  • Today I’m getting really personal with you guys and talking about my heart palpitations. This has been an on going issue for me and I feel like it consumes my life. If there’s anyone out there struggling with heart palpitations I want you to know that you are not alone. This is such a scary thing to be going through and it’s even scarier when you feel alone. I’m putting myself out there in hopes that someone can relate to what I’m going through and offer me their advice. I’m at my breaking point and thinking I might get an ablation but not 100% sure yet.
    Hey everyone!! I’m finally getting a heart ablation and uploaded a new video talking about it below!

    I have dealt with these for 16 years, this happens on a daily basis. I get heart flutters where my heart all of a sudden just starts beating sooo fast then goes back to a normal rythem, I get it where the heart seems to pause for a second or 2 and then an almighty thump, that has nearly cause me to pass out a few times, Its caused panic attacks that last longer than the normal, I mean full on rolling about the floor thinking I'm about to die, all started when I lost my father when I was 17, and to this day (32) they still occur, something that affects my daily life but live with it and try my best to get on with life. When you deal with it for soooo long, so many years its constantly on your mind. I cant even sleep on my front as all I hear is thump thump thump, I completely understand what your going through....I actually wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

      Same, I sleep in a position that doesn’t allow me to hear the thumping. That helps me relax, although I can still feel the thumping

      I totally understand I’ve been having them for over a year and a half now I’ve taken 1 million test everything came back normal thank God but it doesn’t feel good it’s very scary no matter what any doctor says. They all started one day after my mother had passed I started having a really bad panic attacks and my heart started skipping fluttering you name it and it’s been happening ever since. If there was a way or something I can do to make them stop and get my life back to normal it would be a big life changer for me seriously!!!!

    Thanks so much for making this video. I’m glad I found it to know that I’m not the only person going through this. I thought I was alone. I’ve been trying to find any person who I could relate to. I’ve been having heart palpitation issues ever since having my daughter in July. They started a week after having her. I saw everyone, my OBGYN, Cardiologists, GI doctor because I was having GI issues along with it. After seeing everyone & everyone says they didn’t see anything & I was fine. I chalked it up to anxiety. So after I thought I figured out it was just anxiety I was able to calm down a lot. It stopped it for a while & then one day I wasn’t anxious no nothing, I felt a flutter or a skipped beat again. I was like ohh my gosh, & I tried to shrug it off & stay calm. But months have went by & 6 months later I’m still having them every couple days, they’ll stop & then I feel them again & I just can’t even figure out a pattern. Which is really frustrating because you don’t know what’s triggering them. I have found though when I eat a big heavy meal after eating nothing for too long I’ll get a big thud, I guess a skipped beat but it’s just one & then it’ll go back to normal. It just really scares me & I feel the same as what you were saying. I get scared that I’m going to die & not be there for my daughter or my boyfriend. It’s so nerve racking & it has me crying in shambles every time it happens & I just want it to go back to normal. Thanks for sharing your story.

    Magnesium - which is very limited in our modern diet - & potassium deficiencies can be very contributory to palps. I used to get them quite a lot when on low carb diet, but since going plant-based with lots of fresh fruit & veg I hardly ever get it at all, & if I do, taking some magnesium citrate, Malate, taurate or Glycinate makes a difference.
    I followed (persevered with) low carb Keto for over 8 years & it messed me up big-time. Eventually sent my insulin resistance into orbit. I also had issues digesting animal protein all the way through, regardless of what I tried. Defeated, I had no choice but to go plant-based, & within 4 weeks my blood sugar dropped & my insulin sensitivity returned. I now eat more or less to the #masteringdiabetes protocol.
    Palpitations rarely are a heart issue although it may seem like it - they are more likely to be a digestive issue. If the digestion is struggling, it is obviously going to affect other organs, putting extra strain & nutritional requirements on them, including the heart.

