Love ur videos Simon. Got so much good information and tips from you, it gave me a bit more confidence in pottery classes. Please could u demo the 'chattering' technique , I'd like to see what tool you use and wheel speed etc. Thanks.
Simon, thank you for showing us how to throw this bowl, I have tried several times on this in the past and have flopped big time. The tips and techniques you gave were very helpful, and I look forward to trying again. one time I succeeded in throwing the bowl, but got a huge s crack in the glaze firing, what causes that and how can we prevent it from happening.
I hope to come your workshop and learn from you alot but im very far 🙁 I already bought a pottery wheel at home and i use to learn from you alot amd i hope to meet you,but as i said im very far im in egypt but i hope to come live with you prof❤️❤️👏👏👏
Hello, I love watch any of you videos as they inspire me. I do have a question about the chair, saddle you are sitting on as well as the height of your wheel. I am finding comfort is very important at 72. Thank you Simon.
Adding a simple wood stop block to the foot control of an electric wheel prevents the wheel from turning too fast. The block can be fine tuned by adding a paper spacer to get rates of one revolution per second when controller is fully pressed. I found it is easy to slow the wheel with the block in place.
Well what you were told is not actually true as you can change the inside, best make sure its well attached to the wheel though. I will demo this shortly.
Thanks Simon, One of my goals as a new potter is to be able to throw a bowl that size. Again you make it look so easy.
Thank you. Great teacher. 😀
Love your videos Simon! These vidios got me through my pottery class, now im in love with the pottery wheel!
Thank you, glad they helped you and you are now centered on the wheel !

Thank you yes that is something one can do to help a bit.
The big advantage of the stop block is it prevents accidental changes in wheel speed faster than normal throwing speed.
Simon I was curious why you added the play sand. What property will that offer? Thanks for the videos they are helpful and motivating.
Donald Burchell the grads in the studio where my class is do this as well and say it gives the piece more textore , is this true?
Hi Simon. Great work. 15 inches width Approximately how high and width of the very base

can you show us how you adjust the inside of the bowl when it's leather hard please?
Yes I will show the trimming and finishing.
brilliant, thanks, I've always been told you can't change the inside once it's leather hard and I get that little square edge all the time.
Well what you were told is not actually true as you can change the inside, best make sure its well attached to the wheel though.
I will demo this shortly.
