Here's a challenge I haven't worked out for myself yet: when was the last TdF won by a bike not made by a brand that uses Chinese manufacturing for the frames My guess is you'd have to go back to Pantani 😂
I think this bike will be like the Meridas and the Uno-X bikes at the Tour de France... they're good value, but you can't get them in every country. Which I guess means "Which is the cheapest bike at the Tour de France?" will depend on which country you're living in...
I met the XDS people back in 2008 at Friedrichshafen. We chatted on a eurobike-organised bus trip to a test zone across the German border in Austria. They told me about the numbers they produce in other sports segments, making stuff like carbon tennis rackets & ski poles, etc. A mega company, but unknown at the time.
Nice bike(s). XDS is big and good. I am interested in the XC Fully which I saw over your head of the bike shop sales desk :-). What's happening China is amazing on so many levels.
Winspace bikes and wheels were ridden in a grand tour last year and will be at The Tour this year 👍🏻🙋♀️. The performance and reliability feedback for any brand ridden at these levels will be huge.
He means the women's Vuelta and the women's tour. He's not wrong. But as a test of equipment, the men's grand tours are obviously harder. Higher weights, higher powers, higher speeds,.more mileage, etc.
Willier had the best paintjob in WT. It's sad they're gone now. I would like to ride this RS9 in some nice paint job at around 6.5 kg for 4k USD. Can I go back with a bike to EU and not pay taxes for the bike? Anyone know that?
Joe, do you think the AD9 will have a fork able to accommodate 30mm or 32mm tires? The competing tour brands have moved in that direction. What do you think?
Even Open Mold frames have been ridden in the TdF. I’m pretty sure Cadel Evans rode an open mold TT frame in his Lotto Team days. They were on Ridley bikes back then and Ridley simply didn’t have their Dean TT frame in the lineup yet. So they took an open mold frame and put their logo on it and Cadel and the team rode it. Not sure how successful they were. I’d have to look that up.
take a trip to those 144hrs visa-free cities in China, XDS stores are literally everywhere... build a bike, ride and travel around the city for a day, go back to the store and ask them to disassemble and pack your bike, flight back with your box, done. easy and happy weekend, only thing you need is some courage and two-way tickets.
@@jonphotos8631 Joe explained that XDS don't want to trouble their OEM customers by selling a product that competes with theirs. XDS makes is primarily a frame manufacturer.
Trying to get someone legit to sell them to Europe seems a bit hard, otherwise I'd get the RS9 in a heartbeat. RS9 with Ultegra is really cheap for the price and great and they offer great paintjobs too. Would love to see you ride the RS9.
@@michaelmechex yeah, I do have local cube stores. That said, those new wheels with the hidden valves on their top bikes look like a pain in the ass to maintain or fix after a puncture. Cube is really putting up the fight against DTC companies in Europe.

I heard XDS dealers are selling AD for parts as we speak; Vision wheels and Dura ace group sets are going to flood the Chinese second hand market. The dealers are smart, they can make a profit by justing selling the group set and vision wheels, as for the frame, honestly no one cares.
