When I went with my son this past January to WDW, we loved looking at all the pins in the shop but hadn't bought any to trade. We stopped in one of the shops at the Polynesian while waiting for dinner reservations to look at them, and the amazing cast member let him pick one for free! We traded it a few times during the rest of the trip (always taking a pic of each to remember). It was a fantastic bit of magic
I’m a pin collector, not a trader. Loved LOVED this video. You’ve helped increase my willingness to mayyyybeee do some trading one of these days, Chris. You always make me smile. Thanks, friend! Good luck finding Hades eventually! ❤❤❤❤
I am also a collector. I purchase a lot of limited edition pins that are park specific or character specific like Stitch or Figment. I also find pin trading to be a blast, however I need pins I don't care about in order to trade with. luckily for me I'm from florida and it's remarkably easy to find disney pins at garage/yard sales down here so that's where I get most of my pins to trade. I also get some of the mystery collections and or limited edition pins i'm not too interested in to trade as well so that someone else who might really want that pin but doesn't neccisarily want to spend money to get it has a chance to.
I also do a lot of unofficial pin trading and my rule is even if it's a pin that I absolutely love, if it is a child, I will trade whatever pin they want because at the end of the day that kid might get an amazing memory from trading for that pin and to me that's more valuable than "I'm keeping it because it's special." The only exception to that rule is if it is a pin I got from my grandmother but I don't normally have those in my display bag anyway.
My mom passed away not too long ago and she would snag pins that went on sale and such. My dad doesn't want them so I inherited a pile of them. I'm trying to build my collection up! I love pirate pins!
We use to trade some but, during 2023 we started to notice there was no good pins on the boards anymore. Anything to would buy to trade was always better then what would show up on the boards. Then shortly after that disney starting doing those other secure boards that you have to buy and open mystery pack in front of them. Which only allows for one trade. :/
Great informational video Chris! I was hoping you’d make an update to your previous beginners pin trading. Magical Adventures approves of this video! To all you beginners: Pin trading and collecting is extremely fun and addicting!
I was just there on Thursday and for the first time went wild trying to find Robin Hood (from the 50's) and I ended up doing the same thing you did...went to every pin trading store including the downtown Disney one by the monorail. I ended up with 2 pins (each for about $20 😅). But now I may be in trouble because trading seems super fun. There is always something new and fun to get into (and expensive) ha!
I like the shadow box idea because you know the ones you are trading are authentic. I love trading but I am so put off by it because of all the fakes. :( If I saw the one from the blind box I wanted in the shadow box it would be fun to see which two you got and then trade for the one you wanted straight away. Great video.
My son and I have been collecting together since 2005. We have several lanyards and a collectors book full of seasonal pins and different sets. We don't usually trade though lol. And now I just buy one or 2 when I go on my annual trip. But I used to buy alot more!
Such a fun video! I have been going to Disneyland my entire life and never understood how the pin trading works. I just may have to give pin trading a try now 👍🏼
I love the pins but I especially love my magnets, I have my whole refrigerator decorated with them and will sometimes just stop and stare, thinking of the great memories. (Happy New Year to you and yours.)
dear Chris. I don't know if you will see this message but I would like to say thank you. although I have only discovered your channel recently I have been a fan of disney parks my entire life. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with a very rare type of blood cancer and have not been able to return to the parks since my diagnosis. I appreciate watching your videos because of all the positivity. your channel has really helped me get through a very difficult year. thank you for providing the content you do as it makes at least 1 person smile (and i'm sure there's a lot more than that)
I pick up a pin every trip and I always shy away from the random boxes only because I’d fall into the chase. I had no idea about the shadow box! Thanks for the tip.
I would like to just say Thank You for the amazing positivity you have in all your videos. Thank you for all the DL Parks and area info. It helped us on our trip out there a few weeks ago. We cant wait to get back there. It has been one of the craziest and most stressful years of my life and your videos have brought us entertainment and positivity. Even as an adult its awsome to see and hear your positive attitude on everything, even when you cant find that sweet pin lol. Hopefully we can make it back out there before too long. Thanks.
Great video Chris!! I do not collect pins however I have a friend is a pin collector/trader and watches PPP. During my trips to Disneyland, I go into a lot of stores to see the latest merchandise and I do run into pins. I have nothing but great hopes for people that participate in pin trading and it's fabulous. I hope that you find Hades in the park sometime. Thanks as always my friend and Disney legend, Chris
I have been collecting Cheshire Cat Pins. Some I have acquired pin trading. Some I have purchased at the Disneyland Resort. Others I have purchased from Ebay. I intentually picked Cheshire Cat because I knew that I could never complete all the Cheshire Cat Pins. I have Cheshire Cat Pins from every Disney Property around the world. There are also official Disney Pins from other places such as the Disney Store in Hollywood.
I was at Disneyland on Christmas Day pin trading at the tables for 3 hours with another pin trader. Wish you could have been here then. I will however return with much more epic pins on May 6th and 7th. Will be at the tables after I use the rope drop “Golden Hour” to get on Indy, Pirates, and Thunder Mountain. After will be getting done chicken at Golden Horseshoe restaurant then should start my trading from 10am(ish) till the 3pm removal time.
One of the fun things about pin trading or collecting is you have a reason to wander the shops a bit more, as they all have different subsets of the overall offerings! (Also, I think the trader you were looking for in DCA is the shop over by Smokejumpers/Soarin ?)
