I think it was definitely Dolche’s dad and I’m so mad that he got to live and die without facing any consequences! Also what explains the bloody male handprints on the fence if she was hit by a motorbike?
@@ninaa3699 - lots of details of the case had been released to the public by this point; I'm not saying she made it up on purpose or anything but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that someone vulnerable from counselling and trying to make sense of their own childhood trauma could have convinced themself of something that didn't actually happen. It was my first thought anyway, that it could have been a defence mechanism of the brain or something.
The person who hit her probably went to check and see if they were alive. Thought they were dead, began removing clothes because they were scared and wanted to cover their tracks. Saw she was alive, freaked out and did kill her so they wouldnt be charged with attempting to cover up their hit and run, then left. Thats my theory!
Well if she was hit by a motorbike the person could’ve moved her body and in the process gotten blood all over them which would explain the handprints on the fence but I agree to that it was Eric
It’s kinda funny that they wouldn’t investigate a guy for murder because he ‘totally wouldn’t drive without a license’. I just feel like if you’re being told someone is a potential murderer traffic laws would be the last thing you’d worry about.
My thought too. And if they had dna to compare against the other man and his sons why couldn’t they compare the dna to his children now even though he’s dead?
Soooooo.....I just wanna be clear here. The police officer followed Dolche, right? I was an American child in the 70's and did at times go to school with a hand print on my face, bruises on my arms and legs, and at times sitting was painful. No one ever questioned my mother and stepfather's right to do this to me. I never remember anyone batting an eye at it. I know it was an accepted thing until long after I graduated from high school in the late 80's. Was it like this there also? I have watched several shows on women who were murdered by an abusive spouse there, and almost every time the cops had been called, but never assisted the woman and her children. They took the guy for a walk, and told the woman to stop upsetting her partner. If the woman fought back and the man died, she was sent to prison. This happened in America also. Women universally were "evil" and "unwomanly" if they fought back. A man's home was his castle and if he beat the "little woman" and the children, well the gal should have picked a better man, or should just shut up and take what was coming to her. Parts of my childhood were horrid. Parts of my childhood were wonderful. Almost all of my childhood as a girl, I was dismissed if I said things against the man in my mother's life. It really was the times and the way society viewed domestic abuse. Forget incest being investigated. Child sexual abuse was only believed if it was a stranger or the mother's family had money and wanted the man gone. It is marginally better now, but the pendulum has swung so far to the other side that men are afraid to defend themselves, because if the woman has even one tiny mark, the man must have been abusing her. I hope it is better there than here.
The fact that the girl is told that her father beat her and raped her and that all the policeman did was to say: You shouldn't say bad things about your father, he is a good man. WTF?
It’s seriously horrible but the only point I could make to explain the police officers actions is that he waited until he WITNESSED the crime so that there was no way the father could get away with it. Proving domestic violence is already an impossible task so it’s possible he thought the only way he would have a successful conviction is to have witnessed the crime, not arrest on suspicion/verbal statements (horrible how the system works but many abusers walk bc of lack of evidence)
Eric keeping a photo of Betty ?? Very weird, I believe this theory the most but all these cold cases are so sad to me. It’s nice to bring awareness back to them, Rest In Peace Betty ❤️

I think a motorcyclist would have gone flying off the bike and injured himself pretty badly if he hit a pedestrian that hard. My reason for saying that is that someone I knew growing up drove a moped into a small heap of dirt in about 20 kilometers per hour and went flying off the bike, breaking the wrists of both of her hands and her clavicle in the fall. It would have been easier for me to believe that theory if it had been a car, because the driver would have been much better protected then. I think the best theory is the last one you mentioned. She was a child, and her father was very abusive. I wouldn't blame her if she tried to suppress this event, and didn't go all in on making her accusation until after he was dead. Very interesting and tragic story, regardless of what happened to this poor young lady.
So I read that Desche remembers taking her father's shoes to be repaired and they would glue patterned soles to the bottom, so the mark could have been from the soles of the shoes. I think it was Eric Sterry.
I believe Eric was the one who murdered Betty Shanks because he was wearing a suit at the time of Betty's murder and he warned one of his family member to not tell anyone or they'll end up like what happened to Betty. Could you cover the case about John Newman? he was a politician who got gunned down outside his house in Sydney back in 1994.

