This is a great thing. I recently turned 50 and started skating and eating better to improve my lifestyle. I went from 280 to 195 and it feels great. Keep it up, look forward to watching you progress.
Thanks so much for sharing. Taking care of yourself physically and mentally is so important. My latest video is about my mental health. I wasn’t sure I wanted to even post it but I’m glad I did because the older YT skate community has been so supportive. Putting yourself out there is weird, but now that we know what you’re going through and what you’re trying to do, we can be here to help. We’re here for you. You got this dude. 👊
good luck bro. i'll be 42 in december, been back on board for a little over 2 years now. i'm about the same weight as you, around 213lb/97kg, 6'3/191cm, down from 245lb/111kg. still looking to drop/tighten up a bit. i didn't really change a whole lot as far as diet, just a bit more mindful of when and how much i eat. cut a lot of sugar, drink black coffee. i found dancing or yoga is quite helpful for sciatica. as far as skating, since i basically started from square one, i stick to basics/fundamentals like footwork/pivots/endovers/manuals/pump-carving/slappies i don't do stuff that's too hard on my joints. light, regular exercise is huge. doesn't have to be crazy, just move your body. chin up, you'll get there. cutting alcohol is huge.
I really appreciate the time and input 💕 Mindfulness is a big one I think like you mentioned. Interesting about how dancing can help sciatica? Yoga and foam rolling is given I assume to help it. That's getting frustrating, I just deal with the pain. But thanks again, and sounds like you're smashing it 🥳
@@Damoforce only recently getting into dancing, not very good at it 😅 but just the increased movement and flexibility and strength in the hips/spine/knees/ankles seems to help a great deal
Good luck with this mate, I’m doing the same thing at the moment. Like you I’ve lost the weight in the past so I know what I’m getting myself into, it’s both helpful and yet daunting. You got it.
You got this. You just have to decide to do it. This year I cut out all drinks other than black coffee, brewed tea and water and dropped 20 pounds I. January and 16 more over the next few months. I still have a beer about every 2 weeks. But that's it. I didn't think I could drop 37 hounds at 47. But, it was all in my beverages. The unexpected benefit was that I have saved thousands of dollars this rears by not buying any drinks. Go get after it.
