I work as a RN on a Medical-Surgical cardiovascular unit. The presenter's explanation was spot on. When I have patients with an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) or a pacemaker, I always review the ECG strip and review the telemetry monitor. You definitely can tell on a pacemaker if it is single or dual by the spikes before the P wave or QRS complex. This video really kept it simple and on point. Thank you.

Had a pacemaker installed 3 years ago for slow heart rate, 2 chamber. The one part of my heart that should be producing 55 to 60% of the work is now only producing 42% . They plan on putting another lead in my left ventricle 3 chamber. They think my biggest problem is the electrical problem more so than heart failure. I had a heart catheter done 4 years ago and my arteries were 25% blocked at the most, so my arteries are pretty much clear. This video made much more since than the way the doctor explained it. Even I could understand it. Great job!

thank you guys so much for making this video! i was diagnosed with complete heart block at the age of 9 and had a pace maker fitted, ive now had it for about 8 years and they didn't really tell me much about my condition (because i was to young to understand) but its really cool watching these videos and it helps me understand alot more about my condition thanks!

Great video, consolidation a lot for me! I wanted to add that a dual chamber pacemaker can only have a ventricular spike on ecg in the situation where the atria is conducting intrinsically above the threshold for the atrial lead.

Thank you for this vid I had a pacemaker put in me a month ago. Apparently, I've got a transient anode heart block whatever that is. But thank you NHS for sorting me out. The only snag now is I've got to carry around this Biotronic monitor thing all the time. It looks like a mobile phone only it's not. Once an hour it transmits data of my heart rate to them.

My dad who is going to be 76 next month has it done every 7 or 8 years n so far he had 4 surgeries. It’s on his right side n he had double chamber thrice n one time only it was single chamber where I have noticed he doesn’t have good equilibrium n I have been told in patients above 65 a double chamber is a must. He wasn’t put on the waiting list at the right time n he lost consciousness several times, which actually lead him to have no taste, his hearing has been impaired, sense of smell completely gone, he can’t feel the left side of his arm n leg, n since he has been diabetic for 25 years he got glaucoma, high IOP, cataracts where he lost one eye n the other one he has only 35% vision. Basically everything happened overnight after the doctor wasn’t wise enough to do his surgery on time. Ur video is to the point n really described. Thank u
