my first time ever listening to Korn. didnt know what to expect didnt even know their genre since in simply never paid attention. lets see how this goes! @miasorety
There’s been studies that have shown that metal music is very therapeutic, metal songs are about a lot of things, some are about trauma, some are about depression, some are about love, some are about heartbreak, some are about hopefulness, some are about politics, and some are about religion
If you like jazz an classical music then your not far away from being a metal fan. Some bands incorporate elements of both just in a more aggressive manner.
The video is a visual metaphor for how we are constantly "dodging bullets" every day, and the constant anxiety that something could go very wrong at any moment
@@MiaintheMoment also as others have said, Korn was not only a pioneer in starting the "Nu-metal" genre, but weren't afraid to use their music to bring taboo topics to the forefront. Their songs often talk about mental health, suic$de, domestic abuse, SA, bullying, the corruption of the music industry, becoming a survivor. The singer Jonathan Davis was a victim of severe abuse, of all kinds(even SA). And instead of letting it take him out, he used his music to heal, and in turn, helped millions themselves heal and become survivors. They even made a whole album dedicated to victims of bullying and how you can overcome it and not allow bullying to push you over the edge. The album is called "the untouchables".
Jonathan Davis, the leader singer, was physically and sexually abused by his father growing up and he tells parts of the story in some songs. He did a song called "daddy" that is the most heartbreaking. There is even a music video they made where it's about the father acting out against his child
His babysitter abused him. His parents didn't believe him. He couldn't perform the song live for many years. After his abuser died, he performed the song live as part of a 20th anniversary tour, where they performed their entire self-titled album.
Has no one mentioned Sleep Token yet? Because with what music you're saying you're into, and trying to delve into metal music? That's DEFINITELY a band you should check out! There's 3 albums' worth of material - all of which IMHO is worth checking out - but I'd start with 'The Summoning'...
@@MiaintheMoment this may sound strange but the "Black Metal" genres have some beautiful and very interesting music. But the singing is very intense and aggressive.
Nice reaction, thank you for stopping yourself from pausing in the middle of that section. Lead singer Jonathan Davis was “scatting”, making random sounds without words that still fit the music. KoRn is considered nu metal, which borrowed from hip-hop a bit as far types of beats, use of some rapping, and also major grooves. There are great rap-metal groups out there who combine MC flow with heavy riffs.
I recommend "Falling Away from Me" next from this band, it's one of their most popular songs and an easy one to get into. Korn are particularly good to listen to for an emotional release, singer Jonathan Davis has gone through some shit and his willingness to fully open himself up through his music is like mutual therapy to many fans.
Nice reaction! Korn is a great band, this is one of their best. I think along with Slipknot and System of a Down, they are the best of the new metal subgenre. I heard you like classical music, then you are going to love Symphonic Metal. You should listen to Nightwish, Epica and Therion to name a few.Therion being the ones who initiated this subgenre.
I'll admit it isn't something I'd listen to normally myself. Perhaps try finding and analyzing the lyrics; that may help. This was my first exposure to Korn, and I won't be going deep dive on them probably; just not my type of music. Still, I might check another song of theirs out if opportunity presents itself. I'm not a metal guy, but I do have a blu-ray concert with Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra's presence helped me appreciate Metallica's stuff more.
Your channel is going to be flooded with metal heads now 😂 Lorna Shore: The Pain Remains 1! It’s a three part song but need the lyrics up for sure, definitely worth it!
🔥 good song choice for a first listen. definitely a good band to dive into! the genre they fall into is called “Nu Metal” more of a rap and funk influenced type of metal if you will
I would love to recommend the band Deftones, they were in that Nu-Metal genre back in there first two albums (adrenaline - 1995 and Around the Fur - 1997) and then started to really break away from that in the release of white pony in 2000, I would love to start you off with Digital Bath or Be Quite and drive (Far Away) as it shows the more melodic side, which I think you would enjoy more
My second favorite band ever. Saw them last year in Vegas. You should react to more of them and other bands like Deftones, Chevelle, Motionless in White, and System of a Down
Not sure if anyone told you this yet... One of the things that makes Metal so attractive to people like me and probably your brother is that the sound is just as important as the lyrics. If you want to you could bring up the lyrics as you react so you can understand the meaning as you listen to the tone in which it's delivered. You love Jazz and Jazz is all about emotion behind the sound. Feeling the music. Metal is the same way, just in a different medium that you're not use to.
If you would like a good comparison of Metal being related to Jazz, then you should listen to this song. No lyrics, all instrumental. Metallica - Orion (Remastered) 1986 th-cam.com/video/TydZ4NAXMic/w-d-xo.htmlsi=babSVyCwEVX-EU0h
“I like this.” Careful now, you might just mess around and find out you like a little jazz in the morning and some metal in the afternoon. Give it time lol
Music is always different for every person. It affects us all differently. Some hear screams, others hear poetry! I LOVE jazz and played sax for years. I love metal along with everything else but there is always time for Metal! To hear some jazz components check out “Thank You Scientist - Mr. Invisible” a great song with great jazz components. Also Diablo Swing Orchestra - Lady Clandestine Chainbreaker.
Haha this song had me like 😶🌫️🫣😳 the whole time. Definitely had the same reaction to this because whaaaaat lol You should definitely react to ( Hail to the King - Avenged Sevenfold ) if you haven't heard that before 🤘🏽👅👑
You should check out some of there ft. songs like, Starting To Turn-Tech N9ne ft Korn, Whatever Goes Up-Bone Thugs Ft Jonathan Davis, Wake Up-Notorious B.I.G. ft Korn, F Dying-Ice Cube ft Korn.
Props to ur bro for suggesting this👍 U should definitely check out Metallica - Master of Puppets (live 1989) They were at their absolute peak during that era and the Seattle live show is Legendary 🔥
Looks like you're onto something. And your brother seems to know how to get you there, if you decide to keep doing these reactions. I'm not making requests now, others will But you said you're all about jazz & classical, which gives a little hint where this can go, that's nice. And you'd also listen to hardcore things when doing workouts, i wondered what that is, the music, if you like to tell, it'd be cool. Have a good time, that's all it needs
Hello Mia As usual you are looking very beautiful and gorgeous.Thank you for being your self and for giving this music a try.Love your channel and hope you react to more.
Lovely lady, I'd love to suggest a group called SKYND, in particular their song Edmund Kemper. They consist of a female singer and a guy that does all the music, their songs are about true crime/serial killers, a tad morbid yes but alas the music is sooooo good.🖤
Can i recommend a couple of great songs outside your comfort zone? NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love Score (OFFICIAL LIVE) Calle 13 Latinoamerica (subtitled) Metallica S&M Symphony No Leaf Clover (Official Music Video) Greta Van Fleet - When The Curtain Falls Heilung - Anoana [Official Video]