Hey, I've recently discovered that the Little Green Men store in Tomorrowland also has shadow boxes too! So there are a bunch of places that allow you to buy pins and trade for what you'd like!
Hi Chris. Janice is WAY COOLER than Hades. Good luck on finding Hades. The Provost Fam and the PPP Fan Fam are the Coolest and Most Amazing People out there.
I can Pin Trade ALL DAY! Thanks for sharing this video..... We just got back from Tokyo Disneyland and there are NO VILLAINS (seriously NO MERCH! with Villains bcause it brings 'bad luck' to your home? ! ) anywhere in the park. I was NO HAPPY at all about that actually. As I share my Love of all things Villains on my channel. Richard
Thank you Chris for being a bright shining light. I'm a big fan and would love to meet you in person. My wife and I will be in Disneyland January 4th.-7th. It would be amazing to run into you. Anyway happy holidays to you and yours.
I collect pins, but I'm not a trader, but now that I know about that shadow box...who knows?!!! Thanks Chris!!! May have to revist the massive amount of pins I have! LOL
I have a hard time reading so it’s kinda nice when people read the sign because I went when I was very little around age 4 or five and when I was 15, I went to Disney World I told my teacher hey can I have the work? I had a time in case I’m stuck in the rain when I came back they said don’t worry about the working mess.😭 had the same teachers for most of my classes in high school and they knew I was going through a rough patch in life. So it made me smile they pretty much said forces on going to therapy and being there for the family I was the oldest at home at the time. Till my brother moved back in
Some people get a little too serious about these pin collections. I don’t mean everyone, I know it’s a fun hobby and I mean it’s probably not much different from me collecting shot glasses or when I use to collect Pokémon cards, but I’m talking about the ones who go to the park just to stand/sit around in a few spots around the park displaying their collection to trade, I’ve seen a couple who will take up a whole bench. Or the one who’s set up in the dirt right when you go into (I think) Frontierland, almost looking like a mini swap meet at the park lol
Watching you walking around the entire park made me tired 😅 I hope you found Hades eventually. I’ve always loved pin collecting in general. Most of my collection is Hard Rock pins, but i love the few Disney pins i’ve been able to acquire over the years. Thank you for all the tips 😊
Hey CHRIS, I love the evil villains and I try to collect the pins. but, I haven’t been back to Disneyland in sometime I do have a question for you. Can you tell me why they took the evil villain store out? It’s never been the same. I loved it when they used to have the evil villain store. I’m not sure what year was that they took it out completely . PS I just started watching you. I love to hear what you say at the end of every video. It’s always heartfelt, because there’s so many people who fill alone and I think you bring them hope.
I collect pins but have never traded any, usually because I only buy pins that mean something to me. This video, though, makes me want to buy some Muppets set & trade to collect all of them.
I had a cast member in the shop near grizzly river run in DCA refuse to trade a pin from the board with my 8 and 6 year old as they said the pin they wanted to trade was not a ‘authentic Disney pin’, I was a little shocked.
I bought a world map for my room, I’m gonna put a pin on everywhere that I’ve traveled… … but first I gotta travel to the top 2 corners of the map so it won’t fall down
Hey if you’re still at Disney you should swing by and say hi to Steve at Great Moments with Mr Lincoln. We were just at Disney for 5 days and he is a Disney treasure! Tell him his friends from Bakersfield say hi and we’re waiting for the next questions he has for us soon.
I enjoy collecting the pins, but I am not a fan of blind and/or mystery. One thing I have learned is if you want to get something, just do it ASAP. You can always buy other pins elsewhere. You should have just gone for the Janice right away. I learned this lesson years ago regarding a seasonal plush that went away the next day. When we came back a year later, it was back. What I liked was how you hit all the places I like to go to buy pins as well. I like to try to assemble themed lanyards. A favorite new tradition we have is the "Pin Lanyard challenge", where the kids pick everything and I wear it during the trip. The only rules are we have a budget, only 1 free item and it has to have 1 item to show the year. As far as the rest of the collection, I'm starting to display in shadow boxes so I can enjoy them instead if having them in organizer drawers. Thanks for the video, it was almost like being there with you.
I never heard of pin trading before but it sounds expensive. Also my wife and I have the same (rare) pin. We got it for taking a tour at DL in August. I would trade but I don’t know what to trade for.
Please Chris or anyone correct me if I am wrong but I thought the ones with Mickey on them that you said don’t trade for were cast member pins and they only way to get them was to trade for them?
I just want to start collecting pins. Is there another way than a lanyard? I don't like things around my neck. I have a phobia that it's going to choke me and I start to not breathe as well.
I'm always hesitant to start pin colleting because it's never ending. Lol.
I wonder if they pin trade in heaven
@baseball90242 even if they do, you can't take your collection with you. Lol
Yeah, it be like that, but it’s a fun activity if you go all the time.
Exactly ❤
It’s true.. I’ve been trading/ collecting Disney pins since 2001. 🙈 you meet so many wonderful people in the community though!
When I went with my son this past January to WDW, we loved looking at all the pins in the shop but hadn't bought any to trade. We stopped in one of the shops at the Polynesian while waiting for dinner reservations to look at them, and the amazing cast member let him pick one for free! We had so much fun collecting pins in November. We started on pressed pennies too.
My mom passed away not too long ago and she would snag pins that went on sale and such. My dad doesn't want them so I inherited a pile of them. I'm trying to build my collection up! I love pirate pins!
im sorry about your mom, but so cool that you continued on that hobby, wow
I didn't know about the shadow boxes throughout Disneyland. Thanks!😃

