One of my favorite games for the Sega Genesis. A tactical, squad-based strategy game with colorful characters and intense gameplay.
This game truly shines when you have two-players or even manage to get four-players together for it as you have more personal control over the two commandos in your team.
Each map is different with the various playthroughs, some having objectives that give you bonus points.
This game is still fun even to this day, having aged very well several years after being produced. -

Me and my father used to rent this from our local video store in the early 90s. We played the hell out of it. Simpler times. I miss him

This was my best friend and I's favorite game growing up. We were probably 7 or 8 and logging so many hours on this. It's so good. I wish I could play it.
When I was a kid me and my friends hired this game out every weekend for months on end.
The multiplayer was fun as hell.

Man, I have looked for this game for over 20 years! I couldn't remember the name of it and it has tortured me for so long wishing I could remember, so I could get a hold of it and play it again. All of a sudden here it is on my feed, while not even thinking about it in a while! I spent hours with buddies in the mid 90's playing this on Sega Channel. One of the best games of that era!
I also forgot the name. Used to play this game with my cousin brothers.

Sega Channel was unbelievably cool when it was around... I remember routinely begging my Mom on the last day of every month to let me stay up until after midnight when it would refresh the games, so I could see what new ones I got for that month. Definitely a simpler time back then. Glad I'm not the only one that remembers the Sega Channel!

@@kentonsmith3481 It was a great era! We appreciated things so much back then. Sega Channel was kind of a head of it's time in away but didn't last long enough. Such a great feeling to hear it load up and anxious to see what new games and demos were available!

I remember a trick i used to ensure victory. Get the enemy in the water and pause the game. They will all end up drowning.

Brilliant! The first RTS that I ever played.
I find myself remembering all of the strategies my little brother and I used to both fight each other and to team up against the AI. If this guy used some of those he would be unstoppable. I moved on to Command and Conquer on PC after this. General Chaos was a great game back in the day!
This was my absolute favorite game when I was in 6th grade. I even got a copy recently to play it again.
Remember emulation is awesome too!
I remember playing this game when I was a kid. First time I rented this from Hollywood Video, I had no idea what I was doing. Now, still hard, but yeah, I agree that it was TF2 before there was a TF2. Wouldn't call this a great game, but still was pretty fun to play.

For a good chunk of my life, I knew I played this as a rental, but I didn't know what the hell this was called until like the late 2000's or early 2010's looking through videos like these or emulation lists.
And then all my memories of this game came rushing back like a tidal wave. The sounds, the music, the stock voice samples, all of it.

I am watching my husband play the latest Battlefield and remembering fondly my days of General Chaos.

Loved during childhood, such a game.
Having never played this game, when I first saw screenshots of this game it reminded me of arcade games from the early Bally/Williams era (Rampage, Arch Rivals, Xenophobe), later finding out that the same art designer (Brian Colin) designed the art for this as well. Now I MUST try this out.

I swear as a kid I remember seeing certain expressions or the music changing once on the main menu, could never recreate that thing happening.
I still have my copy I bought as a teenager when it first came out! Such a great game!!! Love it and still playing it! I remember my first copy getting stolen and I got General Chaos withdrawls. Ran out the same day and got another new copy! So glad I still have all of my old consoles and games! Even still have my Atari! 👍👍👍

Hired this game out a lot when I was a kid. Every Friday night we turned the big family TV on to WWF wrestling and we would bring my tv into the lounge and play Genesis.
General Chaos was a game we must of hired at least 20 times. Was way ahead of its time.

There's a brilliant diamond in the rough for an indie studio to make a slower, more methodical, but still arcade-y and action based game inspired by General Chaos. The squad mechanics are fun but there's nothing better in this game than playing co-op Commando mode with a friend in the campaign. Me and my buddy down the street dropped hours and hours into this game over a few summers back in the day.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! For years I had a picture in my mind of the game, but couldn't remember the name. And noone knew what I was talking about. I would sometimes try to find it in this past decade. Today I finally found it after typing so many random descriptions. I remeber renting this game for the weekend with my friend and staying at his house ordering pizza and eating the value brand gigantic bag of cheesies and playing untill we couldnt keep out eyes open.
When I had this as a kid, I had no idea how to play it but I just loved the action and the attempt to win. I only remember winning once. The bright colours, sounds and the challenge is what kept my attention.
I bought this game not too long ago, I don't own a Sega Mega Drive but if someone's nice enough to let me borrow one for while, I can play it.

This deserves a port to PC with online support. Each player could control one character, and melee wouldn't need to pause the game.
The rudimentary war concept makes it so much fun to blast your opponents away.

oh man..this game..i played it once and it hooked me so hard i had to have it!!!
but in a time without ebay, internet..it really was hard..cause this game wasnt like a big seller and you wouldnt find it in the typical stores..
i remember how i as a 12yrs old was riding my bicycle through whole city from one games-shop to another..in the end i found one lil shop but he nearly wanted full price for that game..i couldnt afford..i remember i had to trade three other games for that one..

My compliments to you for being able to tough through that awful control scheme. I always did it in 2p mode due to the much easier time moving soldiers directly.
