What you can see in the image is "Shin Sangoku Musou 8". So not "necessarily" a special instance, DW has a LOT of slow songs, more than most ppl who haven't dive deep into it would expect. I haven't played DW 9, but going off the other 6 games I've played, this could be "Hu Lao Gate"'s Stage themes, most Songs from DW are Location Songs or Situation Songs. And yes..."Welcome to China" is definitely closer to what you initially thought DW would sound like lol, Thanks Again~

Dynasty Warriors has always been a legendary game franchise when it came to its OSTs but the 9th entry in the series really ramped up the emotions big time with the songs. We really feel the weight and desperation in every battle in the 8th and 9th games
Its awesome seeing you react to Dynasty Warriors music. The series has some killer tracks. This in particular is one of my faves being its for a portion of the game based on betrayal and vengeance most specific battles in the game have unique battle music this being one of them
Totally agree. Havent played since DW7 but was always fun vibing while slaughtering my enemies. Any other game as repetitive as Dynasty Warriors gameplay loop I would listen to a podcast but Dynasty Warriors games have such a good soundtrack throughout the games I just listen.
I’ve got many from this series to suggest for you to react to. The golden years of this series has SUPERIOR MUSIC that’ll floor you with how so many different kinds of music are in these track lists. Even in the hard tracks there are strong Melodie’s too that seep their way in to become very emotional. And sometimes even graceful.

The one Dynasty Warriors song everyone knows... is the theme of Lu Bu. The name of one of the most OP characters in lore and is borderline broken in quite a few of the games. there's a different version of his theme in almost every game
A little sad Welcome the China wasn't the first one, I expected it to be. Dynasty Warriors is mainly wailing guitars. Its meant to evoke the action of the game being the type of game where you press square and 30 dudes in front of you just die. So its a very fast past melee game. It can be a bit mindless but fun. Biggest issues with the series being pure oversaturation and lack of evolution. Like theres 9 main entries but each game has like 2-3 spinoffs in "Xtreme" "empires" and sometimes "special". Also fun fact the title you see there is Dynasty Warriors 9. But in Japan they separated the original Dynasty Warriors game (Sangoku musō) from the sequels "Shin Sangoku musō" which are what blew up. in America they just kept the name as Dynasty Warriors so the numbers are 1 off between regions. The music tends to change based on events you perform in the battles. Without remembering exactly and going on memory and feel, this makes me think of an somber event battle or losing defensive battle or maybe an infiltration styled level. I am interested in what you think of other songs in the series. I know theres some in the queue.
What's even funnier is the exact same thing happened again with the Warriors Orochi games. The second game wasn't treated as a full sequel in Japan and was more of a stand alone expansion pack, so it was called Musou Orochi: Mao Sairen (Rebirth of the Demon Lord). However in the West, it was just Warriors Orochi 2. For the next game, they did count it as a proper sequel, so it was simply Musou Orochi 2, making it Warriors Orochi 3 in the West lol.
It's been quite a while since last time I heard a Dynasty Warriors song (probably over 5 years). I'm still amazed that the atmosphere of the sound track still feels like what it was 17 years ago, the first time that I've ever play their game. It's really impressive.

This song plays during the Battle of Yiling, during which Lei Bei of the Shu kingdom is looking to take revenge on the Wu kingdom for betraying and killing one of his sworn brothers, Guan Yu at the Battle of Fan Castle. Guan Yu was supposed to return an area he was defending to Wu, but when he didn't, Wu decided to ally with the Wei kingdom and killed Guan Yu. A lot of the melancholy anger you might be getting out of this is supposed to be reflecting Liu Bei's feelings of getting betrayed and wanting revenge, even if it's a 180 from his previous gentle, empathetic nature until that point in the story. Each version of Yiling's soundtrack through the series has some of this mood to it, but Dynasty Warriors 9's version really cranks this up.

DW's OST is my beloved butt rock guilty pleasure, but there's some really good tracks in there, like Teary Edge, Male Roar and Twin Axe, and of course Lu Bu's Theme.
Try some of the inspired tracks like Osaka from Samurai Samurai Warriors 1 the 1 is important. Dynasty Warriors 2 and 3 are the same game try Men of intelligence or Gravity
Never played this game or heard this song, but Dynasty Warriors games in general always have tons of great metal tracks to accompany the player killing thousands of enemies... per level. If you've killed a million enemies in a Dynasty Warriors game... you've 'only' killed a million enemies. You'd still be a lightweight.
@@thenonexistinghero Reaching a thousand in PS2 games requires some work... it's either deliberate grinding, or a consequence of fighting desperately after losing too many allies
@@adzi6164 It's not time consuming either for most part. You just need to know how to get kills quickly. Most of my time playing DW was done playing the PS2 versions of DW2, 3 and 4. That said I suppose it's definitely not like later games. Or like Hyrule Warriors DE where you can get over 1000 kills in less than a minute on some maps.
Listen to some of the highlights like Lubu's theme (my go to is 3-5 and sort of 8), Tadakatsu Honda for a more heroic version, Men of intelligence (He fei castle, Wei side), Arena, etc. and maybe have gameplay to somewhat understand the context.
More like the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms novels, which are a heavily romanticized version of that era. But Romance of the 3 Kingdom is extremely popular to use in Asian fiction. Probably the 2nd most used material after Journey to the West.
If you want a more energetic song, Heavenly Strike (dynasty warriors 8) is dope af. Mixes Chinese instruments with rock very well. Dw9 (where this song is from) has my least favorite tracks from the franchise but are still decent

Dynasty warriors and Ace combat are my favorite games. The musics are really great and they both have that weird spinoff that people hate.

You should definitely check out NEVER DYING WISHES from this game, it's such a great track and one of the best in the series

There are a lot of traditional Chinese instruments used in the Warriors games along with guitars etc.
All Dynasty Warriors have a banging soundtrack. DW9s gameplay is not the best but it certainly tells the best Romance of the Three Kingdoms story.

Dynasty warriors is based around the Han Dynasty Era in China as far as my favorite song it be from the third game called The men of Intelligence