I want to believe the last Eric theory. All police needs to do is re-open the case and look for more DNA evidence that can match with his daughter's DNA as a genealogy trace. If she was hit by a motor bike, the strangulation marks on her body does not explain this.
@@rosarosarosa she said it was a cop on a motorcycle? so he'd be ruined even if it was an accident? 🤷🏻♀️ better to just murder her and flea the scene 🤦🏻♀️ so sick

So many strong theories in this case! When it comes to the police not taking action in regards to Eric's abuse of his family, my best guess is that it was very common in those times to turn a blind eye to instances of child abuse. My parents both endured abusive childhoods in the 50s (Australia and USA), and they've told me that there was legally nothing in place that would have protected either of them, as it was basically the parents' business how they chose to raise their kids back in those days. Kids could come to school with obvious bruises from beatings and it was just ignored because the parents were within their rights. My mother once directly asked a teacher for help and there was nothing that could be done for her. I feel so horrible for Desche and what she went through and I hope that she was able to escape her father early on and that she had a better life once she did. And it goes without saying, but fuck abusive parents. Seriously.

@@chelsealangford8206 yeah I thought about that. Especially if they are guilty of something that no one knows of. It just makes me sad knowing that some families won't get closer.
Eh, I don't want cops playing with my corpse. We have a huge backlog of DNA in the states and not enough resources to process half of it. That's just for violent crimes. I'd be happy if every cop had to submit DNA when they start working.
As idealistic as this seems, DNA evidence could link individuals who have now died to all sorts of crimes including theft and financial crimes and the criminals families including spouses or children who may have had no idea of the crimes but are left the estate, etc. in the will can then go bankrupt from restitution and may be ostracized from their social/personal circles
If DNA was taken from the suspected Doctor's son to rule him out through comparison to the DNA found at crime scene, why not do the same with the other persons of interest in the for mentioned theories? I am sure the girl claiming her father's involvement would be more than willing to cooperate. The fact this isnt mentioned is strange and if she or her brother are still alive ,then this testing should be pursued for validation of her story at least.
She did provide her father's DNA from his hair in 1999, but I think it wasn't tested and the theory wasn't that much looked into in general because her father had died in 1997 and couldn't be charged anymore
@@despicabledavidshort3806 yeah absolutely! It's really sad that cases go unsolved for so long that the perpetrators have passed or the statute of limitations is already up :/
So many theories! It’s between the motorbike and Erik for me. It just seems weird that when they went to go interview the person of interest he legged it and they’ve never found him again. Does he not have family they good so familiar DNA testing on? Also with Erik could they not test her as well? I feel like she needs to keep going back and asking the question if she really is telling the truth about what she witnessed/knows with Betty. SO MANY QUESTIONS! The fact they have DNA is really positive though, as many of these really old cases have items go missing or not enough for a proper DNA sample. Hopefully this gets solved soon!
I LOVE your mystery videos so much! You should look into the Michael Dunahee case if you haven’t yet, it’s one of the most confounding missing children cases in Canadian history.. not sure there’s enough information out there to do a video on it but an interesting case nonetheless!
I think maybe it could be a combination of theories….what if after the train Erik started chasing after her while they were fighting, maybe while running away from Erik she got hit by a motorcycle, he hid while it happened, motorist drove away. Maybe Eric fled when it happened back to his kids.
Hearing screams. In 1952, people didn’t want to interfere in other peoples domestic affairs ( that kinda culture was encouraged and meant domestic violence was rarely reported by neighbours. Some still don’t today unfortunately). A lot of people didn’t have private phones too. It was a long scary walk to the phone box in the dark to report a scream if you were a woman who thought she heard a scream perhaps. A famous Brissy cold case. Very well presented. RIP Betty.
Hey Bella I love the Australian cases, especially ones close to me! have you looked into any cases from the blue mountains? There’s only a few and I’m not sure how much info there is about them but I would love to hear one!
This is really interesting…there was a man nearby me who jumped out of a window, and his pants came down. When you mentioned the idea of a motorcycle, together with her underwear being off, l thought of it straight away. Not sure…poor woman, honestly. But the serviceman with those psych reports? My money is on him. So frustrating that we don’t know! Thank you Bella❤️

(I’m a Texan) so I’m not used to it. I also got think you do a fantastic job and story telling. Very similar to Mr.Ballen, only a female version. Your story telling is soothing in a weird way. 😂.
