i so agree the only person iv came across who is not only understandable but also not pushing the learners in a wayward direction where they never learn anything .. rather he pointed out the right chords the right sound the right techniques and simplified it to the next level .. Amazing Teacher .. may Allah bless him ameen
I can't emphasize it enough; I just love Jason. I've been tinkering with the piano / keyboard since I was a child, but it's only now in my 55th year that I'm beginning to understand it, and it's all down to Jason and his fantastic teaching methods. Even though I understand music and have produced a lot music using technology and digital audio workstations over the years, it's only in the past six months since watching Nathaniel's channel daily that I can officially declare myself an intermediate keyboard player after classifying myself as a beginner for 55 years. Thanks Jason, thanks Nathaniel School of Music.
I was practicing so much I was 1 hour 10 minutes late for a class just practicing and getting lost in using what you taught for the different keys. I am challenging myself to learn in different keys which can be a bit difficult but I don't give up any longer. Thank you for this lesson, wow. I have been going through your other videos. At first it seems advanced but when you go through each section, you break it down very nicely, where I face difficulty, I change the play speed to 0.25. Edit to add: The sus2&4 is hard because of how my fingers are used to play the chord a certain way and now I'm adding an extra key, and I don't use my right pink often.
Most welcome Sharon. Go for it! You can also use our website to find lessons which fit your level and requirements www.nathanielschool.com/free-lessons
This is getting very exciting...this is really proffessional stuff ,beyond the scope of beginner's lesson. The technique of melodic accompaniment using passing notes needs somewhat further elaboration...since this call and response type method of accompanying can indeed be limitless as opposed to harmonic accompaniment technique, where in a filler is improvised by using merely chord tones..I would suggest at least 5 or 10 dilfferent melodic accompaniment examples, using various scale notes in some future videos. Thanks a lot for breaking down this amazing theoretical stuff.
Hi Jason, I am so grateful that you have started this channel. Definitely you have blessed me especially in this video you are sharing. Been searching everywhere on videos to improve my overall playing and I am so glad to come across this video that is so informative. Indeed, with these knowledge being applied my playing will be improve & transform to better in accompaniment. Appreciate it, keep it up & God Bless You brother.
If I m not wrong , Elton John’s “Don’t let the sun go down on me” uses this plagal cadence, when he starts singing the verse. Thanks for this amazing lesson ❤️❤️❤️
@@nathanielschool i played lots of piano covers but i never learnt a single chord coz it never seemed like ill wanna learn. After watching you, i wanted to learn alot of chord progressions and experiment with thing you taught like apreggios and stuff! They sound so good, i just needa learn the chords off by heart which'll take a while but ill try thanks for the inspiration
Jason all there great concepts I work in everyday to increase my understanding and enjoyment . I'm learning so much I want to thank you for all the hard work you do helping use understand the full enjoyment of music . Question are you ever going to dig deeper into advanced rythem structures and polyrhythms and polymeter ty again God bless you .
Glad to help Robert. Already touched on Polyrhythm and some advanced stuff. Can you check these lessons: th-cam.com/video/JZ-qrS88mBs/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/l2z40W3_b7k/w-d-xo.html
Can you please tell me whats it call when you at 0:08on your left hand, you went from C (octave) to Eb passing through D? What is that movement called and what is the best formula to apply it? It feels like is 2 beats on C, one beat on D and land on Eb? I have always wanted to use that to enrich chords, but I do not know what it is or how to use it

Hi Jason, when you bring in melodic notes do you suggest using diatonic notes from the scale? Also when you play over various bass lines keeping the chord static where do you pull those notes from? Thanks!
Very detailed question Felicita. Will be tough to answer in works. Can you see this playlist. We've covered your questions I think: th-cam.com/play/PLrNNL05e9FT9Rh70I2dDIdR4eLNvMVFX0.html
very very entertaining and extremely educational…it makes me realize how much I don’t know…. I am 2 years new to the piano…. And enjoying the journey very much… this particular video was so full of information for a beginners mind… was wondering if you could come up with a chord progression for us beginners with embellishments …🙏🏼
Do you have a course to teach all these? i loved the intro to video. I am playing piano for 4 years. and my dream is to be able to create musics like this. how can i?

Nice
Please tell why 1-5-1 chord has been used instead of 1-3-5-1 in popular music.
1-5-1 chord allows you to play pretty much any scale, Major or Minor and their respective harmonies without committing to a specific chord progression
5 star
