My mom swears she was almost a Bundy victim down in Florida, she lived in the area he was lurking. My dad claims she was too ugly. Both have valid points.
For those who wanted more backstory:
My mom was walking home from school with a friend when a VW Beetle was following and they ran, that’s what Bundy was driving. She now calls them Bundymobiles. Also, my mom isn’t ugly, we’re just a sarcastic family and nothing was ever off limits if it got a laugh.
Glad I made some laughs, that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day. Thanks!

Excuse me if I doubt his story. He gave 1978 as the approximate year this woman was on a date with him. Anyone who knows anything about Teddy knows he did his final ones in January and February, 1978, and was arrested around Valentine's Day.
There are quite a few stories which are similar. Some of the women may be telling the truth.

That look from Bundy Chris talked about that happened to his moms friend, was the same look a man gave me when I was a child (9 or 10) and in line at a grocery story. He kept turning around and staring at me. The cashier picked up on something and had enough sense to ask me if I wanted to stay at the store with her until she called my mom and I said yes.
Well, the guy ended up leaving but I was young and didn't know my phone number and thought I was going to get in trouble so I ended up leaving the store.
As soon as I crossed the street that same guy pulled up in his car telling me that my mother sent him to get me and I knew he was lying so I started to run. Thats when he stepped on the gas and started to chase me with his car. When I got around the corner he got out of his car and caught up to me and grabbed me by my hood and kept telling me that I got it wrong to just get in the fucking car!
I managed to break free, run through a yard while he was still chasing me. He almost caught up but luckily there was a fence he was too old to climb and being a kid, I was able to climb the fence with ease and get home.
But what I remember most was his dead eyes and the way he stared at me. He was going to kill me.
This happened in 78 or 79. The decade all the serial killers were out there.

i worked at a luxury department store and at our coffee shop there was a guy who i always felt uncomfortable around. My coworkers had agreed that he had creepy vibes so I always kept my distance. A friend of mine decided to google him after an incident left her feeling like he was seriously off. Turns out he had just gotten out of jail after a 10 year sentence for raping and abusing several girls as young as 11. She contacted our security team and he was instantly fired and barred from the store. A few months later he strangled a 21 year old girl to death.
Moral of the story: trust your gut about creepy men. better to be considered rude than be dead. also google people for yourself, not everyone does their due diligence.

Sometimes the only clue that someone is dangerous is that you just get a weird feeling about someone. That and abnormal eye contact...someone might be cool and charismatic..but if they hold their gaze a little too long..run for the hills. I was a nurse for inmates, those are the 2 things that I noticed.

The story about Ted Bundy at 3:49 -- I heard the same story 40 years ago from a girlfriend of the girl who walked out on Ted Bundy at the restaurant. As I recall, the girl was a BYU student and she was at Brick Oven Pizza in Provo on a first date with Ted. Then sitting at the table she had an overwhelming feeling that Ted was evil - so she excused herself to "go to the restroom" & just didn't go back. It was ~2-3(?) years later when she saw Ted's picture and learned who he was.

She then tells me to go for a ride with her. I tell her I’m fine while I read my book. She looks forward then turns her head to me again and tells at me to get in the car! That part about Bundy's face changing is interesting because others have said the same thing about him. His long-time girlfriend said they were rafting one day when he suddenly pushed her into the water and she almost drowned. She eventually managed to pull herself back up and just saw Ted sitting there with a blank expression on his face as if he wasn't really there. Others have also claimed that Bundy's eyes would go black when he was ready to kill. Crazy stuff.

She had never encountered in her career which had been tenured somebody like him before so this description that he's giving is much like the description that she gave me when I inquired about what this killer was like. Crazy murderer link story. I grew up near Diamond Bar CA where the Nightstalker committed his last murder (or one of the last). My mom had the same reaction upon seeing the mugshot and always tells her story when he comes up on tv. She saw the Nightstalker at her bathroom window (daytime) as she got out of the shower. We had just moved into a newly developed suburb, which is adjacent to Diamond Bar (most eastern LA county), so there were no fences between houses yet. He was caught in East LA only a few days later. Stories like hers and Chris' mom's friend are so compelling because it makes you wonder how many potential victims got lucky.

There are certanly some who might embellish, however, there were hundreds of people who hitch-hiked in the 70's and 80's. That was a very common way for people to get around. It might be true, it might be false, but don't discount the fact that Bundy wasn't the only serial killer in the 70's and 80's, he was just the most well-known.

I mean that's just blatantly untrue but I understand the perspective. The amount of violence is definitely lesser in max security compared to basic, but the severity of violence is greater in max security. Meaning in lower security prisons or jails you're surrounded by a bunch of lowlives with egos (drug dealers, smugglers, gang bangers, extortionists, etc) so the amount of times someone might get jumped or stabbed because someone else looked at them wrong is a lot greater -- in max security you're surrounded by lifers, murderers, killers, "made men", the likelihood of getting gutted and your intestines used as a noose to hang you with because Ezekiel told John that was the only way to keep Baby Jesus from being drafted into the third Colonial War on Omicron Persei-8.
TL;DR More shit goes off in low level but more likely to survive, less shit goes on in max but you're more likely to die.

