I Ate at the Most EXPENSIVE Chinese Restaurant in Las Vegas

  • I ate at the most expensive Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas. Mott 32 at the Venetian Palazzo is Chinese cuisine with regional Cantonese, Szechuan, and Beijing flavors in a modern Hong Kong ambience. And it's expensive. We ordered the hot and sour soup dumplings, BBQ Iberico pork buns, smoked black cod, crispy egg noodles with bamboo pith and mushrooms, mango coconut rice roll, and double boiled egg white with black sesame. These items on the Mott 32 menu were unlike any other food we've ever had at Asian restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip, even at the Bellagio.

    Ate there a few months ago with in-laws. I couldn’t afford it, but they won $3000 in the slot machines. The bill was $700. You didn’t order the Peking roasted duck. Best thing I ate. Completely served the traditional chinese way with bones made into soup. Impeccable service. Kids constantly drop their chopsticks. I didn’t have to ask for a replacement.

    And I must give you a special thanks for what you did for me over the past three weeks. I had major surgery and it was bed ridden the entire time. I was able to watch everyone of your episodes, usually more than once, and it kept my mind off of the pain. I’m now better and looking forward to getting to Vegas and try some of the restaurants you recommended.

    Derek, being Asian we gave Mott 32 a try one of the last times that we were in Las Vegas. Since we were a fairly large party, we were seated at a private dining room at the rear of the restaurant. We have had Chinese food in many different cities both in the U.S. and Canada. Honestly, I had a difficult time justifying those high prices since the food wasn't that much better than many of the better Chinese restaurants that I've been to.
    Try Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino. It's usually filled with many Chinese people dining. Once you have eaten there, you'll understand why.

      My wife is Asian and she love this place. She’s eating that many Chinese restaurants traditional etc.. The problem is a lot of a few people go here expecting traditional flavors and dishes and when they don’t get them they say it’s not as good. Truth be told if somebody went and tried both traditional and 32 never having tasted Asian food. I’m sure the it would be mixed results.

    • @electrictroy2010
      @electrictroy2010 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve eaten at genuine Chinese or Japanese restaurants that were 99.9% asian customers. It’s good but not the same as “elevated” food from a top Chinese chef (like Nobu or Hakkasan). Better ingredients, better preparation, moist & juicy instead of dry & overcooked

      Keely on point!
      While you can pop the whole thing, assuming it's not too hot (or you will burn your mouth), some people will use chopsticks to pierce the dumpling while it's in the spoon so the soup is contained. Then, they'd sip the soup from the spoon, and then pop the rest of the dumpling into your mouth.
      For standard soup dumplings, you can add ginger and black vinegar into the dumpling skin and eat it that way.
      Stay awesome Keely!

      All the high-end restaurants in Vegas casinos care about only one thing, can a customer pay $$. Been to pretty much all the Venetian restaurants, in shorts, nobody cared and have always been served very well.
      There are rich Chinese tourists in these casinos, who order a ton and rack up bills of $2000+ sometimes, all in casual wear.

    I would put Mott 32 on my list to try at least once. And I say this while eating my yummy leftover takeout $18.00 Chinese food from last night. I think that's pretty much the same with cuisines from all cultures. The lower classes make delicious food, and the upper classes take those dishes and add "premium" ingredients or techniques and sell it as gourmet. In reality, the basic dish is good enough.

      @@idiot675 There sometimes is a 'superiority' associated with eating at higher end establishments, similar to shopping at Whole Foods here in the US opposed to shopping at a budgeted grocery store. Some ppl feel they belong to the 'millionaires club' when doing so IMHO!