"We Got Janice" should be a single on Spotify. 😂

I loved this type of video! I had fun going along with you in search of the infamous “hades” pin 😂 please take us along more shopping adventures
I love the pins but I especially love my magnets, I have my whole refrigerator decorated with them and will sometimes just stop and stare, thinking of the great memories. (Happy New Year to you and yours.)
I love Disney Pin Trading. One of my favorite things to do in Disneyland!
They have a Hawkeye pin @4:52. 😢 Wish I could afford to go to Disney. 😭 Thanks for the video.
Always fun to go on the hunt with you. Love the inspirational messages always so positive and uplifting.
I started with a kingdom hearts pin I found in one of the shops. I love this hobby.

Thank you Sir.

Never been into pins but loved this video. I wouldn’t mind a few of the best pins of my fav characters… 😅
That was fun! I haven't tried pin trading.
“I’m amazing” 😌
Thank you Chris 🫶🏻
can not believe you traded beaker! He's my favorite.
You should Now do a video on where they have the shadow boxes for Secret Reveal That way for future pin trading
This was great information. Thank you for taking us along.
Excellent info. Love pin trading. Happy hunting
I collect pins, but I'm not a trader, but now that I know about that shadow box...who knows?!!! Thanks Chris!!! May have to revist the massive amount of pins I have! LOL

I love the Disney pins. Also today is my Birthday.
Love pin collecting thank you for this awesome video sending you happy thoughts and blessings ♥️🎄
This is how log I have been pin collecting. I got upset when they increased the pin prices to $6.00!
The first time I ever even heard of pin trading was the recent news article about shutting down pin trading in Frontier Land
I love Disney pins!!! ❤ good luck finding Hades!
We love you pin videos 😍
Muppets set is awesome!❤

sorry for all the comments, lol

I went to Disney for a month ... 25-30k steps a day 😅
i love pin trading. My goal is always to find Tinkerbell pins :-)
Hey Chris! It's NEVER a mistake to go for Janice...fer sher, really!!!!!! Hahahahahahaha!
Hey CHRIS, I love the evil villains and I try to collect the pins. but, I haven’t been back to Disneyland in sometime I do have a question for you. Starting with Haites is a good way to teach kids about horrific monster villains. 😂
I collect pins but have never traded any, usually because I only buy pins that mean something to me. This video, though, makes me want to buy some Muppets set & trade to collect all of them.

my rarest pin is one featuring the Nemo crabs....heeeeeyyyy!
Oh Chris!!! I got a Hades pin in Wlt Disney World this summer.purchased with you in mind. Let me know if you want to trade...
Did you have fun, Chris? Looks like you had a “pin-ball!!”
ask: Couldn't one pin gift store "call" the other one in Downtown Disney and ask if they had a Hades? That would save on shoe leather.
I bought a world map for my room, I’m gonna put a pin on everywhere that I’ve traveled…
… but first I gotta travel to the top 2 corners of the map so it won’t fall down
First 😂 love your videos ❤
You can get Haydes next time. It'll be hard to wait, but it'll be there. .........maybe you'll get it for your birthday.

Can I ask what the store was that had the shadow box? The first store you went in to?
I never heard of pin trading before but it sounds expensive. Also my wife and I have the same (rare) pin. We got it for taking a tour at DL in August. I would trade but I don’t know what to trade for.
We always bring a few Hates pins with us to Disneyland just incase we see you just so we can gift them to you!
Yes. Please keep doing these vidoes
But what if I wanted the Horizons pin? It's one of my favorite extinct attractions.
Please Chris or anyone correct me if I am wrong but I thought the ones with Mickey on them that you said don’t trade for were cast member pins and they only way to get them was to trade for them?
Haha I call World of Disney World of Color all the time.
Do they have these shadow boxes at Disney World, too?
I just want to start collecting pins. Is there another way than a lanyard? I don't like things around my neck. I have a phobia that it's going to choke me and I start to not breathe as well.
You’re an awesome 😎 TH-cam channel.
ask: What is the rarest pin and do you have one???
Love Disney pins!!!
Buy it when you see it.
Can i ask where this disney park is located? Is this disneyland Paris or is it in America? 😊
