Here is something my brother taught me when I was practicing drawing faces, eyes, noses, mouth, and bodies. “Don’t draw what it should look like, draw what it does look like.” This might not make sense at first but if u think about it a little, it will! :) Hope this helps you guys!
hey don't compare your art to other peoples art! everyone has their own styles and ways of drawing. if you're still not happy with your art you can look at older drawings to see what you dont like about it and should change. using references really helped me. i used to hate my art but recently i've been watching videos and studying different art styles and i'm finally happy with my art. just be positive and don't give up! :)
Nah my family says "not everybody has drawing talent" to me 😭✋(and it's whenever I show them my art so I just have a bunch of deleted drawings and ones that went away in the trash)
There’s always artists or art better than yours and everyones, so don’t care too much about it and draw. Try and compare yourself to others to improve and be inspired. Everybody always feel that their art is not good enough or the best but they still draw because it’s fun. This may be cliche but it is what it is. :p
Or another tip for anatomy, you can draw figures with no features at all! I have a whole sketchbook dedicated to how I draw things, eyes, mouths, hands, head shapes, bodies, hair, etc. what I did for my bodies was I left the guidelines or made them really dark so that I could copy off them if I ever forgot a step or how to do something😁
Another tip I've learn from tik tok: Doodle. Doodling before drawing helps to ease up so you won't get ugly streaks, or etc. It's kinda like a warm up an i really recommend! ^^ To all the beginner artists out there reading this, don't give up! You might think like: "wow your art is amazing! But mine is disgusting trash. :( MAN I SUCK!" You have to learn to appreciate your art! Whether you like it or not, it's yours! I'm trying to be proud of my art as well! Don't push yourself too hard. Give yourself some breaks, etc. Though art block is frustrating, it can also be really good for you! ^^Yall probably be like: " it's art block, how is it any good to us?" well during art block, you will start to think new ideas, which will be great to solve art block! I've struggled with the worst art block for around a month or so and stopped drawing for a while. I even needed to start from a blank canvas becouse I've lost all my art on ibis paint (TwT). But I eventually found motivation and started drawing again! So be proud of your work. Have breaks. Relax. And you'll be a great artist! ^^ Sorry for bad arrangements and floppy tips. I'm bad at speeches. TwT Good luck! -mochii 💕:)
Tips: -Pinterest is your best friend -Take advice, but don't change your art to something you don't like. Your art is for YOU -Join a beginner artist Amino! It's a great community for starting out where you can meet other people like yourself, get tips, and make friends! -Compliments go a long way :) On my Amino, I haven't posted any art, but I leave compliments and tips and advice for people. One amazing artist even told me they were thinking about quitting, but my comments convinced them otherwise. that really made me smile! -Don't compare your art to others -There is no such thing as 'stealing an art style'
The last part kinda hits home, as an aspiring artist I have always wanted to be semi-realistic, but so many cool styles that are less realistic are also really cool. I always thought I would just steal someone's style and not be original. Thanks!
The first one is so true, Pinterest is my always go to place for when I hit an art block or I'm looking for simple tips on anatomy. BTW, (tell me if I'm wrong) it's OK to copy art for practice, BUT please do not post that art online and claim it as ur own, this can cause drama and take away from the original artist. So, please do not post art online that u copied, but u can always use it for practice, just don't plagiarize because that's illegal :)
I am a 12 year old kid, and I really want to be an animator like the ones who create anime series. And this is helping me to improve my drawings Thanks ❤️❤️😔
Tip: when doing your artists moodboard - pick your favourite peace of each artists collection and then pick out 2 main things from each one ; 1. A similarity between all of the artists (there’s probably a reason and trend for why they are all you favourite) and 2. Something unique (what does that artist do that none of the others do and is it something you want to incorporate in your art or not?)