    Hi- I too have palpitations every single day. They only started happening after I got glandular fever (mono) and I’ve had them for about 4 years- seen a cardiologist, been to the hospital with a racing heart many a time, had so many ECGs/EKGs and they’ve never said anything apart from that they’re “benign” and that I’m fine and it’s probably my anxiety. I live with these every day and they TERRIFY me. I’m having another 48 hour monitor on Thursday and I feel like my palps come in cycles, right now I’m having a bad time with them but a few months down the line I might not notice them as much and this always happens, not sure what triggers the bad weeks/months but I’m living in hell, makes me so panicky. I can’t walk up stairs without my heart absolutely POUNDING and palpitating, I feel like I can’t exercise I can’t even walk short distance and I’m losing my mind. Have you found any answers recently or anything that’s helped you? It makes me miserable, I have no quality of life and I’m 21 years old. When I go out I dread the racing heart the next day or if I eat a big meal, it’s horrible.

They happen when I lay in bed, when I bend down and stuff like that. My ECG that I had came back normal and I’m taking folic acid at the minute for a foliac deficiency. Me tio, it’s the worse feeling ever! I have been to the ER so many times that they know me on a first name based. Mine are PVC’s. Have had all the tests (stress, echos, nuclear, halter, BP monitoring) they say all is well with the heart, but unless you have gone through this you can’t imagine the fear that is felt! Even though I have had all the test and know my heart is ok, I always think what if this is the one time it’s not! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also would like to mention how dismissive some cardiologist have been toward me, like ok it’s all in my head, or you need to relax!!!! It’s so very frustrating! I feel your pain, and know exactly how you feel. 🙏🏽

    Hey Jenna, you are definitely not alone! I have suffered with pvcs for years, and had every test under the sun, and apparently they are just a thing I have to cope with. My pvcs seem to come and go in cycles. I don't think cutting things out of your diet is the answer, it's probably more about adding things your body may need. I don't think carbs or caffeine are the culprits and you can even read about the caffeine aspect of it online. I have come to realize I just have to live my life, and be happy knowing they will go through a lesser cycle eventually again. Chances are yours will do the same. As for the ablation, well, if you haven't already done it get a third and fourth opinion. Doctors are not wizards, and they do not always know what's best, good intentions aside. I hope you have been feeling better, I know you posted this some time ago.

    Thank you so much for posting this video! No one else understands how it feels to get PVCs and palpitations, it's truly awful. Mine started 2 months ago after I was laid off from a very stressful new grad nursing job. I have been to the ER 4 times, seen countless doctors, and the conclusion my primary doctor came to was it was anxiety, and they want to put me on a medication. That answer wasn't good enough because they're just guessing, so I'm currently working with a naturopathic physician, and we're still running tests. If you're ever in the Chicagoland area and would like to see her, she's working on curing my illness and not just covering up the symptoms. Did you ever end up getting the ablation? I would be very interested in an update of your condition!

    Don't let palps govern your life. You've been examined so you know your heart itself is healthy. Palps are usually benign. It's a scary feeling when ones heart rhythm is irregular, but there's no danger according to experts. If the heart structure is normal and there are no other symptoms they can very well be caused by anxiety and are harmless. Please listen to Dr Sanjay Gupta on TH-cam. He explains everything about palpitations.

      @@chelseaabernathy5945 Oh believe me I know how terrifying they can be. Ive been suffering 40+ years! What I'm saying is if they're benign, why let them steal your life? Especially if you've been examined by a qualified physician. I lived in terror for a long time, and I feel like much of my life was wasted on worrying. The more i worry, the worse the palps are. I also have panic disorder. I can either practice not being afraid, or spend my life in utter fear! Life is too short for that!

    • @chelseaabernathy5945
      @chelseaabernathy5945 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mingram15 You don't understand. They can steal your life because they are physically uncomfortable. It's not a mental thing all the time. Just because they are benign doesn't mean they don't cause symptoms. The symptoms aren't caused by just anxiety. Something can be benign but still cause physical symptoms. I get chest tightness, short of breath, and no it's not anxiety. I have a "benign" arrythmia that causes palpitations. I have to take medications to reduce the amount of palpitations because they are PHYSICALLY uncomfortable. Not just mental. My cardiologist has assured me my heart is fine. So I know I'm fine. That doesn't take away from the discomfort from the palpitations when my meds aren't working fully. Nobody said anything on my end about being afraid of them. It's the physical discomfort.

