    Awesome channel!! Coach, do you use the same type of periodization between your oly lifters and football players or wrestlers for example? (To gradually increase the clean/snatch/squat/etc every month) If not, how do you aproach that? In other words, how do you do with your athletes that are not oly lifters to increase their lifts?

    Hey coach,
    because of the high technicality demand of the oly lifts, especially for someone who self coaches, do you think that focusing on mastering all oly fits only from a high hang is still beneficial for combat athletes?
    Or do you think that leaves a lot of potential on the table?
    Appreciate you work, it's very helpful !!!

    Your content is top notch, definitely comparable to top channels. Your stuff reminds me of Athlean-X but with more of a focus on athleticism rather than bodybuilding. Please don't stop making videos.

    • @schmidt2538
      @schmidt2538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about that, athleanx being top notch is kinda exaggerating don't you think?
      I mean, besides the advice on face-pulls, not doing wrestle bridges and BTN presses, there's not much left...

    • @timinator1178
      @timinator1178 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schmidt2538 Athlean X has a tremendous amount of technique videos and explains most of his reasons behind his recommendations with actual science. Sure, his fake weight scandal and all that kind of ruined the channel for some people. I never watched the guy because he was an insane athlete, but because he was a good coach who gave explanations that made sense and lined up with science.
      He also explains well how body fat percentages work (look in the mirror), how losing weight works (calorie deficit), how to do spot reduction (you don't), how to address muscle imbalance (train unilaterally), how to break plateaus (switch it up), overcome specific area or joint pains (specific exercises and stretches), why V-shred sucks (deceptive advertising and everything else)...
      Unless you were just trolling, Athlean X has a pretty good amount of solid content. Not every video is gold, but there's enough gold to call it a pretty top notch channel. Production quality is also good. Garage Strength has production quality that I think is at least on par with Athlean-X, and the advice he gives is arguably better. The only real advantages Athlean-X has are more subscribers and greater quantity of content.
      We could sit here and argue all day about which fitness channel is the best and what constitutes top notch (Garage Strength is unarguably top notch), but the truth is they all have aspects they excel at more than others. No one aspect is necessarily better than another, and everyone prefers certain styles to others.

    • @schmidt2538
      @schmidt2538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timinator1178 I see, you got some good points.
      But I'm talking more about the quality to video ratio.
      Sure, there are good videos (as you pointed out), but I'd say his video average is... meh, not that high quality in my opinion.
      For example,
      Natural hypertrophy, christian Thibaudeau, barbell medicine, powertraining, enkiri elite fitness, alex bromley, squat university, alphadestiny, the Bioneer, among others...
      are far superior on quality.
      And for someone who advertises his channel as a good source on becoming a good athlete ("train like an athlete"), his advice is pretty mediocre, and doesn't go beyond the basics.
      Don't know why you'd think I'm a troll tho.
      I think his channel is okay in covering some basic stuff, debunking some myths, etc.
      But even at that, there are better channels that cover the basics, equipping the viewer with much more knowledge than that of athleanx's.
      And for someone who already understands the basics of the basics, I'd say, his channel is not worth watching.
      And no hate towards athleanx, some years ago I was an avid viewer of his, but as time went by I realized that you do not evolve with athleanx. He may help you climb the first steps, but that's it. After that, no amount of hours spent watching him will be beneficial in climbing higher.
      And that's the main problem I have with athleanx, his channel does not make you grow further. It keeps you at that level indefinitely, and only if you step away from him will you improve.
      So yeah, I don't think athleanx even compares to garage strength. The effort, the knowledge needed, and the video quality is ridiculously higher with garage strength.

      @@schmidt2538 I agree in that his content is more basic than many other channels. But that’s where he shines. When I was starting out, virtually anything I was interested in learning, he had something to say. You’re right, I don’t really watch him anymore because advanced topics and techniques are not things of he has much content. But I will recommend his material to virtually any beginner, because his content is great. I only watch his content now if I’m trying to remember some niche exercise or movement he talked about once, or to keep up with how Jesse is doing (that kid is hilarious). Basic does not preclude you from being great. It just means that’s the type of content you produce. His motto “train like an athlete” is also somewhat misleading considering his content is almost better geared for beginning bodybuilding, I agree.
      And I had thought you were a troll because you kind of mentioned the things he’s basically memed for, e.g. face pulls.
      But yes, I’ll opt for Garage Strength videos over AthleanX 9/10 times, as I’m no longer able to learn much from what the latter produces, but the former has so much to teach me.

    Your athlete's shoulders are coming behind the bar way to early, and those straight feet at the start position are not natural.
