I cannot thank you enough for these Cardiac videos! I'm a 2nd-semester nursing student and absolutely love learning but we are moving at an overwhelming *lightning speed* in Adult Health/Med-Surg...These short, yet comprehensive videos have been my saving grace!
Best resource for nursing students! I’ve been an LPN for nearly 23 years and I’m just going back to school for my RN. Cathy breaks it down better than ANY of my instructors! I’ve been a cardiac nurse for several years with a lot of experience with pacemakers. I’m sure most people know this but I’m still going to put it out there (I did not read all of the comments to see if someone else said this so I apologize if I’m repeating). SOME, especially new PPM & AICDs, ARE MRI safe (but this can’t be assumed!) At my hospital, there is a person with special training that checks every single generator & wire (in every patient with a device) prior to an MRI to see if it is MRI compatible & places an “alert” in the chart that states the device is or is not MRI safe. Just a bit of info I’ve learned over the years! Happy nursing and thanks Level up RN for helping me through school!
Its amazing that the comments i read here are for more than 2 years ago, of people's gratitude towards your videos. Here i am 2024 benefitting like they were just meant for me. Thank you so much ❤.
Cathy! Your videos are so helpful. They have helped me through the last year of nursing school as the content has gotten harder! Last semester to go! Studying heart dysrhythmias, etc! 😊 thank you!
For my Adult health medical surgical nursing, I just come here and watch all the videos and take my notes, as against reading the big textbook since my instructor will still read it to us in class. With a 5mins video I might be there for 20mins cos am writing it down to better understand. Thank u so much am learning alot.
cabgx3 with ICD implant a year ago survivor here. I recently went into AFIB (again, first episode since surgery), am scheduled for cardioversion in 2 weeks. My question,,, any issue with having the ICD now? Ive had 2 prior cardioversions prior to my cabg. Do the Drs turn off the ICD during the cardioversion? any advice appreciated.
Hey I love watching the videos they help out a lot. But I am confused about one thing. You said that it is okay for them to use their garage door opener but in the ATI book it says "never place items that generate a magnetic field directly over the pacemaker generator. These items can affect function and settings. This include garage door openers". I need some clarification.
According to the AHA, garage door openers pose little to no risk: www.heart.org/en/health-topics/arrhythmia/prevention--treatment-of-arrhythmia/devices-that-may-interfere-with-icds-and-pacemakers
Also on the FDA website, in a document from St. Jude medical, garage door openers are safe to use. Here is the link: www.accessdata.fda.gov/cdrh_docs/pdf14/P140033D.pdf
