I got a friend who is super into Berserk. When I saw this video I knew this would make the perfect birthday gift. For someone who hasn't done anything like this before I think it turned out alright. However, mine isn't nearly as good as yours! Thanks for providing the opportunity to make a really cool sword!
Youve made a really good rendition of the dragonslayer! Alot of other carboard builds dont feel right. Sometimes theres no taper, or if there is one its too short. Youve really hit the nail on this one
I'm currently in the process of building it with a friend of mine, we've been able to get the cardboard from a local furniture store, we just need the spray cans and some other things to start building it. I hope that it comes as good as the one you've built!
@@VileRhythm he uses a lot of different methods to create it but I used just cardboard and paper mache as well as some spray paint as long as you follow the dement-ions under the video you should do fine.
The chain part is only on one side and acts as a hook that guts hooks onto his back so he can sheath it. Great video I’m definitely going to try to make this sometime soon.
I'm very impressed, almost every other Dragonslayer I've seen others make have been way off with the proportions but this looks accurate to me. I 3D modeled then printed my own one, it took hundreds of hours printing and assembly work but turned out amazing... And a lot heavier than I expected.
This is a LIFESAVER, Ive been working on/off on a Princes Mononoke cosplay and could NOT think of how to make the knife, mask and the neck teeth... things, i was already thinking of glueing cardboard together but i couldnt think of how to fill the edges so it didnt look like... cardboard. no matter how many times I watch this I can't help but click on it again and again. I've always loved making things and I love fantasy swords unfortunately I don't have any fancy tools aside from a miter saw so I love that you made a tutorial to make this without any fancy tools
For the graphite powder, if you spray your gloss colour on again and wait until it's nearly dirty but tacky then apply the graphite powder it gives amazing results and way better than applying it to a dry surface.
The reason the chain link is not visible at 4:30 when he's hanging the sword on his back is because he hangs it on a hook by the chain link, awesome build though, I've been wanting to make a Dragonslayer for years and I might just do it this time.

4:28 Half the time you dont see it because its only one one side of the sword lol! its part of the retention system he uses. the chain hooks onto a hook near his shoulder attached to leather straps, and a long chain goes around the bottom half of the blade at waist level on his back to keep it close to his body and not flopping around. when he draws the Dragonslayer, he uses his prosthetic to free the waist chain, and the act of lifting up the sword unhooks the chain from the hook.

Bofore applying the graphite powder, paint the parts you want metalic a gloss black base coat, and wipe down the prop with acetone to get rid of any smudges or adhesive after sanding. THEN apply the powder. Other than that, you did excellent! I'll make somthing like this myself one of these days

I’ve been following along with your video now, I’m about to start the drywall step. So far this has been a blast. I’m not sure where I can upload the progress pictures but let me know if you’re interested!
Now that I’ve started the drywall steps I’ve slowed down a lot, and ive noticed that the tip is pretty fragile. It doesn’t hold shape very well yet. My plan is to use tape to help the shape in between layers of drywall. I’m also going to use flex seal over the entire sword after I finish the drywall to see if I can make it sturdier and less likely to crumble down the line.
So I didn’t use tape, more drywall helped it out a lot. I also didn’t use flex seal, I used this stuff called bondo all purpose putty. That helped me fix the tip. I’ve just put the first coat of primer on it. I’m using rust oleum brand paint like in the video.

Okay the dragon slayer is described as "Far to rough to be called a sword" and the imperfect designs and flaws make this a perfect recreation.

the graphite powder wasn't looking that bad it remind me of oxidised wrought iron but the clean steel color is looking good too
