If you watched my Lexus GS-F review, you might think that I have something against Japanese cars. But that's not the case. My first and favorite car was a 1995 Nissan Maxima and coming in close second is my Infiniti QX80. So deep down, I wanted to love this car.

I had a Q50 Red Sport coming from a G37x- which I love (the G, not the Q). I so badly wanted to love the car but ended up trading it after only 6 months as I found myself liking it less, not more. Went with a '18 M3 with Comp and Performance packages and love it more the more I drive it- the way it should be. Both the Q50 and Q60 are just a few substitutions away from being real competitors!

As a 2018 Q60 owner, I have to agree. But what needs to be mentioned is that if you enjoy car for what it is? It’s great. I don’t race it or track it. I enjoy the ride, and attention the car gets. And every now and then I like to get on the gas and it goes.
Gotta say man, this is probably one of your best looking episodes. Everything from the cinematography to the storytelling to the locations. It's all beautiful. Good work. 👍
Unlike these limited, short drive impressions, I've owned a '17 Q60 Red Sport AWD since December 2016, with an MSRP of $56k USD - try to find an Audi S5, MB C63, etc. at that price point! The V37/CV37 platform (2016+ Q50/2017+ Q60) has solid aftermarket support, which I have found makes this platform an absolute blast to drive, yet a sleeper all-in-one. On the CV37 platform (coupe), Infiniti used a brand new body and engine (VR30) in 2017 (The VR30 engine won Ward's Engine of the Year when it debuted). Much of the associated running gear was sourced from the existing parts bins, but for the price-point, in baseline form it functions well for most consumers. For owners like me who want to upgrade, the 300-hp/400-hp VR30 responds well to tuning & exhaust. My Q60 puts down just under 450WHP and just over 500 WTQ on a Dynojet AWD dyno, with pump gas (no E85 or methanol adders). As for the stock Akebono brakes, a set of Motorsport pads and Z1 Motorsport 2-piece rotors helps address braking performance. In my case, I upgraded to StopTech 6-pot FRTs and 4-pot RRs w/2-piece rotors. In terms of comfort, Infiniti hit it out of the park with the Red Sport interior. I completed a 2800 mile road trip in my Q60 last year, and the seating position and support allowed long stints of seat time w/o pain or soreness. The weakness in the platform is the selection by Infiniti of the Dunlop Sport Maxx CTT RFTs on the AWD versions - absolutely kills handling, imparts a harsh ride (due to RFT sidewalls), and is the worst tire for driving in wet conditions. One of the 1st mods that should be done. In fact, if I had known then what I know now, I would have had the dealer change these out at delivery!
Well said, I feel like this guy was just bashing on Infiniti the whole time. Like you I also have an '18 Infiniti Q60, and I feel like the platform is great. All you've gotta do is throw on a tune and your problems are fix, especially with the transmission. It is agreeable that this infinity is not as strong, heavy and stable as others in the class, but if you like Japanese cars and you need power, luxury, convenience, look and value, you should seriously consider the Q60.
Based on this review, I'm simply going to say you are not the target audience for this thing, whatsoever. I've had sport/performance/muscle cars all my life, but these days at 46 years old, I prefer a softer ride. This thing is perfect for that, and for the money, it is hard to beat. Not to mention, it looks fantastic. I recently picked up a mint condition dealer demo 2019 Q60 AWD Luxe with 5800 miles on it for $37k. After adding a JB4 to up the boost which took 5 minutes to install, the car pretty well hauls ass by street standards. The transmission tuning sucks. Interior is comfortable and nice enough. The infotainment is dated, but to be fair it does everything I want it to do. It handles well enough, but is definitely not a track car. It is really good in the snow. The AWD system also does a great job of putting power down even when WOT in a turn, etc. Good car, I like it so far. I'm glad it is quiet, I was over loud exhaust 20 years ago.

Infiniti went downhill after Johan De’Nyssen. Back in ‘03, Infiniti was king with their G35 sedan/coupe. It put the Germans on their toes, but now Infiniti is at the bottom of the pack 😕 . Infiniti stopped being a sporty meaning luxury brand once the JX35/QX60 came, and the final nail in the coffin is when the QX50 went FWD with the CVT. Yes, the Q60 does sound like utter garbage now. Their VQ series V-6’s had among the best damn V-6 sound, they are only second to the Italian V-6’s.
The best 7mins I ever spent on TH-cam. Wow bro. I’m a Fan and it’s so refreshing to see an honest review with someone knows there stuff and didn’t regurgitate the same exact opinions of every other TH-camr. Great Work!!!

