I've been playing for a week. Learning scales lol got the pentatonic vertically (not sure the number) but wanted to know more. Lol you know. Scale positions and note names... just a second to you, but from a beginner. Really man =) thanks

The reason I identify them that way is because when playing the bass all the notes look the same when looking down at a bass neck vs playing them on a piano. When trying to identify where notes are on the neck sometimes it's just easier to say whatever comes first to mind. But I'm trying to be better about using them in them in the right context! Thank you for reminding me.
To try an awnser my own question hehe, Is it that the next note has to be one note difference away like "A B" is one note difference away then "A C" would be "B flat C" because "B C" are one note difference away?
Actually, the key of A doesn't have flats. If you look on the staff, A is a key with sharps, so it's actually A, B, C#, D, E F#, G, A. Travis mis-spoke.

Bass isn't about notes, it's about groove. Practice on your timing and groove first :)

Why are there five positions? Like, when should I use one or another?
When you say start on the number what are you referring to? At first i thought it was finger, or fret number but that isn’t it.
In the key of A the third and sixth, should be named C# and F#.
My pinky can't stretch long enough on my bass to hit the notes cleanly. Is there a way I can position my hands properly or so

For the First mode (key of A) when saying the notes why do we say Dflat instead of Csharp...
