Three of my very favorite contemporary Theologians sitting on the same stage; that to me is the essence of happiness for me! Addressing my thoughts about each of them individually I must begin with Dr. MacArthur. He has to be the most knowledgeable one overall, with RC running a close second. His total recall of Scripture is phenomenal, and how he so easily fits this knowledge so quickly to each and every question is fascinating. I have read, over the past 26 years, all of Dr. MacArthur's Commentaries and they have been a great influence on me. I attempt to watch the bulk of his video sermons. Because I feel so entrenched with his theology, I have purchased numerous "MacArthur Study Bibles" for my family and friends. He is an! unwavering rock of Christianity! Dr. Sproul seems to possess a more philosophical approach since the background he brings to the table is Theological Philosophy (if that is an accepted definition). The first Doctrinal Christian Book I read after my conversion was "The Holiness of God"; and it has always been foremost in my mind, especially when he describes being 'called' at the midnight hour from his Dorm to the College Chapel! On a personal front, he reveals a more jovial character in his sermons than does MacArthur. Both are absolutely superb in their understanding and proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I must admit that I also possess a dozen or so Commentaries by Dr. Sproul and thoroughly enjoy his style. His untimely death was a very difficult time for me! Dr. Michael Horton is a special stalwart figure for Reformation Theology (not that the other two are not), but the several books I have read by him are more lent to the Reformed Theology teaching even though I certainly recognize that trait in the other two above. Dr. Horton certainly is much younger than both of the above gentlemen, but in his relatively short time on the circuit possesses a wonderful appreciation of the Reformed Faith and brings that out in his lectures/sermons! Having said all that, I enjoy these three men to the utmost both for their knowledge of the Gospel and their ability to bring it to the pulpit and successfully convey the Gospel message to all who have "ears to hear"! Blessings to all, D.O'D. - B.A., Th.M.
You mention R. C. Sproul's death as untimely? Have you told God, He got it wrong? Carl, an ambassador of Christ. (Think that trumps any of man's titles.)
@@carljones8334, I will take your comment as being friendly rather than in the somewhat sharp tone it first impressed upon me. As for the titles, another sharp tone. I worked hard for those degrees...Thank you.
@@carljones8334They marveled that they were ignorant and unlearned men but they could tell that they had been with Jesus. (I think that's in Acts.) I would like people to know me as someone who knows Jesus! I'm with you on the uselessness of titles. Even Paul said "Greet the brethren by name." I hate when people call each other sister or brother at church, or address leaders by their titles. I think the apostles would have cringed at that. Their titles are what they do, it doesn't define who they are. Maybe I take it too far, idk.
Becoming "un-churched" freed me from your coveted religious systems that teach how to come to God..But through his Grace God comes to me...Which is why Jesus went to the cross, died, and was resurrected to enable believers to have a personal relationship with HIM through the holy spirit and Christ in me🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You know what eliminates doubt and strengthens faith? Witnessing! What an honor that He uses us to share the gospel. Allowing us to watch the Holy Spirit justify a person right before our eyes. I’ll tell you, when God directs you to a person, and you obediently share, then the person understands and prays with you… you have no “doubts” at all.
Its good to hear this kind of preaching teaching oh that these programs could be aired on mainstream channels in the u.s. and worldwide. and john MacArthur's. R.c. Sproul's. Sermons. daily... Instead of most of the other needless programs people have no choice...
How in the world could Pastor John do so much without Divine Faith!! When “bad” things happen to me (e.g., breakdowns of “stuff”) I too start praising God for removing the lesser to make room for the greater. However, breakdowns in relationships and my own mental health are still being tested and I’m still freaking out, at least temporarily. But I know 100 💯 for certain that GOD is with me and He’s planning something special and spectacular for me and all I love. So love is really above ☝️ all, shielding me from everything evil and that’s enough for now. ❤️

