They do great by direct sow! I think that’s actually the best way. I was being all fancy and starting them in flats so I could put them *exactly* where I wanted them, but the ones that volunteered from last year’s seeds, which came up willy nilly wherever they wanted to, look the best! 🤣🤣

Hi! I have really moved to growing only the profusion zinnias! The tall ones kept falling over and smothering things around them! And I was fighting powdery mildew too. The little profusion varieties are so carefree. Easy to grow from seed!
Aww my zinnia seedlings are so leggy and only 2 out of 16 sprouted. I have grow lights on them about 5 inches above, but maybe not close enough? I'll try again!
So frustrating! I’ve never used grow lights, but I understand having the lights close is a “thing”. Also, when none, or just one or two, of my seeds germinate, I take that as a failure of the seed company, who sent me old/damaged seeds. I do not take it personally as my gardening skill!
