I saw Ozzy with Randy twice.Once in Towson Maryland the first US tour date and then a year or so later in Asbury Park New Jersey both times front row.I have pictures and tickets.
GW: What were Randy’s main influences? Rudy Sarzo: His influences were late-’60s, early-’70s English rock guitar players. He didn’t have any R&B influence or anything, so it’s totally English. And classical music because of his schooling. His mother had a lot to do with that, teaching him and influencing him with classical music. So by the time he got to England, he was not like a typical American guitar player who had had the influence of R&B music and country music, because he’d never played that. GW: Were there any particular players he admired? Rudy Sarzo: Yeah, let me tell you who they were. He really admired Gary Moore and Eddie Van Halen. Those were the top two guys he really, really admired.

Yep, it's a fact... "The More You Know"!! Ah, the Starwood, so many great venues back in the day. These young ones have no idea what they missed!!! ROCK ON!!! Thanks for taking the time! Be sure to like, share and subscribe!!!
I was lucky enough to see Randy with Ozzy I was seated way up in the balcony I see this skinny blonde on guitar spinning and dancing all around I thought it might have been a girl I couldn't tell until I borrowed some binoculars why was he gorgeous back then so awesome I was very lucky to see him
Gotta love the historic moments you got to witness. None of mine where of Randy, but there are others. I bet that was unforgettable. I think there’s a recording of this same show with them performing Slick Black Cadillac.
Nice. So many 'live' performances of bands these days are 'mixed down' versions of live performances ripped from the sound desk. So, while technically being 'live' performances, they are really just studio tweaked recordings of the performance...played LIVE! This 'raw' footage, shot and recorded with one of those 'new-fangled' VHS or Beta camcorders of that time, ISN'T! 😁👍
Actually... Ozzy would have been WASTED or passed out, Sharon saw Randy and said, Hmmm, maybe this kid can do something with this guy, he's OURS, LOL😆🤣🤣🤣
Kevin was ONE DIMENSIONAL... not bad just a one trick pony. It's well known Randy was done with Quiet Riot before this opportunity arose, that's why Randy evolved so fast with Ozzy, he had found a writing partner that could match his prowess as a writer!! Yep you hear every little bit of what was to come in these recordings! Thanks for taking the time! Be sure to like, share and subscribe!!!
Randy with Quiet Riot is a big difference to Randy with Blizzard of Ozz. Bob Daisley's influence on Randy was massive, as a guitarist and a songwriter, It's like day and night.
Spot on!!! When Randy was surrounded by these talented writers, he came into his own!! .Thanks!! for stoppin' by, be sure to like, share & subscribe!!!
A decision made by Ozzy's management... KEEP THE CAMERA ON OZZY, Oh that Rudy guy looks kinda cool, film him too!!! Yikes, somebody made that call (and Sharon was bummed as she could have made so much more cash off Randy with multiple shows with quality footage). A theory, that's all, LOL!!
Once Randy got with Ozzy and better producers and engineers. He was really able to shine. This is night and day different. I think he matured as a player in a short time. It's obvious he was ripping here but with a major label influence to write radio hits. His arrangements got miles better ! And so did his solos. I do hear alot of Ozzy riffs in here though. Blizzard was a departure from this and Diary was an absolute masterpiece in comparison.
Quiet Riot trapped Randy, he was so much more than Quiet Riot and he wrote a "style" for Kevin who was a very limited singer... dare I say one dimensional. A Legend nonetheless!!
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle ? When Yngwie came out nobody was playing what he played. Yngwie may be an asshole and plays sloppy now, but when he came out he was very, very good.
Tapping had been done in the ‘50’s, 60’s and then in the 70’s…Eddie saw Steve Hackett tapping in ‘73…Randy may have a as well. Eddie just made it popular by taking it to the extreme…like he did with everything else!
Just hear me out. In those days Eddie had cast the biggest shadow as far as the gun slingers go and rightfully so. What made Randy very important was he was becoming more modal in his playing and that kind of approach is what sets all players apart stylistically or everyone is just a loud blues rock player essentially. Everybody who got on the tapping thing which was inevitable just kinda came off as hack next to Eddie. Trust me I always looked at Eddie and Randy and George Lynch as the American trinity of players like Clapton , Beck and Page were for England.
Yep!!! Riot did not match the classical intonations in Randy's style, once he joined Ozzy, he became Legend!! .Thanks!! for stoppin' by, be sure to like, share & subscribe!!!
RIP Randy 😇🙏🌎⚡️
I can hear him playing right now...
Definitely goodbye to romance mixed in towards the end of the solo.🤘🔥