It is possible that some might have thought the scream was wildlife, such as the woman who was reading. Based on the evidence you stated of the injuries, I think the motorbike was the most likely answer. As to the father getting away with the abuse in front of the officer. Well sadly the answer the daughter got about don't diss your daddy, gave insight there.
I think the little girls father did it. Just like someone else said, there are to many details for her to have made it up. I believe it was the little girls father. I hope he is burning in %$#@ for what he did to that poor little girl and to Betty. If the police really wanted to solve this case they would have compared the DNA they had with the hair the girl gave them. Thank you Bella for another interesting and Well researched case!
I'm sorry someone heard screaming and "sounded like someone was dying" and they went back to reading!? I freak out when I hear my neighbors husky because he sounds a howling child. What the hell?!
I've only just started watching the video, but I relate to her already - I feel the same way she did, wondering if somethings wrong with me bcuz guys don't like me. it's a hard feeling, not having a significant other, especially when everyone around you does. it's even harder when it's what you want more than anything - that and starting a family. I'm only 23, so I know I still have a lot of time. but there's still moments that I swear it's just not bound to happen for me in this lifetime🤷🏼♀️ so I definitely feel for this poor girl, may she rest in peace😔🖤
idk about the motor cycle theory. if the collision was hard enough to launch her body that far, knock her unconscious and cause such injuries… wouldn’t the driver also be very badly injured? maybe not as bad as her but definitely in need of proper medical attention?? how would they have been physically able/in okay enough condition to go back and “finish her off”?
Yeah and wouldn’t there be damage to the vehicle? No debris or anything near the crime scene makes me think that’s unlikely. Accidentally hitting a deer can total a car, I can’t imagine hitting a person on a motorbike that hard without causing extreme damage to the bike and debris around the crime scene
Also, i know you love odd earrings but over the weekend I've binged you & have seen so many different styles of chairs on your ears that i never thought was possible 😂.

I literally went on an earring buying binge cause of Bella. Love your work Bella ❤️
Lovely to see you Bella, hope you’re all well in Aus 🇦🇺
Bellaaaaa! Thanks for keeping my spirits high you cheer me up. Love you boo x
What a perfect way to start the day! 😍 Watching from Tassie you should totally cover a tasmanian case! I know we have many interesting cases ❤️
just stopped studying bcs i got this notification, totally worth it
Those earrings are giving me some mad flashbacks
right…
Such a terribly good story! Great reporting as always. Love you!
I've never been this early! Thank you Bella for another videooo 😍🙌🏼🥳🥳
i’m sick in bed and this will definitely be the highlight of my morning 🥰🙏🏼 thanks, Bella!
I hope you get better soon
get well soon
@@FluffishPuppy that lady still deserves justice tho
@@despicabledavidshort3806 yeah absolutely! It's really sad that cases go unsolved for so long that the perpetrators have passed or the statute of limitations is already up :/
Thank you Bella! It’s nice to find a case I haven’t heard before.
Bella...gotta run.
Just wanted to let You know that My jaw dropped upon seeing your thumbnail...
WOW! Stunning....
thank you for always posting bella, youre the best! i only like to watch your videos on cases! also adorable earrings today :)
I LOVE your mystery videos so much! You should look into the Michael Dunahee case if you haven’t yet, it’s one of the most confounding missing children cases in Canadian history.. not sure there’s enough information out there to do a video on it but an interesting case nonetheless!
Awe …… it’s sad that she didn’t think men liked her. 😢
This is such an interesting case I've never heard of before. I love older cases like these. I'm also leaning more towards the motorbike theory.
It would be good to see Sharon Phillips case covered. She went missing near where I grew up in Ipswich and they recently reopened the investigation.
Ahhhh those earrings are the best yet!! So cute!
You’d think she’d be more known for doing true crime. But honestly I think she’s more known for her interesting earrings😂💕
I think maybe it could be a combination of theories….what if after the train Erik started chasing after her while they were fighting, maybe while running away from Erik she got hit by a motorcycle, he hid while it happened, motorist drove away. Maybe Eric fled when it happened back to his kids.
the earrings impress me more & more each video
We just gonna ignore the whole desks in her ears? We love xxx
Hey Bella police corruption/disinterest can always play apart in these types of cases unfortunately.
