I bought the HWK Jacket and pants 18 months ago and whilst the jacket protects me reasonably well, the pants are a different story. Riding the Dolomite mountains (northern Italy) in mild weather, my legs almost cooked in the pants as they don't breathe at all. The liner isn't removable and I had to wash them every 2 days as they stank. In heavy rain, they soon leaked in the crotch area. I should have put the money towards a quality product.
Yeah these are definitely more of a low cost 'disposable' product. If you're not the type who crashes and needs to replace your pants often, it's probably worth the money to get a better pair
They are definitely great for the price. I upgraded the knee pads to the DO3 CE level 2 pads, and that made them even better in comfort and protection. My only complaint is that you can’t adjust the height of the knee armor like you can with more expensive riding pants. I actually had to sew the pads in so they would ride where I needed them to. Other than that, no complaints. I wish more pants had belt loops, but very few riding pants come with belt loops anyway. Klim Merakesh is the only pair I know of.
I actually just ordered a pair of Klim Mojave pants for the summertime. I wore the HWK pants for 2 1/2 summers, and decided to get something that breathes better. I’ll still be wearing my HWKs during the cooler months though.
I wear these in cold riding for the last 4 years. I wore them today. They are a bit sweaty above 70F and uncomfortable to me in peak summer. When new they were very water resistant. If temps drop below 35, I wear them over jeans or longjohns.
Thanks for the replies. I bought a pair and I totally agree. Great pants for the money, definitely not for higher temps, and with some thermals they make cold weather rides far better. Thanks again!
I need a good pair of over pants. I scoot to both my jobs, and have a bunch of stuff in my pockets and on my belt and changing 4 times a day doesn’t sound great
I purchased a pair, was down in Sturgis couple weeks ago it was 100 degrees yup I got really sweaty. I really think these are a great deal for the price I’ve also worn them in a bad rainstorm and I was completely dry . I would recommend them and when these wear out I’ll buy another pair
They are very water resistant. You need to ride in the rain for 30 mins or so before it starts to soak through. They're waterproof when you first get them, but I think they have a coating on them. It washes off in yhe washing machine.

I wasn't sure, at first, but ordered one and no regrets. Used it at 45F and it keeps you warm. Great price for what you get.

I love my hwk pants. Great price too.

My waist is 37, should I get size 36 or 38?
@@TomL2025 the only thing I can tell you is that my waist measures 39” with a tailors tape, and my pants have a tag that says XL.

BILT has some good ones with belt loops
Thank you for this video😘
Have you ridden in cooler temperatures? 35-40? If so do they keep you fairly warm and do they fit to size?

I wear a pair of long johns under mine when cold riding. Im good in freezing temps with heavyweight thermals. Great pants for the money !

I have definitely slid these pants over jeans before. It works well and lower temperatures.

Go for the size up. They cinch down around the waist with elastic Velcro so bigger is fine.
how fast were you going when you scuffed the knee
It happened off-road at about 25mph
What are they like in hot weather?
I wear mine in temps up to 70-75° F. Anything past that and my legs get sweaty when I stop.

I see what you did there. Waist down. 😅
Garbage. Didn’t last a 45 minute ride before the inside of the leg ripped out.
