As a Madrid fan, let's be realistic. It's his first game adapting to a new team, and likely not playing in his favoured position. He's not shown previously that he can work alongside other stars due to his individualistic tendencies, so let's wait and see how he adapts to the new team. I don't think Madrid will roll over Atalanta and it might be a frustrating night for the over-eager fans drooling at the prospect of Mbappe, Vini and Jude magically having the understanding of each other right from the start. I hope I'm wrong and I'm sure Carlo's got things under control but let's give it time to see if the egos and playstyles can really blend.

More than ever, bc of the crisis they’re in, I hope (and believe) they can cause an upset. I hope they use all of this controversy as motivation and surprise everyone. That said, the national team is so fucked rn. I really hope/pray the Nations League isn’t a disaster. Normally I wouldn’t be too concerned w a tournament like that, but after the Euros/with how little time we have, Spalletti needs to take every advantage possible of these games. These games are huge. Thank GOD the World Cup qualifiers don’t start until March. I hate to admit it, but I’m extremely nervous abt this next World Cup and fear it may be three in a row. Hard to believe the last time we won a World Cup match was against England in 2014. The last Italian to score a goal at the WC was Mario Balotelli. The last time we were in a knockout match was the 2006 final. Dark times. Really dark times. Thank God we’ve been good in the Euros, minus the last one. Sorry to go off on this unrelated tangent but I’m very very nervous.
We can’t only barely qualify for the WC, which right now may be best case scenario. We need to qualify emphatically, playing w quality and making a statement that commands some respect (bc there is zero for us rn). Then, we need a good performance at the WC. We don’t need to win (although that would be nice) and we almost certainly will not. We’re light years from that rn. BUT, if Spalletti can start something now the way Mancini did after the 2018 debacle, and use these matches to his advantage, we can be contenders and taken seriously again. I wanna see us qualify in advance and not leave it to the last game or the playoffs. I wanna see us too the group (none of this shit like in 2002 or these past euros). Get in the bag after the first two games so you can rest bug players for the third game. W the amount of games played all season long, burnout (as we saw at these last euros), and with the way Italy tend to go extra time often in knockout matches, we’re gonna need the rest. Get to the knockouts and beat some big teams and make it to the semis. That’s the minimum for me and what I’m hoping for.

I completely agree with Carlo! Atalanta have signed practically all rejects! Godfrey, Zaniolo, Retegui, Sulemana are all bang average players at best! Furthermore, Pubil (Arguably the best signing for Atalanta) his transfer has just collapsed! Atalanta like most Serie A clubs are in total disarray! Sad times
