Kitty actually kissed Matt one time in 19 years, and that was on the cheek. Season 3 episode 19 Murray Christmas... The best love story! and is still in our hearts... That's what kept gunsmoke a true love story. Them almost, but never kissing. People would tune in every week to see Matt kiss Kitty, or marry her! What would that have done to the show and to the love story? Ended the suspense of of a TV legend...❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The "going through the dresses" scene is from the episode The Way It Is, in which M&K have a big fight because he has to go to Topeka and will not be around to take her to a big "sociable" event in Dodge. She stomps upstairs. He follows her, and they continue their fight. She pulls out dress after dress, calling them her "disappointments" as she reminds him of all the times he hasn't been around to take her to dances, weddings, etc.
@Rhubarb I watched that episode last night. Kitty was really upset & all Matt could say “That’s just t way it is.” I so much love ❤️ watching those two M&K forever.😊

Each of the dresses represents a dance, social event, or trip they'd planned that got ruined at the last minute because of Matt's job.