Now I noticed them every time I laid my head on the pillow, And my heart beats really hard. But the last 2 days it seems like they're changing , I'll be sleep and then I'll feel like a huge thump.my body kind of jerks. So of course I was scared because I was thinking my heart stopped in start it backup again. But surprisingly I've been really comly's last 48 hours. And with the virus going on I can't even get a heart monitor that I was supposed to get for 24 hours. This is happened to night so far. I should have felt really great throughout the day surprisingly and I did get sleep the night before . but last night I really got no sleep. My eyes feel like they're straining to stay awake and I don't want to let this just me out. And they say these are called boss stressors And anxiety. That's what the doctors have told me. However I've always had anxiety in have never been able to feel it like this period. I'm typically a healthy eater, I drink smoothies every morning usually green smoothies eat all the eggs and baked fish. I don't drink coffee if I do it's rarely. I have cut out my nightly wine as much. Because they say caffeine ,stress,chocolate, excessive alcohol, smoking,being overweight, etc can trigger them. I r been doing yoga and not stressing but this has a mind of its own.my did an EKG and and chest xray, in which the said was normal. My calcium,potassium and magnesium was normal. I'm 30 years old and its ruining my life. I'm going to find a holistic doctor because maybe my ph balance is off. I also read that mold can cause heart palpitations. And I do Have some old in my house which I've been scrubbing away at. I feel better honestly when I'm outside breathing fresh air.we all have to start strong, we will find a cure and help everyone that is going through this. Hi. Thank you for your video. I'm from Hamburg / Germany and I've had it for 30 years. Currently it's so bad that it ruins my life and gives me panic attacks and anxiety. An ablation would totally help me. Yes, I'm afraid of it, but I'm even more afraid of having to live with it

    You`re lucky you narrowed it down to diet. I thinkwhat causes mine is stress. I use Xylotol instead of sugar with a little cinnamon,Quit alcohol, Walk 3 miles a day ,I take Matropilol 25mg. and still get palpatations.I`m planning to eat more often and small meals. I refuse blood thinners and use baby aspirin. I feel so much better when I take the aspirin. I WILL NOT DO THE ABLATION.

    I have had SVT’s my entire life . Heart rates 250 bpm . I had an ablation in 2009 at Emory in Atlanta . I still have what I call flutters for a few seconds but haven’t had a sustained episode since . It seems like trapped gas can induce it . Worrying all the time can make it worse . I know exactly how you feel because it is scary and gets you depressed. You never know when they’re coming . The ablation is not that bad . When they put my heart into the SVT it actually woke me up and doctor told the nurse to give me more sleep med because he couldn’t have me talking to him while he was doing this procedure so I can’t imagine why you would need to be awakened .

      It seems like we have had a similar experience! I get them off and on sometimes lasting all day for weeks even months! Sometimes skipped beats, sometimes tachycardia. I hate tachycardia the most! I believe trapped gas can trigger them. So can stress. They feel awful! Ive had them for 40+ years. I try not to let them stop me from enjoying life. It took a long time and lots of prayer to get me to this point. I'm not even saying that things don't get a bit scary at times. It's not easy, but many people have successfully learned to live with palps.

    Hey Jenna, my advice would be to work with a nutritionist and or Cardiologist. I would forgo the ablation. My opinion would be to figure out a way to live healthier without altering your heart. You explain how scared you are and the anxiety that comes with being scared can trigger the palpitations. Altering your heart so you can go on a diet, work out and drink caffeine does not seem like a good idea. I know many people who live with this and make lifestyle changes for the better without the need for an ablation. You can do this!

    • @jennachesser4798
      @jennachesser4798  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brittany Gregory Hey girl. Thanks for the advice! I saw two cardiologists now and they both are recommending the ablation. And I saw a nutritionist when I was pregnant with Hannah and she was the one that got me on the low carb diet. They think it could be an imbalance when I’m dieting. He basically just told me to cut out bread and sugar. I’m going to wait a little longer to decide on what to do but I am leaning towards the ablation more and more. It’s not just because I want to lose weight, drink caffeine, and exercise. It’s much bigger than that. It’s a constant thing going on with my heart and it’s taking over my life. It’s scary and unpredictable and there’s only so much I can do on my end with meds and diet change to fit it. Nothing seems to be working right now.