i think that you should draw realism because it really does change your art so much. You can practice realism alongside your own style and you’ll see how much that changes it. You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to though, it’s your choice. :)
Intro 0:00 She sees younger artists and she sees her younger artist self in them. Below are key things she wants to tell you. 1. Where to start 0:39 Create an art inspo board. Have a list of artists you really admire and it can be anyone or anything. Pintrest, Twitter, and Instagram is a good resource. Be in the right community. Having fellow artists friends will make you feel safe. Always be open to criticism and make a mental note and fix it in your next drawing. 2. Anatomy 2:19 There is an average height dimension. Average adult, height is around 7 heads. Realism 3:46 Start doing realistic right now. This will tremendously improve your art. Everything is based on the real world. One piece of advice to past 11 year old self is to draw a lot of realistic art. Do a lot of studies, like drawing stuff in front of you. Flip the canvas horizontally to see what looks off. Hair + Clothes 5:27 For hair, think of it as sections or blocks. Think about how fabric goes around the body. If you do more studies, you'll be able to pick this up quicker. Shading 6:35 For shading, knowing where the light source is. She personally likes a lot more saturated colors. Don't have black lineart. If you color it, it'll make it pop out more. 7:15 Backgrounds Rule of thirds: you should put your subject in the middle of the lines. Know where the vanishing point is. Art Styles What you do is take artists you really admire and try to incorporate their art into your art style. Take their artstyle and incorporate it to your own version. You can take multiple artists and incorporate it into your art. Things to keep in mind You can get into the zone by listening to music. Art blocks are completely normal, take breaks. It'll take time and practice just like other things.
Judging by the comments there are many young / begginer artists here, so I wanted to say something: don't give up. I know it's hard, sometimes you just can't draw that image you see so clearly in your head, sometimes you spend hours on something and you don't like the final result, sometimes you mess up, but THAT IS OKAY! To improve you have to allow yourself to fail first so you can learn from your mistakes. Don't be too hard on yourself, of course you won't draw like a professional artist if you're just starting, or even if you've been doing it for years, everyone has a different level of skill and progress anyways. Just keep practicing, know your weaknesses but also allow yourself to be proud of what you're good at
I've been an artist for almost 3 years and yet I don't feel enough motivated everyday for the attitude of the people around me. thank you for this comment. It helped a lot.
You don't need to draw realisticly! You can just learn the rules of realism and then draw some. But you can still draw anime! As Picasso once said "You need to learn the rules to break them"
I'm 18 and wanna start digital art before college 🥺 I don't have a tablet or the proper tools, in fact, to do digital art - but I still wanna make an effort to start a new skill! Beginning a "skill" feels really intimidating especially when you think you're lagging behind. But the truth is you also don't get any younger. It may be scary and discouraging not getting good at a skill quickly/easily. But we can do it! 😊 Random thought dump for my fellow strangers trying to start art, you're not alone! On the other hand, what softwares y'all recommend to start digital art in a laptop? I don't have a tablet but have a drawing pad and pencil you can connect to your gadget.

heres a life saving tip to master the other eye: draw it upside down and draw a line across the face where the top and bottom of the eye so you can draw it evenly. hope this helped ! 💜
I used to draw pictures without bodies, but I went on TH-cam and just watched other artists draw, then finally learned how to draw bodies, I'm still working on hands and feet, but no one should be put under pressure for that. So my tip: Don't pressure yourself.

My friend once told me that copying drawings are illegal. After her telling me that drawing with reference is a sign of plagiarism, it scared me a lot that made me stop drawing with reference and started focusing on making my own art instead. But then as time went on, I ended up watching this video and started to realize that drawing with reference isn't bad at all! But instead, it helps you improve your anatomy that gave me back the courage to draw with reference again! Well, even until now I still draw with reference, but at the same time, I also tried making my own drawing in a way of applying my learnings while I was practicing. Thank you really! This gave me the courage to draw again! I really appreciate it
@@PutyourMilkBeforeYourCereal That isn't true it is very usefull! And please do what you love. If you like to trace the pictures or it helps you, then do so!!!😊
Tracing The picture is a bad habit, you won't learn much from that, but If you put thought into why The original art has lines where they are you'll really improve very fast. Also try to generalize stuff, like instead of worrying about how many strands of hair there are Look at how they're drawn. If you sketch The anatomy first you'll get better at that too.
how to make good drawings step 1: inspiration step 2: dont give up i guess step 3: be good at drawing i dont know what step 4 is because i have not gotten past step three (Edit: all the positive replies here are so nice I almost cried looking at them)
7:35 on this section, I'd arguably say that your color palette depends on the mood you're going for. The left would be great for artificial lightings or even bright sunny days, or just a setting where there's a lot of light involved (although I'd still do colored lineart for that). The one on the left stands out a lot more against the monochrome background you're using as well. The one on the right would be great for a dim setting, like sunset or sunrise. However, it's starting to blend in with the background in this scenario which doesn't give it a lot of pop. It really does come down to lighting once again. Also I wouldn't discourage against the usage of black in shading as when used minimally, black can give a lot of drama to a drawing. Other than that, this was extremely helpful! Thank youuu
I agree with you! Color is really a unique and interesting take, and it all just depends whether it pleases your eyes or not. I mean sure, its really important to choose matching color schemes, but ppl uses bold and vibrant colors on purpose to pop the drawing, or use super toned down desaturated colors to show a calm, soft mood. So really, it can be anything ^u^
3:58 couldn’t agree less See, here’s the thing: that’s not how art works. I know that you probably don’t think this, but it’s never a good idea to stick to just one style of art if you want to do another. The problem is that when you exclusively draw realism, you completely forget how to stylize. If you draw realistic AND stylized art at the same time, then you’ll be practicing both at the same time as well and your anatomy will improve and you won’t lose your style. Or, who knows. Maybe I’m just an idiot. But hey, that’s how I feel.
The “in the zone” one is so true, you shouldn’t force yourself to continue drawing if your not in the zone cause in the end you may not like the drawing.
Im drawing since im 8 and i mostly draw realism. But now i start drawing with markers and i just dont know how to. Thanks to this i know how to now! Thank you.

