I definitely see Thomas Morgan as the modern equivalent of Charlie Haden, he's a rock solid bassist who always brings a laidback approach to the music and lots of simplicity in his playing. A very reliable musician who can make anyone and everything sound beautiful, truly one of the best in the world
He is something special. His improvisations are so reactive to what is going on around him. Big fan of his playing. I also love his duo playing with Bill frisell.
beautiful, a big inspiration of mine. funny though because he stated before he never really listened to much charlie haden, just lots of ray brown, but of course given that deep gut string sound and contemplative and thoughtful style of playing he participates in, it's hard to not compare him to the maestro haden
His playing is extremely special, but (in my opinion of course) he's on a different trajectory than Haden. Haden was all about melody and lyricism. Morgan is more about ... as someone said below ... reacting to what is going on in the group and in the environment at the time.

Beautiful!
He is NOT the new Charlie Haden. He is Thomas Morgan.
Thomas is a new great bass player (THX2 Bill) and Charlie R.I.P. !
Thomas first caught my attention on Craig Taborn’s Chants. Awesome musician!!
Yeah, Thomas is a monster ...
