A question regarding the One Ring. There is no textual evidence that Smaug detected the ring worn by Bilbo but can an assumption be made that he did but was disinterested because his ambition didn't go further than maintaining his hoard?
The only connection Smaug had with Morgoth is that Morgoth created the race of dragons. Smaug and quite a few of his ancestors weren’t even alive when Morgoth was defeated so, no, there was no relationship. Waste of time making a video about it.
But wait.... Morgoth created the first dragons.... Giving rise to the entire species, which were utterly defeated during the War of Wrath and scattered... Predisposed to evil intent and a strange taste and love of gold, they were most comfortable around the ruins of Morgoth's fortress in the North. Where exactly did Smaug come from? What was he seeking? Why was he seeking it? To say Smaug had no connection to Morgoth is ridiculous. Smaug was born of Melkor's twisting of life. His greed and fury were directly instilled by the will of Morgoth. I put it to you; how was a direct descendent of Morgoth, with the desires and greed instilled by Morgoth... Not connected to Morgoth?
