    There are some display that you can use directly with the edp port of the lattepanda. You save a control card and power routing !

    Hey there question would Lattepanda be able to run stuff like blender, zbrush, vroid, etc. Was wondering if it could Ru. Those along with some games even some high end ones if possible.
    Srry new to these stuff so don't know if Lattepanda is more geared to emulations and browsing

      Lattepanda 450$, display + ctrl card ~80$, keyboard 30$ maybe, battery 10$, cables+buttons 20$.
      So my guess is around 600$

    Beautiful, but very expensive + the charging is very wrong with the batteries. There must be a charging circuit in it + each battery is connected by itself, or they are charged in parallel

    I had a small doubt i.e how much standby time does it give with 3s battery pack. I am planning to use a 4s battery pack with a bms to directly give power to my raspberry pi and boost converting it to 12v to give it to my display controller. This is one approach or should I just use 4 18650 cells and a powerbank module to charge it as well and power 5v to raspberry pi 4 and 12v to display controller via dc to dc boost converter??

    • @l0k048
      @l0k048 ปีที่แล้ว

      series cells doesn't increase capacity, they increase voltage. you need parallel cells, and the capacity is gonna be determined by the quality of your cells. want a tip? recycle cells from old batteries from laptops, not all cells on them are bad, and work just fine

    I built a similar device at home and can share my experience:
    Use rpi zero w or analogues (I took banana pi) and put a laptop cooler on it: for the purposes of such hardware, there is enough performance, it is better to install linux: again, performance.
    Zero w is compact, you can arrange the elements more tightly and put more batteries (read about parallel and serial connection)
    About charging, add a protection board, buy a fast charging trigger board, so you can charge using type-c

    Although this is a good idea, it was thought out poorly.
    -With a display, compatible with lattepanda, you could just miss the display-driver part.
    -With such a thick housing it could fit 3X the battery.
    -Even if you want to use such little battery, just change the lattepanda to a raspberry pi and it consumes less power.
    -Displayless boost converter would consume less.
    -The hinge system is OK for a homebuild, but it should house less thick cables for a better look.(especially causes a problem when closing down, as visible on vid)

      @@user-qu1nh8hl8q As an electrical engineer I believe it is quite doable for me, thanks. I have given ideas so that in the unlikely case someone wants to make this 'laptop' it can be done more efficiently and in a more long-lasting manner. I could have highlighted important parts, like the use of the mini BMS, but if one doesn't know the importance of that, then one should not even begin to build such a project, since it would probably be a nice fire hazard.

    • @Saabafton
      @Saabafton 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In Europe it is difficult to get all the components very cheaply. This only makes sense when you can build a machine with a first-class CPU, graphic card, and mainboard for half the price of a laptop from a store would cost.

    the finished product looks great. However, there's a lot of wasted space inside the structure of the laptop, and a lot of components don't appear to be secured down properly. Also, it looks like you were in a rush to complete the build, which would affect the longevity of the laptop. I look forward to seeing improved builds.