Girlll, your earrings are always gorgeous, love them!
RIP Betty.
Hi Bella! Would you cover the case of Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead twins ? Would love to hear about that
Brittany Vaughn has covered them
Love your chair earrings!!!!
Bella!! Yay💗💗💗💗 was hoping you would upload today.
good to see a fellow Coastie on the tube, I subscribed. I'm Gold Coast
It’s so weird living in Brissy and hearing all these places that I go to all the time!
I am from the UK and I love Australia, plus I found your page, and I love watching your videos they are amazing. Thank you 🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️🌹
LOVE these old time cold cases/murder cases!! Please do more!!
Hey Bella I love the Australian cases, especially ones close to me! have you looked into any cases from the blue mountains? There’s only a few and I’m not sure how much info there is about them but I would love to hear one!
Omg the earrings are everything 😍
This is really interesting…there was a man nearby me who jumped out of a window, and his pants came down. When you mentioned the idea of a motorcycle, together with her underwear being off, l thought of it straight away. Not sure…poor woman, honestly. But the serviceman with those psych reports? My money is on him. So frustrating that we don’t know! Thank you Bella❤️
YESSS😍😍😍😍. WORST DAY BUT IT OFFICIALLY GOT BETTER 😭
New subscriber here. I usually listen to Mr. Ballen, Lazy Masquerade, Mr. Nightmare, and Corpse Husband. I found your channel by accident but I love it. I love your accent. (I’m a Texan) so I’m not used to it. I also got think you do a fantastic job and story telling. Very similar to Mr.Ballen, only a female version. Your story telling is soothing in a weird way. 😂.
I could listen to you read a NASA rocket manual!
Edit: It was Eric while riding a motorbike wearing his gators. There, solved!😝
It’s not funny
@@GranZaddy Too soon? I bet your fun at parties....
@@Krullmatic yeah I like making laughing at dead people
Please do more of such vintage one part cases. They are as much sad as as they are fascinating.
Thank you Bella for another interesting and
Well researched case!
I'm sorry someone heard screaming and "sounded like someone was dying" and they went back to reading!? I freak out when I hear my neighbors husky because he sounds a howling child. What the hell?!
You look great! So happy you are back 🥰
Yaaaaaay made my day seeing your notification!💕🤍
I've only just started watching the video, but I relate to her already - I feel the same way she did, wondering if somethings wrong with me bcuz guys don't like me. it's a hard feeling, not having a significant other, especially when everyone around you does. it's even harder when it's what you want more than anything - that and starting a family. I'm only 23, so I know I still have a lot of time. but there's still moments that I swear it's just not bound to happen for me in this lifetime🤷🏼♀️ so I definitely feel for this poor girl, may she rest in peace😔🖤
Love the earring 💕
Can you do an updated earring collection? Your other ones were so entertaining 🤗🙌🏽💯💞
Omg what a roller coaster! I have no clue what to think there… so unsettling hearing cases so close to home though so used to the cases so far away 😂
idk about the motor cycle theory. if the collision was hard enough to launch her body that far, knock her unconscious and cause such injuries… wouldn’t the driver also be very badly injured? maybe not as bad as her but definitely in need of proper medical attention?? how would they have been physically able/in okay enough condition to go back and “finish her off”?
Yeah and wouldn’t there be damage to the vehicle? No debris or anything near the crime scene makes me think that’s unlikely. Accidentally hitting a deer can total a car, I can’t imagine hitting a person on a motorbike that hard without causing extreme damage to the bike and debris around the crime scene
@@paisleycarter3972 oh that's a really good point.
Also, i know you love odd earrings but over the weekend I've binged you & have seen so many different styles of chairs on your ears that i never thought was possible 😂.
Now that I have a better look, I don't think they're chairs at all lol. But I've still seen a few other videos with chair earrings nonetheless. I love them all lol
Love the different unique earrings you have been wearing in your latest videos
So sad. When I lived in Newmarket I'd walk past the house all the time.
May she rest in peace ❤️
