When I was an apprentice at a body shop the paint guy who had been painting for a long time told me, "Paint will never look better than the surface you put it over" Meaning you can't hide imperfect preparations with top coat. I guess this applies to block walls and stucco as well. But really Matt, none of us are watching expecting you to be perfect. You are one of us, just doing the thing to the best of our abilities and making it work.
Matt , don't be too hard on yourself . The craftsmanship you're able to perform basically doing it yourself is well above the typical DIY'ers . I also work alone and the term "Digging in " comes to mind ; it would get done by itself . Kristin is a good coach always supportive . Go team !
Matt get you an outdoor canopy like used for the beach, tailgating for ball games, etc. for shade while working in the sun on extreemly hot days. You would be amazed how much it helps.
You can use a regular Ole tarp to do that, too. I used a tarp over head when I put in a concrete patio in August. It was still hot, but I didn't get heat stroke. 😂
Well done Matt on the stucco for both inside and outside of the building. That has to be one of the hardest finish type products you could ever choose, and it came out pretty darn good. I also liked the landscape concept with the wood border and rocks. Easy to maintain and looks nice.
The best thing is having historical video coverage so you can show junior where they were a part of the crew doing all the work, loving man really Bless you guys now.....
That's just what I noticed today. Kristin just leveled up to another level of beauty! Maybe that's a normal part of pregnancy, but it sure fits her well!
You both did an amazing job Matty did an amazing job he makes it look easy and Kristin also did an amazing job at capturing everything the angles are amazing and the lighting wonderful editing skills
One of the soon to be grand-mothers moving to the property for a while? My legs and arms were aching along with yours Matt, putting up stucco is even worse than plastering a wall.
I think you are both doing really well there. You accomplish incredible amounts of work. From what I am seeing, I think you are doing your very best with the resources and skills that you have.
Very impressed with your stucco capabilities. You are a quick study for sure. I was thinking about rebar spikes in your landscape timbers and told myself just finish watching. A minute or so later you decided to go that route. Good on you!
I had a 17 story building came up 20 feet behind my townhouse so I got to see the whole process, you did a fine job. The workers the stuccoed the building laid 3 layers to clean up imperfections.
Kristen and Matt you guys are doing a great job. It is your home and no one will judge you. Be at peace with your labor and how cares if it is not perfect. Find joy with your craftmanship.
I still want you every episode and I'm sorry I can't afford to be a patron but it doesn't mean that I don't miss you when you guys are gone and it doesn't mean I do not want you every week I can't wait for you to post. You guys are a big part of my life. I know I'm not a part of yours but you are mine. And thank you for being you
❤❤❤❤THAT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! THAT WAS A BRILLIANT IDEA YOU GUYS CAME UP WITH ON THE PATHWAY, THAT WAY YOU DONT TRACK MUD A OVER!!! YOU LITTLE ON WILL SOON BE WALKING ON THE PATHS YOU MAKE!!!! WE LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!!!!
Groovy episode. The electrical, washroom building looks rad. Matt stop listening to the outsiders. They are just jealous of you. You have a beautiful and sweet wife, who is growing you a cool baby. You have a far out farm, in a lovely area with tones if groovy animals. You are living it large brother.
I can attest that coating a building with stucco is hard work. I built a 10x12 shed in my backyard and did a base coat, scratch coat, and then finished it with a textured brown coat. I let it cure for 3 weeks and then painted it. It came out really good considering I had only attended TH-cam University for a few weeks! Great job on your project!
I don't know about you guys out there watching this video but I do know that from where I'm sitting, it looks pretty good to me. Keep up the great work.
Wholly cow, what an introMatt, that's the best aria I've heard in awhile, you can really carry a tune. Don't get made, I'm with you brother, great channel, great content, and great narrating. Matt, your teaching us all about the do's and don'ts about construction work, thank you.
We place the cement on a trawl and we forcefully flick the trawl toward the wet hollow blocks in blobs.. we cover the whole area like this then use a wet trawl too then smooth the cement using a string line as a thickness guide .. we also mix cement fine sand and water as just cement and water will crack after it dries ..
Hello!!! From what I remember, it was my father. He mixed the cement with sand. After putting the mixture on the wall, he used a guide for the excess. You only use a smooth spatula. Here, a spongy spatula is also used, a large brush to soak the area. and also a sponge. Here, the process of plastering is not as simple as you make it. It is just a tip. I admire you very much and I always wish you the best. May God bless you🙏🙏🙏
Enjoyed the video again as always. I may have said this before, but I'll say it now at any rate. When you are mixing up multiple batches of cement or stucco or the like, figure out exactly how much water you add to the first mix to get it to the consistency you want. Then on the next batches put that amount of water in the mixer or bucket first, and then add the dry materials, mixing as you go. It will be very sloppy and easy to mix at first, until all material is added and mixed and you have the proper consistency at the end. Keep at it, you are learning as you go and not doing that bad a job of it! Jim
in 20 years that place will be really nice .ive done the same with 20 wooded acres now it looks better then most parks at least thats what i hear alot from others
Oi queridos gosto muito dos seus vídeos tudo que estão fazendo é fantástico Matt sua esposa está muito linda gravida , ansiosa pelos próximos vídeos ❤❤❤❤
You did a good job Matt, you probably just need to learn the drying times of the render (stucco). Catching it at the right time for smoothing is something you are either shown or learn from trial and error. I think even the best plasterer would have had to do two coats so don't beat yourself up. Good job
Uncle Matty, you will do what the Boss says; and you will do it with a big smile. Do you understand me boy? Thanks for the show. Great job on the editing, the most important part!
Just because you asked, I subscribed after watching you for quite some time now. Hope the changes coming mean you can sail some and farm will be looked after while gone as I miss you guys sailing and checking out new places.
Matt's Good Enough Construction. For a first time builder, you are doing an amazing job. As you say if you paint it and continue with the landscaping the focus won't be on your stucco. If someone dares to criticize hand them the floatr and the sticvo and tell them to fix it to perfection.
Love your work... I remember my wife helping build our house while she was preggers. And if you forget it She will remind you. It truly was a most stressful time that we still cherish. We moved in ten years and two kids ago but still trying to finish it 😂.

