Excellent video brother Will. So true, and something so many don't do enough. You can't log one landing per flight and have hope you'll get good at it.
I've been flying for 4-years and I still can't say I've mastered landings. Besides a stable approach, the biggest struggle for me (and I think most) is throttle management. There are days that I'll do 50 touch & goes and sometimes I think I've got it, but have figured out that I've only borrowed it. 😉 Thanks for doing these types of tutorials...it helps drill things in deeper.
You are spot on about throttle. It took me a while to figure out how important the throttle is on consistent landings. But, then I get all cocky and over confident, I'll screw it up... Its sure is fun to just practice... Thanks for the comments - Will
Just did the same touch n goes with my FMS Zero its my favorite, and I watch all tutorial on landing. I know only to fly with FPV but everything is the same exept the perspective. The Bonnie is on my list too ❤ Great tutorial
Very good video and info. You made a lot of very smooth touch and go runs. That P-47 seems like a very sweet handling war bird, and you do quite well with it ! I think sometimes I just get things going well - (on a calm day when I can just fly and land the plane the way I want) - and other days I just can't knock off the rust enough to do what I want. Maybe everyone has some good and bad days? I know my best days are when I have a slight wind out of the S / E and I can utilize the longest part of the parking lot to angle in and be into the wind for my landings. With a wind out of the other directions I struggle to make landings as pretty as my S/ E days.
Thanks.. Yep, good days and bad for me too.. I really enjoy it though.. Been working on landing with crosswind and landing Right to Left on our runway. (wind permitting..). Just some thing about mixing it up and getting out of the comfort zone..
Hi Will. I am curious how you might compare flying your big FMS P-47 with your Eflite P-47. And, have you tried the FMS flying from grass? Thanks - Rog.@@SteffenRC
@@jollyroger2226 I enjoy flying my FMS 1.5M more than the Eflite. The bigger plane just flies better. Tons of power, looks great and handles better on the ground. They fly pretty similar. The Eflite is a bit more nibble though. Also, I think I just like the larger warbirds... So, I'm actually selling my Eflite to a buddy. As for grass. I've had some landings that didn't end up on the runway and this P-47 handled the short grass without issue. I worry that as spring approaches, our grass at the field will get thicker and longer which will surely damage the retract wheel flap/covers. So, short grass wouldn't be an issue. I'd remove the wheel cover part of the retract system to keep them safe...
Will good job and info, this is what I been doing all week at the field the ranger 1220mm is easy then used the 850mm pitts I like how we think we got it then there is that one or more time it noses over bunny hops lol nice video 😊✈🛫🛬🪂🛩👍👍👍
Thanks Frank... I love practicing skills. I'll just keep doing a specific maneuver over and over until its more comfortable or looks better. I've got issues... 🙂
Great series of instructional videos. With this big T Bolt you went to full flaps at half throttle. Is that a general setting or just for this aircraft ? Knowing at what speed to lower flaps is my biggest issue. Cheer from Australia.
Thanks. I appreciate the comments... For this plane the full flap and half are kind of a general setting. Then i modulate the throttle a fair amount to adjust the rate of decent. I'll back off throttle quite a bit as the flaps are slowly deploying. Then throttle up a bit on that base to final. Its definitely a feel thing.. I just give the plane what I think she need with throttle. Thanks - Will
Bad approach=Bad landing. That is correct. On a very bad day for me I brought in my B-25J Michell on a bad approach and paid dearly for it bent two gear and ripped the other one half out. I may have to replace the two bent gear and If I can not make the ripped out gear right I may have to replace the center wing and wing pods. At this point I have to add it all up and decide if I scrap the plane due to repair cost being too high and just replace the plane or do I spend 1/3 or more to repair it. Either way it was a costly mistake on my part.
Tug, It happens a lot.. Those mishaps just unfold so quickly, but we remember them in slow motion. Then kick ourselves on why we did it.. I blew up my FMS Tigercat and was going to pitch it. But them as I looked it over, it was repairable with a lot of effort. The LGs were ok though, so the only cost was a new canopy. I'm amazed at how well these foam planes go back together.. Give it a try.. If you haven't watched that video of my Tigercat it may give you hope.. Good luck getting her back in the air.. Or replacing her.. Those B-25s are amazing looking planes... I love them.

Thanks Adam.. You know how I enjoy nailing that near perfect landing.. But there is alway room to improve.

Excellent. I like it very much !
Have a wonderful time ! ~ Milan
Glad you appreciate my videos.. Happy flying..

Great tutorial
I'm considering that 1400mm Zero.. Sounds like its a solid plane...
Practice makes perfect!
Thanks Pete...

Good job, Martha Stewart and John Wayne would be proud 😊
Joe, I appreciate it.. However, not sure I get the Martha Stewart and John Wayne reference.. Do tell....
