This is literally the best video on drawing I have ever seen. Love how you simplified your hack of get the cheapest paper. I always draw on fancy Fabriano paper and always feel like I'm wasting it. Never occurred to me to get the cheap stuff and draw countless pages, also I only draw tops 1 page a day if I'm lucky. 40 sounds insane to me, no wonder you got better faster.
a lot of times i feel so much anxiety, im so scared of drawing and im so scared about my art gonna look like sh!t. all i want to do is just makin lil sketchs like u
Just take it easy, try to draw things you like, and just do it more often, all worrying does is make you worry more, whenever you worry just go do a little sketch, I understand schools difficult but just plan out your learning and time and things will get easier when you work them 🙏
No such thing as “I dont wanna make bad drawings and just be good”. You get good with practice. You have 10,000 bad drawings in you and once you get them out, THEN You’re gonna be on your way to being a good artist. If you’re not willing to work off those 10 thousand drawings then you should just quit.
@@highwmyloveryou also need to remember that comparison is the thief of joy. You keep comparing your own art to professional artists and published commercial works then you’ll never get anywhere. If your drawing is conveying its message correctly and clearly then it’s doing its job. The rest is just the aesthetics of what you think something “should” look like (which is another horrendous term that you should eliminate from your vocabulary when it comes to art). Art is what you make it. Therefore whatever you put on that paper is what you are going to get. It’s up to you to improve on areas that are lacking but not necessarily following someone else’s standards in terms of how their work looks. It’s how we get the different styles and kinds of art that we have now. Perfect whatever it is that you are putting on your page and don’t try making it look like some other artists’ work.
This feels enlightening. I want to learn how to draw figures and portraits, but repeatedly burn myself out by practicing 1 kick, 1000 times. Since I’ve been burned out for the last month, I’m gonna pick it back up with this mentality and newfound excitement. I appreciate your insight and I like your accent lol. Can you do some beginner level portrait videos? Thx bruv
thanks for the kind words, portraits are not my strength but i'll see if i can make a video with what i know, but the method i show here most definitely works for portraits as well
Probably the one of the best art tips out there. So many people will let their need to only have good drawings in a sketchbook get in the way. For drawing on the left/backside flip the notebook upside down so the binding is to the left of your hand (if you are right handed). Or just rip the page out.
This type of practice comes very natural to you because you are already very good at drawing, I think this exercise is great for intermediate and advanced artists that want to polish their skills but not for beginners who want to learn. Not hating, just giving a beginner's perspective.
@Control-Max I used to do this as a beginner too, and I wish I would have done it more, as a beginner though it would look bad, I just do it well now cuz I have more experience, my point is I got out of the beginner stage doing this
I think Pexels and unsplashed are loyalty free ? I got a paper republic with some art notebooks and Im afraid to uses them because they are so amazing. This is a great idea!
it depends, it usually just pops up on my home feed, but usually it's related to movies or action stuff, martial arts, gunslinger stuff, or just typing "interesting poses"
I have found that the best way to see progress is to not look for it. I always thought that I was not making any, but looking at what I have accomplished in a year is crazy. The progress will be there in time.
do as many as you can whenever you can for whatever area needs practice, you'll see progress after a few days, things get smoother, and you then have to apply it to real work
could be understood that way, i honestly forgot what i said, but i think i said something along the lines of the figure isn't just one kick there's a lot so in this case you have to see those thousands of kicks at least once and at the end of the day it improves your idea of the figure in totality or something like that
I think drawing people is the best way to improve since the human body is very difficult to draw, and it's the main subject in most art, you'll build up the main fundamentals from learning to draw it, and thank you
Subject notebooks go on sale more frequently(around this time in the US, back-to-school sales start). Paper is a seasonal product so it's really going to come down to when and where you are. Copy paper, index cards, and notepads are all decent formats for cheap sketch papers. I like the notebooks myself(not the video author) since they come pre-bound, are pretty good for tracing over your previous work, and they give you a setup for grids. They are just one of several options.
It is but it's way too big and not tied together like a spiral notebook, also I'm not sure if I can use ink on it without it tearing apart, practicing with brush and ink works in these notebooks sometimes you just gotta take it easy and not use too much water and ink
yeah you're right, but the problem with printer paper is it doesn't come in a notebook form and it's not as cheap, also it's not as portable, printer paper is great for larger studies though.
Watched this at 3am, motivated me to work on sketching first thing this morning
Let's go! Hope you have fun!

How do you make it look so easy? I will try to replicate exactly what you did and see what my results are, but seriously, you are good.
thanks, it's the practice
Great stuff, I like listening to you describe what you are drawing ❤ it reminds me of Bob Ross, very soothing ☺️
haha, Bob ross's awesome, glad you like the vids!

good tip, and yeah perfection stagnates our progress sometimes
I have 2 sketchbooks for this so it doesn't bother me I really recommend this if you feel insecure about it
Hahaha I’ve drawn the same thing on Pinterest with the lady with the gun behind her back ahah I was using it for gesture practice as well that’s crazy
Trillion times better then me can’t wait till my strokes look that smooth and effortless
keep at it, you'll get with practice!

you have any advices for finding reference for drawing?
movies, pinterest, comics, and documentaries
I think Pexels and unsplashed are loyalty free ? I got a paper republic with some art notebooks and Im afraid to uses them because they are so amazing. This is a great idea!
ah thanks for those two websites, i'll use images if i have to from there for possible future videos
What search terms on Pinterest do you use to find interesting poses?
it depends, it usually just pops up on my home feed, but usually it's related to movies or action stuff, martial arts, gunslinger stuff, or just typing "interesting poses"
How many pages should someone do a day and how long until you see significant progress?
I'm a decent artist btw.
you dont really need to set time you just do it until you dont want to or if your confident in your ability to follow flow when drawing figures

What kind of pencil are you using? Just curious. I have some really good ones, but never saw one like yours. And thanks! I can see this helping me!
i'm using a Ticonderoga pencil it's a regular #2 pencil, but i put it in a pencil holder because it's been shortened too much by the sharpener
I think what you meant was, The figure is our ONE kick and we are going to practice 10,000 times. Did I understand correctly?

I have a question sir, do you have art online and if so where can I find it?
@@Duke-j8e my Instagram is h.a._.draws a lot of my art is on there
Hi do you think drawing people alone is the best way of improving overall? Also i love your drawing at the start man, keep it up honestly🙌🏾❤️

@@HA-Draws you are absolutely right man, im noticing immense results already😭appreciate this video soo much honestly.
what lead grade are you using in this video
4b, but it doesn't matter too much, the softness is good for flow, but you can do the same with a 2b
He defs dont like left....he said right soo manyyyyy timess XD...still a good vid tho
Right 👍

If I'm not mistaken, isn't newsprint paper cheaper.

How many years you practice in drawing ?
i started taking it seriously about 10 years ago
man no one will copyright your channel for using references for non-profitable purposes
you never know, gotta play it safe
Notebook paper is worse than printer paper. It's better to use printer paper.

darn sorry, i tried to speak as loud as i can 😢
Turn up your volume
Convert what u see into shapes instead of tracing the lines u see very bad practice
