no one disputes he's Italian. He said he was Italian, we know where he was born, the Spaniards knew he was Italian - this is literally not a debate smart guy lol
Columbus set off into the complete unknown on a tiny wooden ship not much bigger than a bus with no map and just using the stars to navigate and made the incredible voyage journey FOUR times. He changed the course of history and exploration forever. No country from Canada to Chile would exist without him. He did in fact set foot on what is now the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Colombo, Verrazzano, Caboto, Amerigo Vespucci were Italians. Flavio Gioia inventor of the compass for navigation.
The lands from Canada to Chile already had millions of people there. They already existed well before Columbus came to the Americas. @@Tanno456
Hi.. it's well documented that Columbus was from Genoa. He was northern Italian. Columbus spoke Italian, but he did mostly write in Spanish, which I think creates confusion and mystery about his early education.. You are correct that Columbus didn't explore North America tho.. he was exploring Central America. I think Italian-Americans value Columbus, because he is the most significant (Italian) historical figure in the exodus to America, even tho (like you stated), he ironically didn't settle North America. Columbus started the pipeline from Italy to America, which a lot of people (myself included) still value. peace