It is May 2023. I discovered R C in 1971-72 and never let a week go by but I listened to his cassette tapes, began reading his materials...and living in Wisconsin, he then in PA, I never had means to see him live or have opportunity to attend/or join St. Andrews when many years later, late 1990's he was Pastor at the newly built Reformed church in Fl. I felt badly when he died in 2018(?) and even now-me at 79, disabled and many of the fine preachers that were at all the great conferences...that I see, truly almost every day...well, I pray all new men coming to replace all our fine old sound, solid preachers will be as fine as these men. I'm so thankful for G-d and the gift of Drs Sproul, MacArthur, and Horton. I absolutely agree with Dr Sproul when he discusses worship and that worship seems to have been focused on the unbeliever. I just finished another Q&A video like this with Dr Sproul and Dr MacArthur, and they touched on the topic of evangelizing and it being weighted towards unbelievers (at that time) and winning souls, which is a part of it, but (my interpretation of their responses) at the cost of feeding His sheep (John 21:17). It was part of a broader discussion about the state of the church and the body of Christ as there were comments about one of the challenges of the church and pastoring being that (in my words) the sheep don't read His Word. This reminded me of Hebrews 5:12-14 and 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, with the Apostle Paul addressing believers in the body of Christ and how the need in the church was to constantly feed milk with few, if any, progressing to meat in their walk with Christ. Likewise, with worship, it seems like churches today carefully curate worship to reach unbelievers through emotive outreach and vice "feeding His sheep." I can't help but wonder if part of it is due to the reported decline in church attendance, falling behind other religions numerically speaking, or trying to connect and resonate with and capture the eyes, ears, minds, and hearts of the unbelieving contemporary culture primarily through emotions. There is no doubt that reaching the lost is an important part of evangelizing and that every believer and follower goes through a progression from being born again to being fed milk and progressing to eating meat. But I can see where churches prioritize and emphasize sermons and worship toward unbelievers and/or (at best) constantly feeding milk to His sheep, and how that impacts pastoring and ministering. In sum, it places culture above His Word and creates a cultural Christ vice Christ's truth transforming culture. Or, as another one of my favorite pastors, Dr. Voddie Bauchaum, said (apologies if I'm not verbatim), "My Jesus isn't the sissified, long flowing blond hair, and lamb over the shoulder Jesus." His Word is sufficient and perfectly written and Jesus's perfect Word, truth, and message is "G-d-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of G-d[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

9:25 Amazing Answer from John "No man has a right to live, take one more breath. Since the soul that sins shall die and the wages of sin is death. The fact that we even take another breath is God suspending the just punishment."
I am about to say something that may enrage many. The "Church" is not needed for salvation, but the Body of Christ is. That being said those large beautiful buildings that we all as Christians gather in, are essentially and most especially in the "Churches" of today, are Christian Social Clubs. Now with that being established. Docternal Statements are an absolute must for "Churches", and are imbasilic for the Body of Christ. - (If you can wrap your mind around that one, your on the right track in my book) Church Membership and Membership Classes along with a Membership Oath and Contract, again are an absolute must for "Churches", and are imbasilic for the Body of Christ. IF the above statement doesnt apply to you or your Church, please dont make your fingers tired with a response. =D
God has a sense of humour, think about it...we can only know what we know, and in terms of understanding it all, I’m happy to say “I don’t know”. The more I try, the least sense it makes. That’s for God. God bless you, and keep you.
I've battled with depression for decades. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I wasn't filled with "peace" per se. Not joyful. But, very scared about a possible bone marrow transplant 100 miles away. But, the social worker said, "you have a quiet strength and endurance. not everyone has that." When someone thought I was going to lose my faith, I found it rather silly. (Why would I do that?) God got me through. When I was offered a fourth, optional set of chemo (a 5 week long process, then 2 week recovery), I said, "Yes!" because I knew that if I relapsed after 1-1.5 years, I'd be kicking myself for not going through the extra set. Then, I'd be back at square one and likely would have to get a bone marrow transplant. I didn't end up going through a bone marrow transplant, because none of my siblings matched me. I went through the fourth optional set of chemo. I prayed if I should participate in a clinical trial, that would require me to inject myself 2-4x each day for months. I'd feel sick for months. Well, they picked me for the control arm (a random selection), and said I didn't need to inject myself, because I'd be gaining no benefit. I later heard that the drug was NOT effective, so I would have gone through a miserable time for no reason at all. Well, it's been ove 20 years and I've never relapsed. God knew what would get me through. And he guided my path. He gave me the strength I needed. Now, I'm more able to talk to those that have cancer as when my dad had cancer 17 years ago. God is good. All the time.
people don't want to give up control. but there are maybe half a dozen passages that might be taken to imply free will, set against the entire rest of the bible makes it incredibly clear that God is the impetus behind your belief.
I seriously cannot believe people believe there is no such thing as free will, that all your choices are pre-chosen, pre-ordained. What a sad waste. What a rejection of personal responsibility. If you have no free will then you are not responsible for the choices you make. According to this reasoning we cannot despise Hitler because he couldn’t help himself.
@@lelandro42 You completely misunderstand Calvinism. Your choices are your choices and you are responsible for them. You can run to Christ any time you want, why don't you want too?
“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.” Isaiah 45:7✝️ The Lord does as it pleases Him And He is perfect in all His ways Amen
Here's my question. Why is it that when a question about why someone is not saved after growing up in a fundamentalist, evangelical, bible -believing home, does a panel of staunch Calvinists answer the question from an Arminian perspective? The question at 16:35 should be easily answer by all three Calvinists on that panel, namely that "God didn't choose that person to be saved" - or - "God passed over that person" (for all the infra's out there)."
I love both of these men. There preaching is sound. BUT why does our entire country feel ok calling Sunday the Sabbath? Why do we not just go back to Saturday. PS I am not a seventh day adventist. This is a real problem for me with the modern church. It's not that we worship on Sunday necessarily, but more that we declare Sunday to be the Lord's day and refer to it as the Sabbath.
Thus answered so so many difficult questions and concerns I had regarding predestination. I was so CERTAIN I WAS RIGHT, but nope haha. Thank you for answering what I literally asked God to reveal.
That’ll happen as our journey continues. The moment we think we have God figured out (aka the moment we manage to put God into the little box that we have created for Him), he laughs(lovingly) in our face and throws us a curveball to turn our world upside down and break that box wide open. Ask me how I know this 😄

