There is something so comforting in your videos, with the music ambiance and your narration. It makes it realy interesting, allowing us to understand your process and ideas better ! You manage to show that the struggle of the process is always worth it ! Thank you for bringing motivation and inspiration to draw/paint/create ! Wish you and your family the best !
Yo! Congrats dad! That's awesome news man. Enjoy the beautiful insanity :) The painting is fantastic as always - these are so enjoyable as inspiration and just as a vibe out experience.
Wow! Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 is it your first kid? Welcome to fatherhood. Best hood there is. And another beutiful painting and talk. Love your videos mate!
@ Cool. That is a huge event. I got 2 boys and they are 14 and 16 years old. Becoming a dad is just the best thing in the world :-D And you are most welcome, your videos inspire me.
Your videos are like when I listen a book. I love it, thank you again for this fantastic piece. I see myself in your words and I'm glad to hear them. And congrats to being a dad!
Man, I get those bouts of physical and mental fatigue, no creativity or drive, and I just absorb art content in that state. Yours is always a video that helps me shake that off, and this one dropped at the right time. From concept to finished work, every part of your process is interesting. Appreciate you, and congrats!
Congratulations! I found your channel a few months ago, my wife and I actually went to Scotland earlier this year which was incredible and we also have a new little one. Thanks for taking so much time to walk us through your process, I'm not really an artist but I love seeing what others can do.
I love this design, this small place...I want a soup, it's so cold outside. Congratulations to you both for this new life! I love the fact that in your videos we really see and hear all your process.
Those cliffs in the foreground, the stonework on the tavern... man, breathtaking work as always. Nothing makes me pick up my iPad faster than your videos Congrats on the baby!
I've started watching your videos with your house on the cliff procreate video - the one with the towers in the background and elden ring inspo (love this game and its dark but majestic atmosphere too). Your videos are motivating, and comforting to watch, like listening to a story near to a fireplace. I've become more confident about pursuing a career in environment art and doing something I love much because of your process videos discussing your insights about doing something for ourselves and the realization in the long run. When I feel a little lost I come your videos to remember my own goals. Thank you so much Grady! and Congrats to you and your family on this new stage of being a dad!
Thanks for this comment. It really made me feel good. I love to hear the comparison to hearing a story by a fire, it's exactly the headspace I try to get myself too all the time haha. Social media, and the industry as a whole can often muddy up what's really important so I'm really glad my videos help to ground you in some small way :) Wish you the best
Congratulations on your parenthood! I am glad to have found your channel again. Literally. I watched your videos like 4-5 months ago and then you didn't pop in my feed again and today I wanted to see your stuff again but didn't remember your name -_- (forgive me sir) Then I searched 'dark fantasy sketch' I think and I saw your channel quickly. I am here to bask again in the process, and the vibes, and the humility and the struggle. And the joy :)
I have been watching your videos for a few weeks, and I am deeply impressed with your articulate way of walking us viewers through your process. I am a landscape designer, have been so for over 60 years, and have always felt that there is a story behind each design I create - a story that I try to imply into my design work. And the story is that of the client: What he/she desires, the ambiance of the space(s) that fulfill those desires. Most of my plan presentations, to date, have been 2-dimensional. Flat graphics on a page are sometimes difficult for clients to understand, and I am of the mind-set that 3 dimensional plan images will help the observer absorb the emotional intent I want to present. Thanks for your personal perspective into the world of "art".
Thanks for sharing :) Finding the best most efficient way to communicate with artwork/design is a major skill which takes years to develop. Every client is different and it often takes time to work out the best way to get through to them and deliver designs which solve their problems. Having a diverse toolkit is really helpful, good to be flexible :)
I wish i had your mind set when it comes to drawing/painting. I tend to hate everything i start and got so many unfinished pieces.. which in turn hot my confidence in my abilities. Ive been drawing for 25 years and work in games industry but constant mental block and lake of confidence is major wall to break through. Keep up the amazing work
Congrats man!! 🎊 ❤ Being a dad is awesome, enjoy..plus you can teach your little one art in a few years..mine all do art and it’s really interesting to see how different and unique it is along with their personalities..welcome back you sir have been missed
Thanks for the kind words :) Really appreciate it. Yea I am certainly very excited to see what she takes an interest in, be it art or otherwise. Very exciting
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting your process videos, its great and super helpful, insightful and entertaining. I just bought one of your prints, keep up the great work!
That's great! Congrats on your first kid! Thank you for the great painting and talk. Your videos have really inspired me to combine references to build the painting to be its best!
Congrats on becoming a dad first of all! Really loved this artwork! Before you started mentioning the shallow rock, that was what I was thinking about, too. It feels so uncomfortably close to the water that it really envokes lots of emotions in you. The house looks like it once was magnificient but not it crooked, alone in this huge landscape and almost swallowed by the water. It's at its end of life and the decay (of the world?) is creeping in. Not sure what your IP is you put this art in as this is the first time I discovered you but it seems fantastic!
I can't believe I missed this upload! First off, congrats on Dadhood! That's huge! Second, I just have to marvel at how deftly you add texture to things that reads SO clearly (like the roof shingles and the shadows under the lintel, etc). Even just the near rocks and cliffside. Those are details I feel like many artists would use photobashing for, but you have such a wealth of sketching experience that you can really mimic those rhythms so deftly- it's inspiring! (And to be clear, that's not to disparage photobashing as a tool, but having the skill to sketch those same textures gives you so much more versatility and your paintings so much more personality, I feel)
Congratulations to the mini human. Good luck! Also, every time you post a new video it looks like you're at a new location. Also also, beautiful painting. I love the mood and the texture work.
Thanks! And yea haha we moved this year and I did a video but then did some re-arranging so the desk and camera have moved. 3 different backgrounds in my last 3 videos haha. I think this one will stick though!
Thanks for posting this. As always, really inspiring. Have been suffering a block for awhile and listening you explain how you can use reference is the first time I’ve heard it like that and has really motivated me again
Congratulations Grady. Wonderful news. Always love seeing a fresh piece, don’t let the channel get in the way of that which matters most 😉 best from Scotland brother 🏴
congratulations on your new baby!! I find your videos really inspiring. I'm going to try sketching the reference first and then designing my own variant like you did in this one, it sounds like a good way to gain some design skills without staring in terror at a blank page lol
Thank you very much for making these videos, I really like landscaping and I want to improve that, watching your video I learn a lot and I hope to be able to draw like you one day. Congratulations on your daughter :)
Maaan since my boy got born i've been working on my phone in infinite painter and haven't touched my tablet . He's a year and 2 m old now but i got so used to the process i might keep it. Also started watching your videos for how calming the music and the voice is. I need calm in my life:))
@@gradyfrederickart What i like is that after my boy finally falls asleep i can just sketch and paint a bit before succumbing myself. Also during breaks at work i can continue the piece as the time i get is limited and it takes me long to finish something so i might as well profit whenever i can.
Really good video, the painting is nice and it's always inspiring to listen to you. You seems to be a chill guy and I'm always happy when I see you posted a new video cause thats mean a relaxing ~20min in my life If one day you come to paris I'll pay you a beer !