Hope you enjoyed your time there, both near Rawdon and in the city itself. Great review once again only bested by the amazing cinematography.
Thanks Francois! Montreal was wonderful. I might have over-indulged a bit on the poutine but the roads in the north were quite wonderful to drive on. Hope to visit your part of Canada soon!
Q60 is a beautifully designed car. I own a redsport. The biggest thing that holds it back is the transmission. The infotainment is dated as well. It's overpriced brand new but the used market is great for consumers. You are getting a 400hp well built car for 40k or less. It looks better than the Euro counter parts and it has high tuning potential. Instead of being a GT car they should have went more in on the sport aspect. Make it like an Audi A8. Give it better driver traits and offer digital dashes. It's a confused car that should have went more in on sport than it did. That being said I do like the car. You can tune it to be more of a sports car and you can make the transmission feel a little better with those tunes.
I bought this car last week. I love it and I respect your perspective. I'm an everyday driver and coming from a Subaru WRX. To me, it felt like a whole different league of a car. Maybe next time I'll see one of your reviews and go for a german car. This is my first video on your channel
You bought the right car. I drove one today and that's coming from a 2008 G37/370gt guy with a rare 6sp manual (which I've had for 7 years). Yeah they need an exhaust to increase the drama. It's a shame it doesn't come in a manual and it isn't as exciting as my g37 which I have dialed in, but damn they pull and will pull much more with exhaust and tune. They handle very well for a GT car which is what it is, it ISN'T a sports car. What this guy completely misses is when it's YOUR MONEY knowing that the Infiniti will be a far superior ownership experience than a German car goes along way. I have treated my G37 brutally. It's never gone to a dealership, never. I service it myself. Any small issue has been an easy enough fix, including changing my own clutch. Try saying that about an Audi moneypit. Unfortunately, in Australia these are so damn rare, because Infiniti doesn't sell here anymore, I am seriously considering flying to the other end of the country to buy the car in the colour and spec I would like, there's only 3 for sale in the country. I was lucky enough to drive one today.
@@richtez2163 Sorry, I missed this notification. So I have agree with @danielleove. I had the normal WRX with a Stage 2+. The Infiniti is not sporty. No drama. Very much a GT car. I love it. 42k miles now and zero issues. I do my own oil change every 5k miles. Car is still very much new and I'm considering changing out the transmission oil. Overall, love it as a fast and comfortable ride. I enjoy RW drive cars wayy more than AWD but if you have snow they do offer an AWD version.
@@q60bdz no worries thanks for the reply tho. I’m in NYC with the STi. It’s a fun car to drive I have little over 11 k miles now but the traffic in NYC is worse now. So I’m thinking of getting into an automatic and was doing my research on what heads call the baby GTR. I just need something to get around that’s more comfort than the STi but a little kick and look to it.
I certainly agree, I own a 2017 RS and it is more Luxury then Sport, which is why I bought it. It does feel like it should’ve came with a bit more power and an upgraded transmission but for me it was worth it.
Hands down one of your best reviews to date. Brutal, but it's the truth. Me personally, I wish Infiniti didn't kill off the FX line. I'd like to see you do a review on one of those even though they don't make them anymore.
I own a 2018 Q50S and I agree with everything you said in this video. However this car is an amazing bang for your buck in the used car market. They depreciate so much, you could pick one up with low miles for about 30k (or far less than that). Throw on a few bolt ons and tune for another 5k and now you have a 450whp monster. And if you desire so you can continue to upgrade with fueling kits and bigger turbos and take it even further. Now you have an ultimate sleeper capable of 0 - 60 in the 3 secs flat range for well under 45k👍. While yes it's not the most fun car to take turns with or to the track, once you do at least the bolts on and tune, it becomes far more fun to drive. Currently my car does consistent 60 pulls in 3.6 secs.
