Wouldn’t you actually consider Guerlain to be a niche brand? They focus on some cosmetics, but it started out as a perfume house and has kept it going for close to 200 years!
Guerlain is such a special case b/c like you said they are one of the oldest houses still in existence and until recently they’ve been exclusively focused on perfumery. However they are also now owned by LVMH so I understand why they’re considered a designer. I think technically the brand is niche but the company is a designer.
BTW there are forums filled with this exact debate
Imo its a bit of a gray area because of the price and as the previous commenter said they're owned by lvmh, most niche brands aren’t owned by big conglomerates.
@@Artificial777 Quite a few of the popular niche brands are though. Estee Lauder owns By Killian, Le Labo and Frederic Malle.
LVMH owns Maison Francis Kurkdijan and Acqua di Parma and I'm pretty sure Loreal also ones at least one or a couple.

Most of these ‘Niche’ houses are usually considered Niche because they just make ‘fragrances’ however some fail to remember that most ‘Niche’ brands are making other scented products candles, lipsticks and other cosmetics.
The way I like to think about a ‘Niche’ fragrance brand is they stay away from clothes, footwear & accessories (such as belts/handbags etc) and focuses on scent related products only.
I try as much as possible to collect fragrances based on the predominant note used. So far I have a citrus one, a leather, oud-rose combo, fougere-like, some vetivers, a boozy one, blue-aquatic, chestnutty-woody and rhubarb to name a few.
Mr. Omar the goat, please do a video on the best/your favorite booze-heavy winter fragrances!
Nice suggestions... it's tricky suggestion nichè to those who have predominantly designer collections... I alway suggest sampling instead of blind buying nichè bottles... especially with brands like Amouage which has many challenging fragrances... I'm in a place now with my collection where I'm concentrating on nichè samples and trying to avoid blind buying

For the guy who was suggested Carved Oud by Thameen. Of course you should try it, but I think based on your collection you can try Qaa'ed by Lattafa. It's very inexpensive and good in similar direction.

Hey Brotha Omar I REALLY like your channel and how you go out of your way to give us different content, I would like to make a suggestion that you expand on what you are already doing , allow me to elaborate, your name is “school of scents” right? I would like you to take more of a effort to teach and explain the history of scents and how brands and fragrances have evolved over the years, like a history lesson on the House of Guerlain or the history and evolution of Oud, you have already done something like it when you did the thing on Coco Chanel and it was BRILLIANT and your best work, I feel like you should really be leaning into that aspect because no one is really doing content like that and your personality is suited for something like that.
Anyways cheers from San Diego California and as always keep up the fantastic work and remember as you grow and evolve so do we, so the more work you put in the more the fragrance community benefits!
That's a really good idea! I also support this notion of history leaning videos. I'd also like to add a request for "where are they now?" For fragrance houses and fragrances that were once popular, the rise and fall type videos.

I built my collection after trying some Alexandria fragrances and watching these videos!! I feel like I'm almost there now!! Mancera Red tobacco is the most impressive so far. Just bought Tom Ford Extreme as a blind buy and haven't received it yet; can't wait.
I have Hafez but Red Tobacco blows it be away..
When I first got TF Noir Extreme I thought it smelled a little old fashioned, but the more I wore it the more I fell in love. Now I’m obsessed. Also, when I first got it the performance was laking, but a month later it was lasting all night and getting insane reactions. Enjoy!

Which TF Noir Extreme Is best In your opinion? Original It the newer parfum?
Bench urban original 2 and bench Sound are both melon DNA, the urban original is more floral gourmand and Sound has a woody vibe which brings the melon into a familiar gym-fresh citrus DNA but not citrus. It's only reminiscent. And my usual recommendations; mauboussin Homme edp and sunnamusk evanto oil.
Imo if zoologist panda was actually a discontinued Fahrenheit flanker it would be worth thousands. But because.its lost in a huge collection of almost unwearable fragrances it goes unnoticed

Struggling to decide between
Lacoste blanc L1212 edt or John varvatos artisan pure. Need a new summer sent.
I think Varvatos is a better scent overall, but very short lasting. Lacoste on the other hand is liked by the girls very much. And they say that Artisan Pure smells like soap. So 1212 would be is a much better choice in my opinion.

I have a question I just can't seem to find an answer for, there are tons of different fragrances out there, but when I see all these videos I keep seeing common fragrances popping up.
But I like being unique, and I don't want to smell like everyone else, how do I find a great smelling fragrance that isn't going to be common?

Over the past 5-6 years I started buying fragrances, and last week I was talking to my brother and when I counted i am close to hitting 100 bottles. I guess I am a collector lol
some of my fav are Prada ocean, Sauvage edp, The One by D&G(not for everyone), Bleu de Chanel, Creed Avantis(for special occasions), Aqua de Gio, oh man the list goes on but this will be the top order.

I saw a several videos on how good Nautica voyage is .. I thought lets sepnd 20$ what the worse could happen.. boy i was wrong.. it smelled like hotel soap. tried it once and straight in the garbage. if you really want a fresh sent stick pay the extra money and try Prada ocean.