This explains a lot of things really nicely and helps younger artists! *Here are some tips I have found and used over the years* -Don't compare yourself to other artists! Many people do so and they cannot develop a good art style so they struggle. -Try not to think negativity towards your art otherwise you won't stay motivated! -Be nice to yourself when drawing and stay positive! -Practice, practice, practice! Practice helps A LOT, I hate it when my peers ask "Were you just born good at art?" No one is born good at something, you have to work hard for it! -Try experimenting with different things and don't be afraid to leave your comfort zone! -Ask for feedback! It will help you know what you should improve on! -Don't be afraid to ask for help! Don't ask someone to do it for you, but ask them to show you how to do it or show you an example! *Hope these helped!
Defiently one of those points is possibly one of the most important, DO DIFFERENT STYLES AND MEDIUM. Doing so let’s you se etchings in different ways and also allow you to expand your skill. A technique from one style may be transferable to another and all.
"Being in the right community" *Me wheezing in the corner while being stuck in a family who thinks everything I do that is related to art in any way including music is a waste of time , supplies and effort. hey don't compare your art to other peoples art! everyone has their own styles and ways of drawing. if you're still not happy with your art you can look at older drawings to see what you dont like about it and should change. using references really helped me. i used to hate my art but recently i've been watching videos and studying different art styles and i'm finally happy with my art. just be positive and don't give up!
there will always be better and there will always be worse
When you're 13 years old, started drawing at 3, tried many tips, and still suck:

I know how you feel bruv :(
you’re still 11 . you have so much more time to improve . I’m around the same age as you and trust me it will help if you believe
When your 13 years old, started drawing at 6, tried many tips, and still suck (me):
I started drawing at 11 lol ( I’m 14 now)
Or another tip for anatomy, you can draw figures with no features at all! I have a whole sketchbook dedicated to how I draw things, eyes, mouths, hands, head shapes, bodies, hair, etc. what I did for my bodies was I left the guidelines or made them really dark so that I could copy off them if I ever forgot a step or how to do something😁
Another tip I've learn from tik tok:
Doodle.
Doodling before drawing helps to ease up so you won't get ugly streaks, or etc. It's kinda like a warm up an i really recommend! ^^
To all the beginner artists out there reading this, don't give up! You might think like: "wow your art is amazing! But mine is disgusting trash. :( MAN I SUCK!"
You have to learn to appreciate your art!

-Pinterest is your best friend
-Take advice, but don't change your art to something you don't like. Your art is for YOU
-Join a beginner artist Amino!
-Don't compare your art to others
-There is no such thing as 'stealing an art style'
The last part kinda hits home, as an aspiring artist I have always wanted to be semi-realistic, but so many cool styles that are less realistic are also really cool. I always thought I would just steal someone's style and not be original. Thanks!
@@aceofspades2201 No problem! Otherwise everyone with an anime style would be "theives".
The first one is so true, Pinterest is my always go to place for when I hit an art block or I'm looking for simple tips on anatomy. Intro 0:00
She sees younger artists and she sees her younger artist self in them. Below are key things she wants to tell you.
1. Where to start 0:39
Create an art inspo board. Have a list of artists you really admire and it can be anyone or anything. Pintrest, Twitter, and Instagram is a good resource. Be in the right community. Having fellow artists friends will make you feel safe. Always be open to criticism and make a mental note and fix it in your next drawing.
2. Anatomy 2:19
There is an average height dimension. Average adult, height is around 7 heads.
Realism 3:46
Start doing realistic right now. This will tremendously improve your art. Everything is based on the real world. One piece of advice to past 11 year old self is to draw a lot of realistic art. Do a lot of studies, like drawing stuff in front of you. Flip the canvas horizontally to see what looks off.
Hair + Clothes 5:27
For hair, think of it as sections or blocks. Think about how fabric goes around the body. If you do more studies, you'll be able to pick this up quicker.
Shading 6:35
For shading, knowing where the light source is. She personally likes a lot more saturated colors. Don't have black lineart. If you color it, it'll make it pop out more.
7:15
Backgrounds
Rule of thirds: you should put your subject in the middle of the lines. Know where the vanishing point is.
Art Styles
What you do is take artists you really admire and try to incorporate their art into your art style. Take their artstyle and incorporate it to your own version. You can take multiple artists and incorporate it into your art.
Things to keep in mind
You can get into the zone by listening to music. Art blocks are completely normal, take breaks. It'll take time and practice just like other things.
The music thing is entirely right, at least for me

Tracing The picture is a bad habit, you won't learn much from that, but If you put thought into why The original art has lines where they are you'll really improve very fast. Also try to generalize stuff, like instead of worrying about how many strands of hair there are Look at how they're drawn.

True!

See, here’s the thing: that’s not how art works.

This explains a lot of things really nicely and helps younger artists!
*Here are some tips I have found and used over the years*
-Don't compare yourself to other artists!
