Imho this is by far the best lesson for extending out the major pentatonic scale on the fretboard, with some great ideas on how to use it. All taught at the perfect pace - what a great teacher!
I appreciate the way you actually slow the lesson down and don't try to show the World how great you play.. You teach ut as if all of your audience are beginning. Thanks for understanding how to teach.
I am a beginner and just started to learn the pentatonic scales. This was just difficult trying to fill in back tracks. You just opened my mind. Please keep on posting.
Just signed up the other day. newbie on the bass. You are giving Us pearls of Wisdom...I'm trying to be more percussive in my playing, and the info your providing is Fantabulous!! Thank you & Peace and Much Love
It takes a lot of time finding someone to show you something as simple & plain as you ! Thanx for you input it’s great ! Everyone out there it seems want to show how good they are within showing you something & their egos get in the way of teaching
Very kind indeed.....much appreciated and so pleased you found it helpful! If you become a member of my channel you also get exclusive access to 'Member Only' perks too, and it also helps to support my work here! 😀 Cheers, Scott.
I am an experienced musician, played bass in a number of signed bands in the 80s (although bass was always my ‘other’ instrument, despite always loving the purity of it) and I’m enjoying going through these videos for ideas and concepts I might have missed or knew intuitively without knowing that idea as a ‘thing’. Thx.
Clear and so useful. Great camera showing the detail so well. A great resource for beginners and intermediates and titbits for advanced too from this legend bass player.
i’ve seen alot of your previous lessons…but for this one I really want to say many many thanks for that extra effort making the zoom in to the hands for clearer view demonstrating the finger works whilst showing your face explaining in the top box emphasizing the details… making it easier to follow. 👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼
Hi there - hope you're well!! Thanks so much for the positive feedback - means a lot and it's great to hear it's working!! I'll always strive to make improvements as I go. Once again thank you for commenting, very much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it Chris and thanks very much for the comment! I'm just near completing my first bass tuition course, which I will be selling, so let's see?! Cheers, Scott.
Thanks a lot. You have validated my habit of just noodling around when I first pick my bass in the absence of a structured lesson plan. I love to just listen to the bass as I monkey around. What a soothing instrument!! I do have some structure in my practice, but I reward myself with a few minutes of play. I'm glad I happened to search for a major pentatonic scale. Thanks again
This breakdown is so well explained ,and I like the way you don’t rush it like lots of others do, your definitely one of the best teachers on here Scott, I use major and minor pentatonics in lots of my reggae Basslines, thanks, I’ve subscribed ☝️

Loving the top left box for appropriate pentatonic bass face, nice touch😉. I've been playing bass 13 years and just had a eureka moment.....for whatever reason I've alway found it harder to play major pentatonic over a major chord, being a funk disco man maybe? 😎😍😍👍
I try my best!! 😀 I'm actually still doing a little 1-2-1 teaching on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Drop me a line on scott@scottwhitleybasslessons.com if you'd like me to send some details...
