I love and collect Pro-Tech. :) I started my career working for a life science reagents company that manufactured radioactive compounds that chemists and biologists used in their experiments. Tritium is safe (i.e. found in almost every smoke detector, etc.) because it is an alpha particle emitter. Of the various forms of radioactive radiation (i.e. alpha, beta, gamma, x-rays, etc.), alpha particles have the least penetrating power. In fact, they are not able to pass through a sheet of paper or human skin. This is why, unless ingested, they are considered safe for use in things like thumbstuds and sights. 🤓