Good looks outside. Luxury inside. 400 HP under the hood. Japanese reliability. Sounds perfect for the 99.99% of drivers who will never go near a race track. These will be $20k cars soon enough, which is about the right time to scratch the check.
I appreciate your review.... coming from a infiniti enthusiast myself. They are short comings. From a slush box trans to Turbos that dive on power after 5500 rpm. most of its short comings can be over ridden in the aftermarket, better pads, tires, coilover and lsd.
Boost In Motion not a lot of people who buy this car will care about that. You'll spend massively more to an already expensive car. I'd rather take another car that does the job from factory. Since the Germans are cheaper, I'd take that road
Nice video, I'm getting the 2020 model in 3 years with that Android Auto. The g35 has always been my dream car but the q60 is just too sexy to pass up. I don't care if it's the fastest car, seeing the car in person is just a pleasure to see. Looks wise I think it's the best looking coupe, especially for the price.
I’ve never seen cars being reviewed like this and I gotta say I like it a lot. It’s not a long video about some ppl just walking around it for mins and mins, you show beautiful views of the car with cinematic scenes rather than seeing the car reviewer face the entire time while test driving it.., lot information on the car and how it feels and even a full pov straight line floor- nice.
I love the honest review,. Video quality and commentary great as well. In less than 2 years when I finish paying my G37x I’ll still go and buy a low mile used Q60RS for some low 30s or less It’s beautiful and nothing about your review bothers me much... such a beautiful car ❤️ Anyways, I’ve liked this video and subscribed. This was a top-notch review. The content, cinematography (including lighting), narrating, editing, and over all artistic style was fantastic-great job! You just earned a sub.
Sports car or not, there’s still something about it that I find so attractive. Personally, I think this car looks best with black rims, black paint and light chrome accents. I think the name “sport” doesn’t fit it, but it’s good at what it does.
I never saw it as a sports car for the brand. I saw it as a sporty GT. Not meant to be rascious like the GTR. I think it fulfills its mission for what it was designed for. They were looking at an electric performance car as their halo.
Thanks for the interesting and informative review. I bought a 2019 370Z sport coupe with the 6-speed manual transmission recently and love the car. I had considered getting something like a newer version of the G37S, but I wanted a more focused car that would perform better in the areas that mattered the most to me, handling and engine responsiveness. It seems to me that Nissan may be blurring the lines of distinction between different types of cars in trying to build a "one size fits all" and may lose out to the buyers who do have a clear idea of what they want in a car. I think this is a symptom of Nissan's corporate delusional thinking where finance and managerial people are calling the shots on product development and not car people. Car people would have first made the decision as to what they wanted this car to be and would have designed around that priority, a sports/performance car with some degree of refinement and luxury or a luxury car that can get out of its own way.
I was rather disappointed to hear the amount of negative with this car, however almost expected. The q50/q60 had some BIG shoes to fill with the G series. It is nice to hear an honest review about the car tho. Thanks for the vid, got yourself a new sub
I like the car but I love cinematic feel you gave this video. Never seen a car review this entertaining. Thumbs up from me and a subscriber. Good shit bruh.

