this video is doing some really odd things in certain shots. It looks weird.

    • @powenmoore
      @powenmoore 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. It's mainly a matter of the West German Radio logo wafting around in the upper left corner.
      The logo was stable in the version I uploaded; the stabilizing was TH-cam's doing.
      The upside is that camera wobble is reduced and better esp in closeups. The downside is that many frames are cropped a bit, plus the floating logo.

    • @mrlopez-pz7pu
      @mrlopez-pz7pu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      powenmoore
      its doing strange things to Anita's face also - there are times when the stabilizing technique is so efficient that when she is still & her lips are moving, it actually stabilizes her face to such a degree that it looks as if her lips were superimposed over a still image of her. Its freaky! :)
