Adam Rank had the greatest quote… “The Bears are approaching this coaching search the same way my Aunt approached her Facebook account at first, sending friend requests to everyone she has ever met
Geez oh Pete!! That’s working it. I believe that the Bears should interview as many as possible 10-15-20 at least. Interested to see as to how many they do.
In the 125 year history of the NFL only one head coach has ever won a title with two different teams & that was 57 years ago. Now when you add in Carrol’s age I’d have to say no to coming. However if he wants a consulting role then I’m all for it.
Sorry, just because a coach has not win a SB with multiple teams is no reason to not hire him. The fact that he's been to the Super Bowl Twice and wins the National Title should be enough for consideration.
@@Roger-hs1dl actually yes it does because it means the odds of it actually happening are next to nothing. This isn’t only in the NFL because in the NBA it’s only happened three times and in MLB its only happen 4 times, twice in modern (post WWII) MLB. In college football it’s only happened once and it’s never happened in college basketball. Coaches/managers just don’t win again with second teams and that’s just a fact that has been shown in over 160 years of pro and college sports in America.
Don't scoff at Pete Carroll at 73 yrs young. He brings a fire and discipline very much needed to the Bears and could be a positive to overwhelm the idiocy of the ownership and meddling of Warren where it doesn't belong. He could give us two years of stability and culture we desperately need along with a crackerjack staff to kick start this organization .
In the 125 year history of the NFL only one head coach has won a title with two different teams & that was 57 years ago. You see, you never actually get the coach you think you’re getting when you hire a coach that has already won a title. Also it’s no just football. It’s only happened three times and in MLB its only happened 4 times, twice in the modern era. Carroll would be a good choice for an adviser type role but not a coach.
His last 3 years in Seattle were average at best. His best years are behind him. Not the right way to build for the future and set Caleb up with the best situation.
@ thing about that; would 10 wins on average be a step up for us? Yes! Build a damn program first versus this song & whistle this ownership has foisted upon us
@ it’s the vision & program, the actual coaches he hires will enact that plan; as CEO he brings the vision, the fire of direction. We’ve missed that too long by chasing the newest craze. FUNDAMENTALS; get them right then attack
At this time Swifty, do you think all these interviews are part hiring compliance rules and gathering of ideas from these guys? I can't imagine that they don't already have a small group of guys in mind.
@abelincoln6785 yes. I believe interviews are for information gathering but also, you just never know about a guy until you get him in the room. So it doesn't hurt to cast a wide net initially, I just need to see the 2nd round be narrowed down much more
Mccarthy needs to be scratched off that list. There are several in the list that I think should have been eliminated since they had a month to look into what HC they wanted. Bear Down
A) Mike McCarthy can be taken off the list because Dallas denied the request and B) other than Pete Carroll and Mike Vrabel, everybody is under contract with an NFL team and cannot be interviewed until their seasons are over. A lot can start now because some of those people that were candidates their teams didn’t make the playoffs.
Media pushing NFL teams to give David Shaw NFL head coaching gig, he didn't build Stanford program, just kept it afloat for couple years, then wheels fell off. Surprised Bobby Slowik isn't on the list. I pray we don't get Brian Flores, but for the last week, I have had the feeling he will be our next head coach. Vrabel is going to either Patriots or Raiders.
Here are the Patriots knowin they want Vrabel...then u have Bears casting a wiiiiide net lol..issue with that is the top coaches will get hired fast ! Meaning, the Bears best target the coach they want !
Making such a long list of head coach candidates may look impressive but it also shows the Bears aren’t sure of what they want. If they were more focused on what they really need they could reduce the list and get serious about making the right choice.
I guess it's my low risk conservative nature, cause I'm hoping for an experienced coach with lots of success. Mike Vrabel, McCarthy, Pete Carol, etc. Look, I hope I'm wrong and that Ben Johnson is a super star coach if the Bears can land him. And if he is, I will admit I was wrong and sit down. Lol. But idk man, I'll be worried if we get him or any other new first time coach. That's just me tho.
If you have 13 candidates, then you as an organisation have no clue who you will be hireing. You should have a cleen cut candidate and go after him. This will end in disaster. We will not get B.Johnson thats a given. 🐻⬇
Or is it smart getting to interview and pick the brains of guys that you will face in the future? I think it is smart because you keep everyone guessing giving you the leverage all the while picking up on how these guys would proceed in another organization.
@abelincoln6785 the times when he was in he almost. Got there tht alot next yr when he get stronger and a lil more technique and experience he gon b a top 15
This is getting flipping stupid. I watched most every game this year so maybe the Bears would like to interview me! A real team wouldn’t need to interview dozens of candidates. Looks as bad as the teams playing ability. C’mon Bears interview Jeff Fisher!!!
Yeah I agree there's too many here. Too many smaller DC's some of them are never even heard don't see them able to develop Caleb Williams and will need a hotshot OC. Pete Carroll and Mike Vrabel, are they only DC's I'm interested in. The rest should be all OC's.
Colin Herd said the same thing. I said this right away. They have no idea who they want. They will interview 200 people just to see which one sticks to the wall. Stupid!
@@richmargin6082 I really like Poles. Although he’s made a few mistakes I think he’s done pretty good. Now I think they need to bring in a more experienced GM or need to at least rent one who can tell him what to look for.
I spoke with Virginia - Mikey was against it but I did get you an interview with her. Are you available say Sunday about 9 am to escort her to mass? You will have to go to confession first of course. And bring an envelope full of cash.
Ian Cunninham being a GM candidate is a pretty good endorsement of the job Ryan Poles is gone. Just sayin, for the fans who want Poles gone there are teams interested in his right hand man. I think that says something. 🐻⬇️✌️✝️
Way too many candidates. David shaw, Mike kaftka, drew petzing ?? I mean come on. Just wasting time. Getting a little too cute here. They had since Thanksgiving to narrow this down.
@@abelincoln6785 they don't need to interview 14 people for that. Complete waste of time. A list of 8 or 9 at the most would be sufficient. Some of these names come out of nowhere
Really, what a joke. You're telling me that we need to interview 14 coaches. That list is way too large and some of them shouldn't even be on the list, but hey that's the way the Bears do business. Didn't Matt Nagy bring in like 9 kickers to replace the double doinker Cody Parkey.
Thanks for keeping us updated

