    Hi Colin, is there any other faster option to use instead of Rolling tool to correct video clips ? So I don need to stop timeline during the multicam ?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not totally clear when you say "correct". I'm assuming you mean to change the edit point of one camera angle. The only options are to use the Rolling Edit tool or pick the camera as you would normally do with a Multicam Master Sequence which is to click on the angle in the Multicamera view or press the Cut to Camera keyboard shortcut.

    I need help! This is the 3rd video I've seen that says, "Premiere will ALWAYS export the originals". I have version 14.9.0, I made proxies and added a proxy LOGO to them. I created a sequence with the Proxy videos, did my editing, and now when I export they always export with the logo attached. Even when the "use proxies" option is not clicked, and even though all videos are "online." What am I doing wrong?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First thing I'd suggest is to update to the latest version. Also, look in the Project panel to see what the Proxy Status is.

    having a weird problem , I've made proxies for 4K clips , set them up inside a multicam clip , and have toggled proxys on... in the normal timeline everything is working fine with playback , however when the multicam window is open it gets pretty laggy ... and it seems this is because the clips displayed in the multicam window are not using the proxies ?
    EDIT : Nevermind , saw a menu item to "auto adjust multicam playback quality" ... this fixed the problem

      There is a lot of misinformation and conjecture in this video so I'm not really sure how useful it is.
      The preferences he's showing are for Mercury Transmit and have nothing to do with Multicam or any other playback unless you're sending the Program or Source monitor out to another monitor (which he did not say he was doing).
      I use three displays and have never seen this problem.

    Hey Colin. I usually use multi cam editing whenever I'm doing editing on a music video or something similar. It's not meant to be used that way but it works out fine. All you have to do is be careful to use the same sync track on every take and then you can use the footage just like a multi cam sequence.
    I've got two little questions. :)
    First is would you recommend more adding the zooms and pans on the multi cam timeline or on the original clips. Until now I always did my adjustments on the original clips including color correction.
    The second is that I always leave the multi cam sequence cut up and just nest it in another sequence to get a full sequence to leave myself options if I wanted to go back and tweak the edit a little more.
    I did find that on our last project a music video there were 20 camera streams and the sequence was nested a couple of times and working without proxy files would have been impossible because on the original resolution it would have just stopped and in addition I added the global effects on/off button so that after correcting the original clips I could turn it off and work without the lumetri processing.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would definitely do all the pan and scan in the Multicam Master Sequence. For me, it's just easier to apply and see how it affects the edit.
      I would also apply Lumetri effects as a Master Clip Effect so all changes would ripple through the edit.

    • @vitalbutinar
      @vitalbutinar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I usually do the correction on the source clips in the multicam sequence so that whenever I cut to the same stream it is already corrected. But then do the final grading on the master multi camera sequence and then maybe something else afterwords.
      I tried editing a music video once without multi cam and it's really hard. Multi cam makes it much easier.

    Thank you for this video! btw, I have a 1080p Multicam where original footages have different frame size. Is there any way to see the full 4K image preview / program monitor while editing the multicam? I tried "set to frame size" but it seems not working? Any advice would be helpful!

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only way you can see a full frame of 4k is if the Sequence Settings are also 4k.

    Hi, excellent tutorial. I basically did most of this already. I use proxies for the UHD files, as you do. But when I export, even if I not select "Use proxies" the export contains the clips WITH the proxies in the text. How do I make sure while exporting the multicam (or flattning it), the proxies are off and my original source is used? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Colin! Is there any reason not to, or issue with either: 1. When selecting the clips, just select a 1080p clip first? (or will PP always default to max clip size based on ALL clips. or 2. Do what you did, and then manually create an empty 1080p timeline and just copy/paste all the clips into the new timeline. As someone that almost always shoots 3 camera plus separate audio, I definitely don't use the multicam functionality in PP enough! Thanks again!

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Create Multicam process uses the first clip selected so in my case I wanted the Source Sequence to be UHD and the Master to be HD. If you're not using Multicam, then you can just create any new Sequence that you need. I hope that makes sense.

  • @ChannelBecauseIHave2
    @ChannelBecauseIHave2 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Appreciate your expertise and sharing your own workflow.
    Your workflow is great for taking a long clip onto the master timeline and cutting the song or speech or whatever there. What I tend to do more, though, is have a multi camera sequence in the Source viewer and edit that into the timeline. I don't like the small HD on the source side. So I make my multicam sequences HD, open them in the timeline and use Set to Frame Size on the UHD clips. Now everything in the source viewer is "full frame" and I can resize the UHD in the master timeline as needed once I've cut the shots from the source side.
    Different strokes for different folks....

      Believe me, finding things in my own content is absolutely brutal as TH-cam fails in terms of content management. They make no master list or sorting available so you have to load screen after screen after screen.
      Yes I did work for Adobe for 17+ years and was let go when my position was eliminated. Thankfully it had nothing to do with my performance, I was just a victim of changing priorities.

      The first thing to understand is decoding is being able to read a clip. Adobe is using the built in Dolby decoding to read the clip. That means if you import a clip that uses Dolby, then Premiere Pro can read it and play it back.
      Next, and the bigger issue, is encoding. That's actually exporting out a new clip that will be created as a Dolby surround sound clip. Adobe does not pay for the license so encoding isn't an option. (Every vendor that offers Dolby must pay for a Dolby license). So no, you can't export a Dolby encoded file without buying a separate license.
      Big Hollywood film and television productions do not use Premiere Pro for final audio. Most use Pro Tools, some use Audition and others use various other programs. Many editors will export out to AAF from Premiere Pro so Pro Tools guys can import it as a starting point.
      Pro Tools is the big dog mostly because they've been doing it longer and they are directly tied to large, expensive mixing consoles. I've done many demos for Hollywood audio houses and I showed them all the amazing things that Audion can do and most just don't want to take the chance or rock the boat so they stick with Pro Tools.

    Useful video, thank you for that. I got a question. When I create a multicam sequence, I got all my clips on individual tracks and when I want to create a new sequence from it, it uses just the clip that's on the video track one. So I have to manually move all the clips to video track 1. What's the most effective way to move all those clips to video track 1? Or how to create a sequence from multicam that uses clips on all video tracks? Screenshots attached so you can better understand my issue. Thank you.

      @VideoRevealed  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bad news on both accounts.
      There is no easy way to move all the clips to V1.
      When a camera angle starts and stops, Premiere Pro always puts each clip on it's own track when creating a Multicam Source.
      This is a long time request from users and something PluralEyes does automatically. Let's hope one day they add it.
