Does a wild food cost on a bird card match any food type on the duet board? (Like a wild star nest matches any type of nest?) Or no food spaces or the food type you actually used when playing the bird?

Yeah I didn’t get a reasonable explanation in the video to answer this. I watched it three times and just not sure why the pieces are shaped that way, they could have very easily made them circle discs.

The video isn't going to address why the publisher decided to go with that design choice (that doesn't belong in a tutorial), but the video should hopefully make it clear how the game is played, so you don't accidentally think that they can share a space (since they can't) - that's the confusion the video should help prevent.

It doesn't look like very many cards come with this version of the game. If you don't have the regular game - Wingspan, will you not have enough cards or will it get old playing this pretty quickly because of a lack of the number of bird cards?

Duet seems like a quite different flow, with that new card area and tokens. What are pros and cons of 2-player duet vs 2-player standard? Is duet trying to accomplish something like more streamlined, faster play or anything like that?
I think in part, the benefit is the self contained nature of being able to play from this one box, but as I don’t do review styles analysis, this question might be better suited for someone else to try to answer.
No difference at all. They wanted this game to be stand alone for 2 players, and including a full 3d birdfeeder would have required making the box bigger (and increasing the costs, I'm sure). Same reason they included a board for the cards, but not a full molded plastic tray.

this is what it says in the rulebook from what i could find: BONUS: Some spaces on the Duet map have bonuses. If the space that you use has an egg, card, or food die on it, you gain the item shown. so I think it's a food die and not a token, and a card from wherever you want, tray/deck:) that's how i read it at least.

At first the Flock Mode sounds a bit complicated, but it really isn't. And I'm not worried, as some might be, about the player count. To each their own, I suppose, I'm fine with even seven players at the table, however I wouldn't break this game out on a party, of course :D Anyway, can't wait to grab this and add it to my collection. I literally "completed" my Wingspan with all the expansions just a few days before AE was announced! :)

What happens if you have mixed Asia into everything else to play full 3+ player game but then want to play duet mode?
You can play Duet mode with cards from other expansions (or you could un-mix them by referring to the icons in the corners, if you wanted to).