      @mercyfulvickv2810 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jennachesser4798 I would say too to not go with ablation. You are doing this to drink coffee and exercise is not a good idea, the risks are a more serious than not being able to drink coffee. Please wait some time, maybe try all other options before doing the ablation.I would take a third opinion too . Also don't let anyone fool you you will be able to drink caffeine after the ablation....that's just not happening dear... Definitely see a nutritionist, Jenna! I had a lot of the symptoms you had (heavy heart-beats, arrhythmia, high resting heart-rate, fluttering, random tachycardia to over 150bpm, anxious, jittery, hand tremors, sense of doom, depressed, etc). I tried a magnesium and potassium supplement which initially worked but then my palpitations got worse... Much worse. Supplements won’t fix the underlying issue of why your body is depleted in certain electrolytes and nutrients. It’s most likely an imbalance with your electrolyte levels and pH levels caused by a Leaky Gut.
    Because of my stomach issues, I was already on a Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, organic diet but the palps seemed to be increasing even though my stomach felt much better. I then removed the healthy foods that can increase Leaky Gut symptoms (removed foods like rice and potatoes). I also added 6-8 cups of salad to my diet (sounds like a lot but it really isn’t too bad because I blend the salad into a smoothie and drink it throughout the day).
    I was able to sleep at night the first full-day I did this!! The palps are almost gone, my resting heart-rate feels normal, and every day I feel stronger and have more energy.
    You should definitely search around until you find a really good nutritionist or functional medicine doctor. Ask them about leaky gut, electrolyte imbalances and the different body pH levels.
    When the body is under stress, it releases cortisol and can deplete your electrolytes and throw the balance of your body off. For me, it was a combination of getting hurt in a bike accident, stress at work, and really bad stomach problems. My heart palpitations were simply my body telling me it was out of balance and needed more nutrients.
    If you have any questions, ask away! You totally got this, Jenna!

    Hey how you doing?
    I’m going to tell you my situation
    So I get palpitation also. Usually my heart beats stops for about a second then keeps beating normal it’ll happen for short and long periods of time. Happens throughout the day and almost everyday. When it does I usually get a headAche, feel dizzy and just don’t feel good. I noticed after I eat a meal my heart starts to beat faster than usual and I feel agitated, it will last until food is digested or so. But heart beat is whatever to me doesn’t bother me as much as the heart skipping that beat which I feel it up my throat like you said. And I just get this weird feeling along with the anxiety. Right now I have a 14 day zio monitor to see what’s going on. But my blood work has always came back good. And also echo cardio gram. I have trouble sleeping at night as you can tell lol by the time I’m commenting on your video. I eat late at night. I don’t usually eat during normal hours. Iam overweight as well. And probably depressed too. One thing that I know forsure is that is all in the head. That’s forsure ! I’ve had this for couple years now

    Thank you for sharing your story. I have the PVCs. I am depressed over them because it happens everyday, mostly at night when I am more relaxed. Rarely ever happens in the day, but it may happen in the day because I work at home now and can be very relaxed. I believe my palpitations are connected to mostly stress. I started a new job and went through hell for several months. Soon as it was over, the palpitations started. I've been through this before when I was in college. The master's program was hard, and that's when I first experienced ongoing PVCs. My cardiologist told me to manage my stress. But since that time, it came every blue moon which didn't concern me, but if I have an extremely stressful event, soon after it's over, The PVCs come daily. I have had my heart race twice while I slept at night. I panic like you did, and was trying to rush to the ER. But by the time I got there, my heart rate dropped back to normal. I associate this with eating sugar at night. The two episodes I had was after binging on sugar right before bed. Then I woke up with my heart beating fast about 30 minutes into my sleep. It never got to 180 like yours (that would terrified me), but I was terrified enough to have an anxiety attack as well. I believe my heart rate has only gone to 130 but that was due to panicking. My heart rate woke me up when it was in the 90s. I panic because my normal heart rate at night is low or mid 70s. So no more night eating at all for me, especially anything with sugar. I will follow up with a cardiologist soon because it's been a few years since this has been a problem. And like you, it's hard to go to bed comfortably because they will start even more when lying down. Sometimes I don't go to bed until super late even though I have to wake up early.

