    I am sure the radios volume control, adjusts the power output to the blue tooth mic (receiver). Just like other wireless devices.
    I have always found that my blue tooth devices, have to be in close proximity (10' - 20') to each other, to work effectively, with out the signal strength being choppy and lossing connection. It seems to be the nature of the beast!

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The radios volume control does adjust the level to the microphone. Like a master control in a way. I also found if you don't want it to sound like garbage, the happy medium for my radios was about 1/2 or slighter higher, the way up on the radios volume. Wouldn't want to overmodulate the mic. Thanks for your findings regarding the bluetooth proximity. I would say 35 ft would not be a reliable signal, but as you said, within 20 ft or so; there shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for commenting.

    I’ve a couple of these Bluetooth mics and I got to say overall their ok, however I use the midland Bluetooth mic for the midland cb talk app while I’m away all week in the truck and apart from saving my license it brings the world of radio straight to me without all the loss of signal over a few miles.
    They are good but on occasions they do give some connectivity problems.
    Overall I’m quite impressed by the mic’s but for using on a proper radio, I’ll stay with my base mic.

    might pair the microphone to a anytone radio with Bluetooth built in. might fix the cutoff issue. it would defiantly see if its the speaker or the dongle with the hesitation.

    Unfortunately this BT adapter has mostly negative reviews on Amazon. Aside from that, the only good thing about this is the design because most others are flatter so the pins don't always maintain a proper contact. Pryme radio sells them as well. They're pricey but they don't go to sleep mode as others I've read about here. I had to buy a speaker mic extension for the BT adapter because of the flat design I previously mentioned.

    Currently not available on Amazon, perhaps a result of all the negative reviews, averaging 2.5 stars. They made a good choice to design it for the Kenwood pin set, which is also used on Baofeng radios. Hopefully they'll fix the issues.

    Great, informative video! I use a Retevis RT3S and bought a wired handset for it.... but... I never use the darned thing lol. I find having the HT alone is just so much less combersome. Isn't that the whole idea of a handhreld radio after all? Also because I use solely DMR I like to see the contacts info on the HT screen, something a handheld mic is yet to give us. Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks again and 73s to all.

    I didnt hear what you suggested. Missing "cutoff" but the 10 meters is normal range for bluetooth and 10 meters is about 34 feet. I wonder if this device can use earbuds instead of the microphone using the radio vox function. I just wish someone would come out with a device that could be used with any radio.

    Hi, I agree it's way to pricey considering the price of a radio... However, I was wondering about the connection to your phone, could you use it with DroidStar, Peanut or Zello? Does the PPT work properly. A know a lot of people in flats and so on can't put up antennas and want to use such apps. Would be a nice way to get a better experience and also leave the phone on charge.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just downloaded Zello. Initial observations is that vox works through the microphone and the PTT will program within Zello, but I cannot get the PTT to activate after it's programmed. This may be a user error. I am going to continue to test today.

      I don't think. The adapter charges via micro USB

  • @Tom-n5tti
    @Tom-n5tti 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The missing first syllable is due to the 'power saving' feature of older/less expensive bluetooth devices. The bluetooth device stops transmitting when there is no audio, and the 'vox' circuit kicks in when it hears audio again.
    I have a really cheap headset that does the same thing.. but i keep it around because it has good audio quality. I certainly don't use those for copying CW :)

    So I bought one…hooked it to a Baofeng, what’s occurring is after the first 1-2 seconds of keying up a repeater the audio gets cut off as the repeater is IDing. I’ve watched your video and read the comments. The problem I’m having is the common one? Right? Does the audio in a conversation pick back up again? After awhile?…..thanks

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that in the video but don't have time to go back and check. The audio does cut off and I think it has to do with either the digital signal processing or something. As I recall, one of the things I did to improve the audio quality slightly, was to only have the baofeng volume up about halfway maybe even a tad less and it seems that helps a little bit. Hopefully I answered your question. Good luck!

    Great video but why would anyone want to put even a $50 wireless mic on a baeofang handheld? I’m sorry but these radios are just not worth putting any money into other then maybe an antenna upgrade. Don’t get me wrong I have a uv5r and for $25 or $30 you can’t go wrong for your first ham radio, but do yourself a favor and put the $50 towards a better radio. I use handheld marine VHF radios all day everyday at work and I don’t see any reason why anyone would want a wireless mic on a handheld. Honestly I see it as a liability, if I had a buck for every time the mic fell off my shirt and the cord saved it from certain destruction I’d be rich 😂 Now I can see a wireless mic on your home base station. Not trying to offend anyone just my 2 cents. 73 🍻
