My sympathy. Dependent children is why she is receiving food stamps. I too "make too much money" on SS disability to receive food stamps. I am only on share cost Medicaid. Which means I am only covered if my medical bills for a month exceed one dollar over my benefit. So I have have fourteen hundred dollars in medical bills (after Medicare pays) per month, not counting prescriptions, to have Medicaid cover me.
The system rewards laziness and deadbeats, instead of hardworking people who for some reason cannot make more money, or have to juggle two jobs to make ends meet. I had to stay unemployed during college because if I made an income of more than $400 BEFORE tax, while being legally homeless, and as a single mother WITH a dependent child under the age of 5, I didn't even qualify for health insurance, financial aid for school, or food stamps. So basically, if I even worked part time at McDonald's, I couldnt even get health insurance for my baby. I had to make money under the table with art commissions until I finished grad school and got paid during my residency. The welfare system is absolutely fucked.

I used to be pretty anti cop. Then I started watching these body cam videos, seeing what they have to deal with and how people act. It is insane how people behave. The system rewards laziness and deadbeats, instead of hardworking people who for some reason cannot make more money, or have to juggle two jobs to make ends meet.
It's the same here in Portugal and Europe as a whole, although when we elect right winged parties the situation tends to soften a bit.

I had to stay unemployed during college because if I made an income of more than $400 BEFORE tax, while being legally homeless, and as a single mother WITH a dependent child under the age of 5, I didn't even qualify for health insurance, financial aid for school, or food stamps. So basically, if I even worked part time at McDonald's, I couldnt even get health insurance for my baby. I had to make money under the table with art commissions until I finished grad school and got paid during my residency. The welfare system is absolutely fucked.