Thank you for this Gem💎👍🏻May Randy Rhoads R.I.P.🙏🏻ROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
A pleasure!! Thanks for taking the time to visit, be sure to like share & subscribe!
Same for Kevin Dubrow and Frankie Banali. RIP guys
@@bitburg40 ROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
I saw his last show in Knoxville tn..😢
Randy’s metallic, razor's edge, cutting your face open sound was the best…
His tone was massive, he was a master of "controlling" his Marshall!!

Leslie West & Mick Ronson were 2 of Randy’s earlier influences…🎸
I herd goodbye to romance and crazy train in that solo
he did use a lot of the QR riffs and solos for that first album and some for the second

Heard some of the early melodies of Goodbye To Romance in the extended solo ❤️🖤🥲
People saying it was Goodbye to Romance in the acoustic section ... It's actually the ending to Dee. Both were made in the same key and time signature
Friends from my hometown. Drew,Rudy he’s from Florida, Randy & Kevin he’s from Hollywood. They were the favorite at the Starwood.

We have posted a recent interview with Andrew Klein who talks about Randy and the Ozzy dynamic that his research turned up for the Last Train Home
Ozzy was in the audience saying hes mine!!

God Kevin was bad. 42 yrs later Randy is still missed heavily. Only wish what could have been.
I like you could hear a snipit of "Dee" in his solo.

How is they had Live video Footage of Randy back in the 70s with QR that was Clear but with Ozzy it was mostly Blurry?
A decision made by Ozzy's management... KEEP THE CAMERA ON OZZY, Oh that Rudy guy looks kinda cool, film him too!!! Yikes, somebody made that call (and Sharon was bummed as she could have made so much more cash off Randy with multiple shows with quality footage). A theory, that's all, LOL!!
Everybody/things were on drugzzz back then, was a blurry time. They wanted you to see it through ozzy's eyes.
Parts of it sounds like communication breakdown
That;s what I thouht it was at first until he started screaming something about laughing gas.
Hit the nail on the head !
A little Burn mixed in.
I'll say...lol

Randy had a lot of variety in his playing,he and Yngwie were following closly on EVH,s heels
no one should ever mentioned Yngwie in a sentence with Randy and Eddie, unless it involves asking who is nowhere near those guys in stature
Dave…best comment!
on his heels lmao by 1982 Randy stepped over evh heel and said this is metal
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle ? When Yngwie came out nobody was playing what he played. Yngwie may be an asshole and plays sloppy now, but when he came out he was very, very good.
Dee
Roads sounds a lot different playing with Ozzie...
That's production plus good pairing (Ozzy's voice and Randy's writing style worked)!!!!!!
If Randy never did tapping there would be NO EVH arguing. Period. I know everyone took to using tapping back then but just saying.
The argument we will never know the answer to... or do we????

Harvey Mandel…🎸
Hmmmmmmm were you even alive back then? Did you see Quite Riot and Van Halen live?
Obviously he's pretty amazing, but he was stuck in this band and it's such a mismatch.Luckily he got under the Bob Daisley song writing team.

singer was dated.
his songs were dull.
the others in the band were better.
Fair judgement, but they are all part of our Rock/Metal Musical Heritage & History and for that we are grateful...!!!
Yah and what have you ever done in the music world obviously nothing , Kevin dubrow did great with Quiet Riot 👍👏🔥🎸❤️🇺🇲💯 !!!
Sorry...but this sounds like crap..bummer, because I like Randy Rhodes🙄☹
Understood, alas this is what we can find... and I will continue to hunt RARE stuff to share thanks for taking the time!!