each layer of stucco is more like a high build primer. Including the color coat.
Ahh, the unveiling of the baby bump.its a beautiful thing

Wet sponge for stucco to finesse it.
Thats probably high level, I'm still a beginner 😂
@@SailingGoodBadandUgly wet song after it sets up a bit
oh yeah or a plank of wood with rounded corners
Matt get you an outdoor canopy like used for the beach, tailgating for ball games, etc. for shade while working in the sun on extreemly hot days. You would be amazed how much it helps.
And, Matt, wear a white shirt to reflect the sun. You will be much cooler.
You can use a regular Ole tarp to do that, too. I used a tarp over head when I put in a concrete patio in August. It was still hot, but I didn't get heat stroke. 😂

I guess I missed that part. All I heard was compliments????? You got a time stamp for me. Thanks, cause that would be funny!

You're a hard worker, Matt. I know how hard it is to work in hot weather. It's just no fun. I think the building looks great!!!!

Looks great !! CAN'T wait to see who's moving onto the property 🙌
Gran ma ❤❤❤
👋 right here ! 👋 35 years of stucco ! You got one thing right , yeah it sucks ! But hey looks good from Louisiana !
Great base! Get an outdoor paint, like a "porch paint" (it'll be thick) and add a bag or two of Homax Paint Texture, it'll be 👌🏼
Smart move Matty on the pine edges drilling and spiking them. About to do mine and I've adopted that one for my walkway. 👋💥💥💥
I think you are both doing really well there. You accomplish incredible amounts of work. From what I am seeing, I think you are doing your very best with the resources and skills that you have.
You be very happy ya put down fabric and the rock. Great mud control.😊
Very impressed with your stucco capabilities. You are a quick study for sure. I was thinking about rebar spikes in your landscape timbers and told myself just finish watching. A minute or so later you decided to go that route. Good on you!
I love watching you two! Great job on managing Matt's work
Pops is coming!

That is great work guys! I am impressed.
Looks awesome. Great job, Matt.

Having 4 kids and 18 grandchildren, I’ve seen a lot of baby bumps. Yours is right up there in cuteness! The utility room is cute to Matt😄

I feel absolutely the same. From Brisbane Australia. You guys make me happy. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
I think making a "Mortar Board" would help... I've done a lot of stuccoing and have never seen anyone work without a mortar board... You're welcome 🙂
Me either. And then at least both arms get equal workout.
Fantastic Job Matt, keep up the great work looking forward to next video. Love you guys
Thank you very much for sharing great video👶🏻
Do not knock yourself, you are a tryer and it is a difficult job to master but you have done a very good job, splendid effort.

This is the way to build a real house, fire and mold proof

Nothing to complain about, looks good. You got it done. Kudos just for that.
Wife and I love y'all. ❤
Mat is definitely a hard working man. He impresses me for sure.
Everything looks good. Chill out a bit and enjoy an ice cold beer . .
Kristen 💯 stain the landscaping timbers to match the roof, it will last longer too 😀
Except Matt should do it due to fumes and pregnancy.
Fumes make you pregnant?

Allright! Bonus episode and Kristin rockin' the baby bump. Thanks guys!
Kristen, pregnancy is looking good on ya! Yes, we can see it!
Building looks nice !
I agree with Kristin. Some slab-stones would be good on that stone walk.
I love the baby bump ❤.
Matt you can be very proud of your work. Awesome 👍👏🏻
