      Hi! I wish I knew this when I created the video, but you can actually combine all the images into a PDF using just the iPad itself and not procreate! So just have each of your pages saved out as a PDF, then:
      - Open the Files app.
      - Go to the place where your PDFs are saved.
      - Select the three dots at the top right.
      - Press Select.
      - Choose all the pages in your book.
      - Press the three dots at the bottom right.
      - Tap Create PDF.
      I hope that helps!

    Love the video series! But how did you get your jpegs to be in the file folder. I need to look in that. It was impressive how you selected all Jpegs to import them to procreate

      Thanks!! If you watch the first two videos in the series, I show you how to lay out each page and then save it as a jpg. Make sure you do save as image, then they all just go into the same folder on your iPad.

    Heather, you have provided a great service to all of us children's book authors! I have a problem: KDP told me that my interior trim size is not big enough and gave me the dimensions. Of course, I thought it was correct. How do I change ALL 36 canvases to the proper trim size?

      Oh I got your email and replied there, but the way I would personally do it is with Photoshop Actions (run a resize action on all images). I never resize anything in Procreate because (unfortunately) Procreate is horrible at resizing, things always end up blurry. Photoshop is the way to go for resizing.

      Hi! PNG file format wasn't really made for print. You wouldn't be able to save as CMYK. If you want to go with RGB and see if it prints ok you could try it, and then if you have issues convert it.

    Thanks a lot. I did exactly as you described. 🥰 the only problem is when I try to upload my manuscript, it fails after 10-15 minutes.
    I tried many times and it still doesn’t work.
    Also I have noticed, when I transform the images from procreate and save it as pdf ( as you have described) and again when I reopen the pdf in procreate, the dimension (WxH) changed a little bit. Like instead of being 11x8,5 it became 10,5 x 8. Could it be the problem reason? And why does it happen?
    Thank you very much

      Hi! I believe Procreate actually has some issues importing PDFs.
      If yours is failing when uploading, I would usually suggest making sure your PDF is flattened but I think if you're following the video then it should already be flattened.

      Usually it actually means that you have your text too close to the edges or you have a white strip near the edge of the page.
      Look at the last sentence of the error message - it's easy to miss in that big block of text. It will tell you which pages have the error (which pages have text too close to margin etc)

    Hello Heather! I tried uploading my book to Amazon KDP(153 pages) and it won't pass. Amazon sends me an email saying I have to change the margins of the book and make the size 6.125" x 9.25 instead of 9" x 6". Do you have any advice?

    • @HeatherCashArt
      @HeatherCashArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Is the printed size of your book 9x6? Is it a picture book with images that go all the way to the edge? If so, then you'd need to add that extra width and height to account for bleed.

  • @italianartist

    Hi I'm curious why I have to make jpegs and then convert them to pdf..can't I just create my book on procreate within a margin guideline and then save it as a pdf and upload it to kdp? Thanx in advance

    • @HeatherCashArt
      @HeatherCashArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! You can do that but the reason I convert to JPG first is just to flatten the artwork so that it's easy to combine all of them into a single PDF later. If you're creating your combined PDF in Procreate (where each page of the book is a page in the PDF), then each layer in Procreate will be a single page of the book. So you'd have to end up flattening your layers. Does that make sense?

    • @italianartist

      @@HeatherCashArt uh lol maybe I'm new at this so I'll try to figure it out..idk what flattening means haha

    At 300 dpi, Procreate says that allows me 26 layers but my book is 38 pages, so will all 38 pages still load in as 38 layers? Will the method in your video still work? If not, what’s the alternative? Can a person upload two separate pdf files to KDP?

    • @HeatherCashArt
      @HeatherCashArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Unfortunately this method won't work then - I would recommend downloading Adobe Acrobat. If you don't have the Adobe products, it does cost something, but you could just use the trial version or just pay for one month. It's really easy to use, you just create a PDF from multiple files and just select the files. I don't think I made a video for that one yet but if you email me I can make you a quick video. Another alternative is Photoshop, which I did make a video for. Hope that helps!