Those both could trigger the palpitations . Maybe it wouldn’t hurt for you to see a cardiologist just to maybe get some answers. I panic with them too😔 it’s aweful

      @mingram15 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They are mostly caused by anxiety, but they get really frightening when they reach 180bpm! Feels a lot different than 130. Deep breathing helps. TH-cam has Doctors who show breathing exercises. Skipped beats are also unnerving. They are mostly harmless according to doctors, but it pays to be examined fir your own peace of mind.

They still scare me now, I constantly get worked up about them and I feel like a can't do anything without worrying about it. My mother has only just started believing me because I had an episode in front of her and my heartbeat went up to 240 bpm ( the highest it's been) and it lasted for 15 minutes, I ended up passing out after it had stopped and when I woke up I just remember feeling really crap and weak and I felt like that for a week. They are so scary to me because they knock me off my feet and cause me to lose my breath. This is an awful thing to have and I wish it would go away .

    I had been feeling heart palpitations all day for about a week. I was unable to sleep that whole time cuz who can rest when you can feel your heart might stop at night if you actually go to sleep.
    One day after work I go to the gym and I start to get lightheaded and felt like was going to pass out. I like to push myself at the gym so normally I'd just brush it off to just getting a hard workout in, but this one didn't feel right to me. I stopped my workout and went to get checked out at a care center. They were worried i might have a heart attack on the spot and ended up getting rushed to the hospital and stayed for 3 days. I had a bunch of EKGs/ECGs, ultrasounds and a stress test. After the stress test they told me I had a strong heart but I have a fairly rare heart conditions known as Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome or WPW Syndrome. That's when you're heart electrical signals don't go straight down your hearts pathway it takes side route down the heart.
    They determined i had a WPW Syndrome episode and that I'm not in immediate risk of anything so I could be discharged. I'm still feeling the heart palpitations all day, but I have no restrictions in my everyday life. And have a follow with the cardiologist in a week. I'm happy I know what it is, but stressed cuz who wants to feel like they're having a heart attack when having a WPW episode.

      I wish I had 20 a day. Try having 500+ a day (that’s what was caught on my last monitor) it’s different for everyone. But when you have them all day, every few beats is a thud and pound then it stops then a big thud again... kinda hard to focus on anything else really. I’ve had heart palpitations ever since I was little. I remember when I was six I got up because I could feel one coming so I got up from sitting, then I fell from being dizzy and I guess I sort of blacked out for a quick second. Then I remember the fuzzy image of my dad yelling my name and asking if I was ok. I am now 15 and palpitations sometimes happen in school and it scares me so bad. I immediately grab my water and drink excessively and try to control my breathing. Sometimes I will just be sitting and when I feel one coming I get up and start pacing right away, I don’t know why but sometimes this helps. I’m the type of person that hates making my parents worry about me so when I told my mom about this I made the palpitations seem better than it is.. even though truly every time the palpitations happens I get extremely scared and think of the worst. I just want this to stop it makes me so sad/ scared. I am planning on telling my parents the seriousness of this soon but I am scared for them being mad at me for waiting this long to tell them how bad this is. I’m also nervous to find out for how serious my condition is. I hate surgery and I don’t want to worry my parents, because mentioning anything about my heart would of course panic any parents. (Not to mention bothering them with bills of anything medical) I am truly scared and I just feel lost and alone. (my palpitations usually last a few minutes, sometimes longer and are accompanied with, dizziness, and shortness of breath) I just want this to stop :( Not to mention I stay very active and I don’t understand why this happens to someone so young, that’s what scares me the most. Getting older I think of things like: “what if I’m driving and a palpitation happens and I loose control of the car and crash?” Also fainting in school or anything like that would be awful. I don’t know as dark as it sounds sometimes I would rather just not be here then deal with this... it’s terrifying.