My advice for those who sew seeds is to watch your own garden grow. I raised a variety of plants including huge sunflowers 🌻 The basil 🌿 did the best and no critters ate it: some thug(s) destroyed sunflowers at night, some simply died for no reason I could figure out. Some neighbors were jealous and some were jubilant to walk by and behold beauty. I couldn’t control any of this outcome but no garden would have even happened if I had not sewn seed and daily watered it. [Don’t bother to give me an 👍 or ❤️- this acknowledgement has already been applied while being written] 😎

Blessings to all,
D.O'D. - B.A., Th.M.
You mention R. C. Sproul's death as untimely? Have you told God, He got it wrong?
Carl, an ambassador of Christ. (Think that trumps any of man's titles.)
@@carljones8334,
I will take your comment as being friendly rather than in the somewhat sharp tone it first impressed upon me.
Becoming "un-churched" freed me from your coveted religious systems that teach how to come to God..But through his Grace God comes to me...Which is why Jesus went to the cross, died, and was resurrected to enable believers to have a personal relationship with HIM through the holy spirit and Christ in me🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I sure do love these sermons and sessions that you share! Thank you "Grace to You" and Pastors!

Great questions and great answers!! Love these men... Rest in joy r.c!!! What a servent to God!!!
Rest in joy indeed, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
I'm very fortunate to hear from the likes of these men of God...Here, in India most people are sucked into evangelical doctrine (signs, miracles, healings, etc.) and prosperity/word of faith/NAR preaching doctrine have a vice like grip In most part of the South East Asian countries especially India and Nepal...I have just recently been listening to RC Sproul, MacArthur and many others and just have come to know about the Reformation, Trinity, Solas, penal substitution, etc., and I just blown away as to how accurate and clear the Bible really is...

Congratulations to RC Sproul for entering the glorious presence of the Almighty God!!!

I miss R C badly...he and Martyn Lloyd-ones were the TWO greatest preachers in 220th century.
I praise God in hearing the message of God's word from these men of God Ptr John mac Rc sproul andPtrHorton

Likewise, with worship, it seems like churches today carefully curate worship to reach unbelievers through emotive outreach and vice "feeding His sheep."
I can't help but wonder if part of it is due to the reported decline in church attendance, falling behind other religions numerically speaking, or trying to connect and resonate with and capture the eyes, ears, minds, and hearts of the unbelieving contemporary culture primarily through emotions.
I'm watching this Thanksgiving 2022

Hasim Hodzic why bother doing my best? If this life is already pre-projected and pre-determined what difference does it make if I do my best or not?
@@lelandro42 Because you're obligated to go to Christ and you do not know God's sovereign will. I'll tell you what the difference is, if you fail to trust in Christ you will go to Hell.
Mountain Fisher that is circular reasoning. Why and by whom am I obligated, God? So I’m obligated to do good by the One who predestined me to hell whether I do good or not? Again, you didn’t answer my question. You basically said “just because.”
@@lelandro42 Don't obey , but you will still answer to God. It isn't circular reasoning on our level, you have a real choice, up to you.

- (If you can wrap your mind around that one, your on the right track in my book)
Church Membership and Membership Classes along with a Membership Oath and Contract, again are an absolute must for "Churches", and are imbasilic for the Body of Christ.
IF the above statement doesnt apply to you or your Church, please dont make your fingers tired with a response. =D
Very good that you postscript the question being answered.
True, true. However scripture explicitly denies free will in lots of passages. Keep on keeping on brother.
Laine Gordon so you choose the abundance of scriptures affirming your belief and just deny the ones that challenge it?
I seriously cannot believe people believe there is no such thing as free will, that all your choices are pre-chosen, pre-ordained. What a sad waste. What a rejection of personal responsibility. If you have no free will then you are not responsible for the choices you make. According to this reasoning we cannot despise Hitler because he couldn’t help himself.
@@lelandro42 You completely misunderstand Calvinism. Your choices are your choices and you are responsible for them. You can run to Christ any time you want, why don't you want too?
@@MountainFisher Look at lelandro42's first comment, he is asking Laine Gordon how he can dismiss the scriptures that point to God's sovereignty.
The only thing that could have made this better was if John Lennox was present. Awesome video, thanks for posting.

Calvinism is a blunt instrument and ends up unable to rightly divide the Word of Truth.
Its not seeking the benefits of God . Its seeking the Lord.
I wish I had a friend like R.C.
Oh this has just made my day!