LMAOOOOO ok thats funnnnnnny
Joe Brady is one of my picks for the final five
Great job Swifty!
Thank you Swifty.
Thomas Brown gets an OC job I'm pretty sure we get a comp pick since he's our Pass game Coordinator
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!! Yes!!! Yes!! Pete Carroll baby!!! A Dynasty Builder to pair with our young GM. A guy who has done it before.

What does age have to do with anything. He's the Best choice.

Teams literally hire consultants to bring in dozens of people to interview. So sorry, but Ben Johnson is not the best option out there.
Brady’s a sleeper. An interesting candidate.

I want a leader of men with vision and plan
Google’s AI suggests Ben Johnson is the best candidate.
Rich Eisen mentioned David Shaw.... Swift, what do you think about him? Could you comment or do a video about him?
I think he's a solid candidate. Honestly hard to know TOO much about him. He hasn't done much since his time coaching at Stanford
@SwiftSportsNetwork ok thanks for the reply

Good strategy for Bears ownership, short list 10 candidates because the top 6 will pass for other teams.
Unless Ben Johnson brings the Lions offense with him, not interested.
And the Lions oline

If they kept the list small people would say they're not doing their due diligence.
Part of this is gathering info on your likely competitors. Bring them all in - intelligence work in progress. Look past the obvious.

Hell naw not McCarthy
I think Carroll would pick quality coordinators
You sure - remember we fired the OC who was also his OC.
@ Yes, I remember however under Pete he did well. Under McVay he did well. He also had Dan Quinn. Kris Richard engineered the Legion of Boom as well.
I think if they played booker more he a better
Agree

Pete Carroll is twice as old as Ben Johnson, 4 years older than Tony Dungy
Are you suggesting that Carroll would take advantage of their youth and inexperience? Kidding
We need someone younger. What's Mike Ditka doing?