The security of any prison is dependent upon the design of its physical plant, how many staff there are, and whether or not they care about protecting inmates.
Older maximum security facilities can be very dangerous due to blind spots. Indifferent staff can have a huge impact on how safe the inmates are.

When I was in my first year of college, my highschool friends and I, about a total of 10 of us, booked a trip to Cabo. We were out having fun at the clubs, and we eventually split into smaller groups all while being within a block of each other at different clubs. The night was still pretty young around 12AM and I found myself on this dance floor at an open faced club where I can see my friends had moved onto the next party across the street so I kept enjoying myself. I took a seat at this table and a group of slightly older guys who came off as mexican locals but dressed up nicely sat among me and started conversation, being overly nice to the point that I started being weary. They asked some questions about me, who I came with, where my friends where etc and then came the weirdest part. They waved down the bartender and asked to bring over a beer for me. The manner in which he did this was so casual that I knew he had been here before, or at least so I thought. At this point I kept peering over to see if I could spot any of my friends, none were in sight. Bartender brought over an opened corona bottle, I had a bad feeling so I made something up about wanting to dance if I remember correctly and then booked it across the street as fast I could but that memory will always stay with me

Some years back a friend and I got temporary jobs painting fence by the beach in Florida. Since we were staying at the boss' house, we had not been paid in full for a few weeks. Once we were, it was on.
My buddy and I went down to a local oysters and brew shack and proceeded to get pretty wasted. He got tired after a few hours of booze and pool and decided to head home. I wasn't ready for that and bid him goodbye, saying I would call a little later for a ride.
So I went back to the pool table and it wasn't long before a couple of guys came up with a pitcher and asked if I wanted to shoot some games. We did, playing for at least a couple more hours, drinking heavily all the while and having a super good time. I was beginning to worry because it was getting late and I still hadn't arranged for my friend to pick me up yet, but the driver of the two I'd met offered to taxi me back the three miles or so to my boss' place. What luck, I thought, to run into a couple of such funny and cool random dudes.
After a while, the more extroverted and quick witted of the two excused himself to go to the restroom, me thinking nothing of it. But just as soon as the guy left his buddy grabbed my arm and looked right in my eyes and said "Don't take that ride with us, I've seen him hurt people..."
He was clearly frightened, and I was totally freaked out. I could see now the dynamic between the two as a classic 'killing team' in which the dominant partner usually does the killing and the submissive who obeys orders and helps supply or dupe the victims. Sometimes these subs will have a real crisis of conscience about the arrangement.
All the fun before now revealed a sinister undercurrent upon reflection, with lots of compliments and ego boosts that seemed to encourage an attitude of arrogance and overly robust self assurance in me, the type a psychopath would surely enjoy disillusioning and depriving their victim of.
I went immediately to the main bar and got the two bartender's attention. I told them the situation and told them not to let me walk out with either of those two. I was worried about being led out drugged or at gunpoint or something. I finally got in touch with my friend who came and got me before too long, and I didn't talk to either of those two again. I really wonder what might have happened that night, I've taken a thousand chances on iffy situations, but I think this one would have turned out bad if I'd not been warned.

I forgot that Otis Toole, who was Henry Lee Lucas's alleged partner-in-crime and gay lover, was posthumously declared to be the murderer of Adam Walsh, John Walsh's son (of America's Most Wanted fame). I suspect that is B.S. as well. Toole's car was lost while in police custody, along with any hard evidence that he committed that crime.
Who knows. Be careful out there.
I also forgot that Henry Lee Lucas's mother used to force him to watch her have sex with strangers, which of course isn't psychologically healthy or normal.
Sexualizing children is going to produce so many shivering shells of human beings that I honestly don't really care if a comet hits this planet. Children should be nurtured and protected, not used as blow-up dolls or unwitting voyeurs to maximize dopamine hits.

My Mom's family is from Gaffney SC and she had a close friend that worked with The Gaffney Strangler and during the curfew he used to walk her to her car after their shift was over at night. The police came to arrest him and she had been working next to him the entire time.

My mother in law got the helpless guy on crutches act from Bundy at a lake here in Washington. He tried to get her to leave in a VW bug, but her brother appeared and he took off.

My grandma met Ted Bundy on a bus in Seattle, he was faking a broken arm at the time and wearing fake glasses, she said he seemed like a semi normal guy but had something off about him. I couldn't imagine what it must be like if you meet a stranger then find out later they were a serial killer.

True story. I lived in Merriam Ks, back the early 80's just a few miles from the Missouri state line. In 1982 I was 23 Y/O. My girlfriend and I were were at 7-Eleven on Johnson Drive just up from I-35. She went into the store and I was heading in a couple minutes later. A car pulled up and waved me down asked directions to Mission Road. I started giving directions and noticed that the guy in the car was flipping through a gay magazine. I stopped and got the hell away. Went in the store and told her what had just happened and it really creeped me out. A few years later all this shit starts happening and they show serial killer Bob Berdella on TV and my heart stopped, it was the same guy that had asked directions. I remember it all so vividly because I had never seen anything like that before. Look that MF'r up

@@lilsamantha1 When was the last time someone asked you for directions and instead of concentrating on the instructions he held up a gay magazine and started flipping through it, so that I could see what he was doing. It was obvious he was not interested in directions.
