As an old lady plenty old enough to be your grandmother, I never ever want to hear you refer to yourself as “dumb” again. You are brilliant! Dyslexia is nothing more than a learning disorder that so many people have that it really should be in the realm of not being wrong, just not average. And who wants to just be average.😊

Easy Trick.. 100mm is just 10cm.
Dont handle Numbers in the 3 Letters. Do Smaller Number in Centimter instead and give them a little 2 Letter Millimeterr attachement behind the Komma if needet. ;)

DO NOT CALL YOURSELF DUMB-DUMB DAN. `you're dyslexic, possibly dysnumeric like me. We're not dumb my friend, we just see things differently. You're doing amazingly well. Keep up the great work.

    • @RiverWoods111

Dysnumeric I have never heard it called that. That is awesome! The formal name is dyscalculic. Funny thing that I realized is as much as I struggled with lower math/arithmatic, I am a bad ass with higher math like Geometry, Trigometry, and physics. I have actually never taken any classes in the higher maths, but I intuitively understand how to do it, generally not using numbers. That get's me labeled brilliant. We are what is considered Neurodivergent, and many neurodivergent people are on the highest part of the IQ scale.
You are right, we are not dumb-dumbs, our brains just process information differently. Neuro = Brain, Divergerent = Different. We learn backwards from the so-called normals. This is for you too Dan, as a matter of fact most ADHDer's are definitely above average IQ. We just struggle because of the way information is taught to us!

    • @afterthemouse
      @afterthemouse 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

@@RiverWoods111 As it was explained to me at my diagnosis in the 80's Dysnumeric was a problem reading numbers, dyslexic is a problem with reading letters (a gross oversimplification on both parts) and dyscalculic was more in the using numbers, the equivalent of writing I suppose. Mind you... at the time they measured my IQ as 147+ and decided that I was just not applying myself, after all I wasn't stupid... different times.

Im guessing you guys stopped using fans due to noise while recording, but I an ex shipwright would strongly suggest you reintroduce fresh air while you are down there. So many of my fellow Shipwrights have had serious illnesses related to the fumes and chemicals. They make fresh air plastic film tube. they come on a roll/spool, and they are about 500 feet long. This allows you to locate you blowers fan as far away as you want and the air coming in is almost dead silent. As usual, Uma is looking amazing, and I love watching the progress. Keep it up you guys. What software do you use for 3D scanning and editing. I would love to scan the interior of my sailboat for a refit. Thanks !

This might be a silly question- or already mentioned thought - If when you do expanding foam, cut some holes in your “confinement board”, as the foam will get out, but will do it through the holes, which are easily removed afterwards.
Your resulting foam surface then is formed where you want it - giving clean edges all around.

Watching you paint your bottom reminder me of a trick that I've found very helpful. Paint rollers generally have a threaded socket in the handle. These are used to thread the roller onto poles for painting ceilings, etc.
Even the shortest such pole is to cumbersome for comfort when painting a bottom, I've found that a sixteenth-inch-long bit of pole can make things much easier, increasing the area I can reach from any position while not getting in the way.

Don't call yourself a dum dum.
We all make mistakes. I am extremely good with numbers and measurements, calculating diagonal to get right angels and so on, but i have the most annoying tendency to make mirrored parts, where the wrong side is up, or i end up cutting on the wrong side of the line, making the part 3mm too large or small.
You guys have done really well. Love watching your stuff.

I know it is a bit late for Uma, but for those who may be doing this in the future. In my experience using steel plastering (or drywall) tools, after some practice, can cut the amount of sanding in half. Scrape off the fairing compound off the bigger tool with a sharp smaller tool before it fully hardens, no need for plastic tools.

I noticed that you created the problem by converting to centimetres and making a small mistake. I have worked in the construction industry in Australia for many years and here the standard is that all measurements are made in millimeters only. This is so that no one makes a decimal point error. For example 24.7 metres is documented as 24700 mm on a drawing.

As a dyslexic who lives in Australia has had some drafting training and does the occasional small building job I do not think that helps. It’s the long string of unformatted numbers that is the problem. In my head I am likely to drop or add a zero or reverse the seven and four between looking at the measuring device and writing it down. I much prefer to use a scale appropriate to the work, in order not to have training zeros ( meters for house sized, cm for furniture sized , mm for detailed work ) , then my intuition can form a check on that I wrote down from the measuring device. 255cm seat cushion , really let me check.

Try dyslexia with ambidextrousness& being a welder&mechanic& fabricator. The times I couldn't get a bolt in cause the driver was in the left and not the right hand, I cant even count. (Left handed go counterclock &right handed ppl go counterclockwise for those who didnt know). Or welded backwards in the early days..
So, trust me, I feel your pain. But we usually also thrive in areas other ppl dont. So as much as it is the bane of my existence, its also such a blessing. I tend to see it positive, but yah when you did those measurements I laughed out loud. I could feel that.
    Uma looks amazing!

I hope that Kika gets the passport situation (pass-sit) worked out because if she doesn't, she will be sorely missed.