The feeling when watching this is mind blowing! From the B rolls to him standing in the kitchen with the surface laptop to show the lap times. Stunning cinematic!
This is probably one of the better looking Japanese cars on the road today, but you're absolutely right, it's not worth the money. Total shame too.

If you buy a brand new Infiniti you are gonna go broke lol, either lease a new one or wait a year till they loose value. That’s what I did with my Q50 that I absolutely love

I like this car a lot but agree it is meant to be a GT car but Infiniti markets it like a sports car. Your channel is going to blow up so keep up the great work you are one of the best reviewers on TH-cam!

Man gotta say i agree. The g35/g37 was a better all around car.
My 06 g35x is more raw & thicker gauge metal. My 14 q50s is very nice but metal gauge is thinner you can hear it when you shut the doors!
I have a Infiniti 2005 g35x and I love it! And the body style is more sporty than newer models
Ill never sell my g37
Miss my g37xS sedan. Thing was an animal
Usually Canadian TV/Movies are significantly worse than American ones, but this video blows most US car reviewers out of the water. Great video
I have a Q60S and I love it
The best 7mins I ever spent on TH-cam. Wow bro. I’m a Fan and it’s so refreshing to see an honest review with someone knows there stuff and didn’t regurgitate the same exact opinions of every other TH-camr. Great Work!!!
I love my q60 and would not hesitate to buy one again.
This is hands down the BEST car review I’ve ever watched.
This is one occasion I wish I could hit the Like button more than once. Amazing review Dan and I must say thank you for showcasing my hometown so well even though you were a bit away from Montreal.
How's the car ? I have a 21 STi and I'm looking to get into something else
This is probably the best car review I’ve ever seen
I certainly agree, I own a 2017 RS and it is more Luxury then Sport, which is why I bought it. It does feel like it should’ve came with a bit more power and an upgraded transmission but for me it was worth it.
Hands down one of your best reviews to date. Brutal, but it's the truth. Me personally, I wish Infiniti didn't kill off the FX line. I'd like to see you do a review on one of those even though they don't make them anymore.
I got a fx45. Had it for 7 years and love it
Better looking than a GTR. And Props to all the guys and gals behind this channel for making a killer video.
Man I swear you have the best voice and demeanor in motoring journalism. I always enjoy watching your reviews
The biggest problem is the curb weight is too heavy of a car which causes all the issues you are mentioning
@@madhatresearcher7995 German cars are less reliable especially if its bmw
Trey Byrd Infiniti currently is no better.

The g35 has always been my dream car but the q60 is just too sexy to pass up. I don't care if it's the fastest car, seeing the car in person is just a pleasure to see. Looks wise I think it's the best looking coupe, especially for the price.
I'm surprised this review hasn't changed your mind
@@madhatresearcher7995 it just stands out vs all the other coupes for the price especially.

Definitely a looker probably the best looking coupe on the market. Too bad the performance doesn't match the looks though
@@madhatresearcher7995 I thought about that too for practicality, but the q60 is just different when you see one.
Editing and story telling in this review was 🔥🔥🔥🔥, felt like I was watching an HBO documentary.
I’ve never seen cars being reviewed like this and I gotta say I like it a lot. It’s not a long video about some ppl just walking around it for mins and mins, you show beautiful views of the car with cinematic scenes rather than seeing the car reviewer face the entire time while test driving it.., lot information on the car and how it feels and even a full pov straight line floor- nice.
when you are on the gas and manual mode the shifts are quick and firm in mine
Man, the way how you've put this video together, great job!

I love my Q60RS, best looking of the bunch, fast as hell all done with comfort and style.
First time watching your video and the cinematography, and sound is just perfect. One of the best car review I've seen in a while.
I love the honest review,. Video quality and commentary great as well. In less than 2 years when I finish paying my G37x I’ll still go and buy a low mile used Q60RS for some low 30s or less
It’s beautiful and nothing about your review bothers me much... such a beautiful car ❤️
Anyways, I’ve liked this video and subscribed. I look forward to seeing more great content/reviews from you 👍🏽
The way he narrates is so funny, he sounds depressed and ironic at the same time haha
This is a beautiful car - however the transmission needs to be updated. I have the Q50S red sport, and it’s slow. Our S8 is heavier but it feels like a rocket ship compared to the Q50RS. Great video as always brother.
That S8 is a beautiful machine :)
Yes you are absolutely right. I went from a q50 ,329 hp with this transmission to a 180 hp BMW 320i with the zf 8 speed; the 320i made the 250 feel like Lexus
Understandable, the s8 makes about 200 more hp. That’s a big difference.
Manny Hernandez but only weighs a ton more
SiiCkLyXXAmAZiiNG it weighs about 600-1000 lbs more
I disagree with almost everything this guy say's about this car. This is Nissan GTR's little brother and this car is a beast in itself.
I can’t get over the videography

What great writing and narrating for this video. I applaud you my man.
It’s like I was watching a documentary and a review at the same time.

The dramatic effect used in this video is top tier. I love it.
Kudos to Infiniti for fumbling up their cars.
The key word here are “bolt ons” I like that Infiniti has a lot of after market parts
Your camera and video setting is amazing 🤩
the 21:9 aspect ratio at 4k is amazing.
Sports car or not, there’s still something about it that I find so attractive. Personally, I think this car looks best with black rims, black paint and light chrome accents. I think the name “sport” doesn’t fit it, but it’s good at what it does.
Perhaps the best reviewer out there
I never saw it as a sports car for the brand.
