    The BMW Z4 3.0si Coupe with a manual transmission (828 units in North America) is a standout rarity:
    - **BMW Z8**: Even rarer with 2,543 units in the U.S., underscoring the exclusivity of both models.
    - **Audi R8 V10 Manual (First Gen)**: The Z4 is rarer in North America among only 828 units.
    - **Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1**: Fewer units compared to the ZR1's 4,684 units, the Z4 Coupe maintains a unique appeal.
    - **Lotus Exige S (North America)**: With similar limited numbers, the Z4 highlights BMW's exclusivity among only 828 units.
    - **Dodge Viper (Final Gen)**: The Z4's scarcity outpaces this iconic American sports car's approximately 2,000 units, making it a prized addition for collectors and enthusiasts.

    I hope this answers some of the questions on what it feels like to own an E86 BMW coupe. I have owed the roadster and currently own the coupe, I have also driven the M version. The Zed was built strictly for those who like to drive, this car will not massage your ego as you have to drive it as oppose to the car doing driving for you. Yes two hands on the wheels to correct the cambers, yes the car dances around as you unleash that sweet spinning straight six engine. The Z4 is flawed but that where it's beauty lies, turn off the traction control on a nice dry day on your favourite twisty road and focus on your driving with no passenger, music or mobile phone to distract you. One man and his Z4 coupe, floor the pedal and unleash the beautiful beast. On a bad road it crashes over bumps like a wooden roller coaster but handles like its on rail. The caveat: be warned it can be snappy and spit you into the hedge, it's the German TVR mainly the M coupe version. The last analogue BMW e86 is a legend for my weekend drive with precise balance between power, drive and agility. Nice vid.

      Your assessment is spot on. Just picked up a 2006 Z4 3.0si roadster with 37k miles. And everything you just said is what I experienced the very night I drove it home.

      If you have to correct the cambers, something is not correct with the car. Does not have to be something serious, the Z4 is very prone to that issue, can be the wrong tires or the bearing of a part of which I do not know the English designation. In German it is the Querlenker. Get the M version of the Querlenker it also fits in the 3.0Si. THat might correct the camber problem. Also, a "Lenkwinkelsensorabgleich" might help. The M is really malicious in certain corners, the 3.0Si I find very good-natured towards unexperienced, yet risk friendly drivers.

    • @MrRoyck10

      @@MrPeperoni79 the issues with the camber is easily resolved with ditching the run flat tyres with a good Michelin pilot 4 and also a good set of coil overs will set it off very well.

    • @MrPeperoni79
      @MrPeperoni79 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrRoyck10 Yes, run flat tyres is the a very common if not the most common source of error with regard to that problem. I have that problem right now again - it is the worn down winter tyres this time.

    I have a 2007 model Z4 3.0L Si. Built to last. Gets compliments everywhere. I had the front wheel arch clear reflectors painted in body colour. Looks much better. I have an auto box, but also have tiptronic fitted. Mine only has 75000+ miles. Everything on this car from new was an “option!” I’ve added cup holders + cruise control. Owned for almost 4 years. A definite keeper. P.S: electric steering compromises road feel.

      Sounds like a great example you’ve got! Tastefully upgraded too (TTD approves!) I agree with you about the electric steering. Appropriate for luxury vehicles but not sports cars!

      @PowerslideSWE ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulleigh7792 Late answer but there is a thread on pistonheads about it being made. The steering is the thing I like the last about mine, should have had hydraulic steering tbh and a thinner, not fatter steeringwheel, but that just personal preference obvs.. Mine is an auto SI aswell, dunno if more options were to be had tbh, it has full leather, door cards and all, navi, cd changer, cruise, leccy seats, relatively high milage tho at 204000 kilometers, boring color spec tho, sapphire black over black.., would love silver over red likethe video one. Great review aswell.

    I bought my first E86 in 2014, but never wanted an Auto! What's the point in a 2 seater sports car?
    225 bhp? 265 PS according to BMW.
    Gloss black means Piano black!
    Cup-holders aren't great as they are quite fragile, are hard to find and were an option anyway - I've had one with them and one without.
    Still this is an advert, not any sort of informed factual review!
    Although cup-holders are pretty irrelevant as the engine is the special feature - it is just wonderful!
    Unless you get carried away like I did last December and buy an M Coupe (about 600 in the UK) which is fantastic - 343PS and an 8,000 red-line is pretty unusual!

    Hello, Amazing car, great video, I heard some bad comments about the poor ride quality of the e85 z4 generation in general, is that right in your opinion? Is it hard to daily and to cruise because of that?

    • @fuiers
      @fuiers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have exactly the same car from 2008. I would agree that is not for the ideal choice for daily driving in general. But if you want good ride quality this is not on the list when choosing a car. Its a drivers car. I only drive it on the around 5-6 months around the year and my current work trip is very short. You have to be careful also when parking because the hood is so long compared to the back. But it is pure fun every time you can get it out on the road.

      @@fuiers Aha, I see where u are coming from, actually I dreamed a lot about owning an e85, and at this point I think I am willing of putting up with all the negative sides of owning one. The problem is mainly the poor roads conditions where I live. But u are right, for a daily an auto would be a reasonable choice

    • @fuiers
      @fuiers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@samehabouez8267 Also as value standpoint I would suggest buying the coupe. Roadster is more common and has 3 different motor choices. Couple of my friends have had the roadster and although the roadster has that open top feel to it the coupe is better looking because of the roof lining. Roadster has had its value dropped more in the recent years whereas coupe is keeping its value.

    I drive this car as a daily driver I love the 3.0 SI Coupe manuel. Buying a BMW is easy, keeping it on the road is a whole other topic. And these cars are extremely rare so it's not they're out there waiting to be purchased. BMW only made 4000 of the. Z4 coupe, 2000 of them were M coupes, the rest were 3.0 si coupes. We have a 07 in which it got the facelift and this is a bangle design, this is from the bangle era.225 hp ??? Ours came with 260 horsepower with 240 pounds of torque. Your numbers are off. There's also a sport button inside and if you push it it tightens up the steering as well as the suspension.

    • @Phil535
      @Phil535 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sport button does nothing to the suspension. It is steering weight and throttle response only.

  • @jamesmack3266
    @jamesmack3266 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video, is the suspension as stiff as it seems in the video? You can see every bump you hit and the bumps even affect your ability to talk smoothly. Love the car, but The ride looks miserable.

    • @TheTurismoDiaries
      @TheTurismoDiaries  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ride is as firm as you’d like it to be for the type of car it is. The suspension minimises body roll to give it that planted feeling. The seats will overcome any sense of a bumpy ride. Hope this helps!
